No matter how much I plan, there is always a chance that something can go wrong. Take my menu for example. It takes a fair amount of time to plan out three meals per day for the whole week. I put forth the time and effort because I truly believe that menu planning is what helps me keep my food budget as low as possible.

But…with that many meals to make, I need a LOT of ingredients. I try to remember everything but sometimes I forget an item or on occasion, my guys eat an ingredient that I had planned for a meal. When that happens, I either have to head back to the store or improvise!

Often those last minute improvisations lead to better meals than what I had originally planned.  That’s actually how I ended up with one of my guys’ favorite breakfast meals—sausage, egg and waffle sandwiches!

I had planned on making French Toast one busy Friday morning. BUT… after finding that the my last few slices of bread had been turned into PB&J Sammies as a snack the night before, I had to come up with another option.

The eggs were already whisked together in the bowl. So, I looked around and found some Jimmy Dean® Sausage patties and frozen waffles and decided they’d be perfect combo for a quick and easy sandwich. My guys absolutely loved my breakfast sandwich and asked that I make it INSTEAD of French Toast the following week.

Keeping quick and convenient items on hand has saved me more than once. That’s why I almost always have a bag of Jimmy Dean Sausage on hand. In no time flat, I can have a delicious meal on the table with very little effort. And because it tastes amazing, I know that when the meal includes Jimmy Dean Sausage, my family will love it!

Look for four Jimmy Dean pre-cooked sausage products in the frozen section at your local Publix. Grab pork sausage or turkey sausage in either links and/or patties. Keep a bag (or two) in your freezer so you can whip up something tasty fast!
