beef-stroganoff-3Today I am sharing one of my favorite recipes that really doesn’t require too much effort – Beef Stroganoff. I love this recipe because you take an expensive cut of beef and simmer it until it’s very tender. Plus there’s that creamy sauce that so good you want to lick the plate (oops…did I just tell on myself–tee hee).

Basic spaghetti gets so boring after a while. This recipe is still a good option for dinner as you get a pasta dish that is still kid friendly. My boys actually prefer those beef strips over a ground meat any day!

Ingredients
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 pound beef sirloin, sliced into thin strips
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 1 large onion sliced [i]- I used 2 small onions[/i]
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced
  • 14 oz beef broth
  • 1 1/2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 6 oz sour cream
  • 8 oz egg noodles, cooked according to directions
Instructions
  1. Heat oil and butter in a large skillet.
  2. Season meat with the salt, pepper and seasoned salt and cook with the onion and garlic in the butter/oil mixture until the meat is browned and caramelized.
  3. Remove meat and veggies from pan and add flour to the remaining fat in the pan – stir to combine.
  4. Whisk in the beef broth and Worcestershire sauce and stir until flour mixture is incorporated.
  5. Add mushroom and the cooked beef and onions back into the sauce.
  6. Cover and simmer for about an hour, stirring occasionally.
  7. Remove from heat and stir in the sour cream before serving.
  8. Serve over cooked egg noodles.
