I absolutely LOVE the holidays! It doesn’t matter which one it is…I love them all and make sure to celebrate as long as possible.
There is basically a holiday or special event every single month of the year and I make the most of all of them. I have been collecting items and decor over the years and love to pull everything out and make my home fun and festive no matter the occasion. I even have special tableware for many holidays and will often plan my menu based on the holiday. After all, it only takes a few minutes to make an ordinary day a little more special!
Right now I am in Halloween mode. My home is decorated with pumpkins, jack-o-lanterns, spiders, ghosts and so much more. Of course I don’t stop when it comes time to serve up dessert. Take my mummy and ghost ice cream cups you see above. That is one of the easiest desserts ever…and yield such a fabulous response whenever served. I simply decorate a few jars ahead of time and then when it’s time for dessert. To get started just pull out your canning jars, old baby food jars or yogurt jars…whatever you have handy. Grab a carton of Tillamook Old-Fashioned Vanilla Ice Cream and you are ready to go!
To make the mummy, you simply glue on a couple of candy eyes and then wrap the jar with gauze. Fill the jar with Tillamook ice cream and you have a treat that can’t be beat!
The ghosts are just as simple. Grab a permanent marker and draw a spooky face on your jar. Add your Tillamook Old-Fashioned Vanilla and then top with a dollop of whipped cream for a bootiful dessert with almost no effort.
If you want to kick it up a notch, rim your jar with some colored sprinkles before you add the ice cream. The quick ways is to dip the rim of the jar into pre-made frosting and then dip into some sprinkles. If you don’t have frosting on hand, simply mix 2 tablespoons of confectioners’ sugar with 1 teaspoon water until combined. Dip the rim of the jar into the sugar mixture and then into your sprinkles…voila—a sprinkle rimmed jar/glass!
