How big is your gift list this year?

Mine is as long as my arm and leg combined! Ok, I might be exaggerating a little bit, but it is a long list.

I look at the holidays as a time to spread holiday cheer and let folks know I love and appreciate them. I happen to have a really big list of people I love and appreciate. In addition to my family and close friends, there are all the amazing people who help me on my sites, a dozen (or more) teachers and coaches, my neighbors, my mail carrier, my UPS guy…the list goes on and on!

Many of the gifts that I give this year will be homemade treats and baked goods. I’ll be making and delivering a ton of cookies, candies and breads to folks over the next few weeks. In addition to the sweet treats, I will also be making a bunch of meals as well. I typically make between 15 – 20 pot pies and lasagnas that I give away too.

Many moons ago, I worked as a nanny while I was in grad school. The mom that I worked for always prepped a bunch of pot pies in early December. She’d freeze them all and then give them as gifts with a kind note. She told me that as a mom, one of the best gifts she could get was the gift of time. So, by giving folks a prepped meal that they could simply bake and enjoy, she was giving them more time with their families.

Now, I am carrying on her tradition. I have been giving frozen pot pies and lasagnas for many, many years now. It’s my way of giving the gift of time to the folks I appreciate.
