Now that the weather is warm, a good amount of our meals are enjoyed outside. I like being able to utilize the grill to help me serve up a tasty meal without a ton of effort.
But that doesn’t mean that that I never use my oven. When I am hankering for a baked treat, I like to pull out my mixer and whip up something tasty. One of the favorites around here is a chocolate cake. And the easiest and tastiest is the one you see pictured here.
I have a dozen or more cake recipes but the one I am sharing today is one my all-time favorites. It mixes up fast and comes out perfect every single time. Whenever I serve it to a group, someone always asks for the recipe. But I have learned to make them try it BEFORE I tell them the ingredients. That’s because that cake includes a cup of Hellmann’s Mayonnaise!
Yep, that mayonnaise is the secret ingredient for a super moist and tasty cake that you just have to try to believe it!
All you need is your favorite boxed cake mix, a few eggs, water and some Hellmann’s Mayonnaise. You end up with a cake that is sure to be a hit with your friends and family. Just add your favorite frosting and decorate however you’d like and you’ll have folks asking YOU for the recipe too!
- 1 box (16.5 oz.) chocolate cake mix
- 1 cup Hellmann’s® or Best Foods® Real Mayonnaise
- 1 cup water
- 3 eggs
- 1 tsp. ground cinnamon (optional)
- PREHEAT oven to 350°. Grease and lightly flour two 9-inch round cake pans*; set aside.
- BEAT cake mix, Hellmann’s® or Best Foods® Real Mayonnaise, water, eggs and cinnamon 30 seconds in large bowl with electric mixer on low speed. Beat on medium speed, scraping sides occasionally, 2 minutes. Pour batter into prepared pans.
- BAKE 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted in centers comes out clean. Cool on wire rack 10 minutes. Remove cakes from pans and cool completely. Sprinkle, if desired, with confectioners sugar or fill and frost.
