Good Cook Nonstick Cutlery Review & Giveaway
March 25, 2013

Last week a box full of Good Cook Nonstick Knives showed up at my door. I was so excited to see them and felt kinda like a kid at Christmas. I spend a lot of time in the kitchen and have been using a set of 2 ceramic knives for almost all of my food prep. I do love them but they just aren’t always the right tool for the job. Now I have a great new set of knives that include a big variety to suit all my needs. Here’s what was in my box:
- Nonstick Paring Knife, 4” blade
- Nonstick Sandwich Knife, 5” blade
- Nonstick Utility Knife, 5” blade
- Nonstick Chef Knife, 8” blade
- Nonstick Santoku Knife, 5” blade
- Nonstick Bread Knife, 7” blade
This past weekend was very dreary so we opted to stay home and get some things done. Since I got a big beautiful produce box on Thursday, instead of going out for our typical Saturday dinner out, I grabbed the Good Cook knives and gave them a test drive. I decided to whip up some Spinach & Feta Chicken Rollups. I added some steamed veggies and fresh black eyed peas. Who needs to go out with a delicious meal like that?!

The first thing I did was chop the veggies. The blades on all the knives are non-stick coated and have soft-grip, ergonomic handle that fits comfortably in the hand and provides better control when slicing and when hands are wet. I loved the little pairing knife for slicing up the carrots. The smaller blade allowed for good control so I could get even slices. When steaming veggies you have to make sure the items are equal so the food cooks evenly. I tried the Santoku knife first but settled in with the smaller pairing knife…it worked like a charm. The Santoku knife was a great choice for chopping my onions. I zipped through the onion quickly and without a tear shed.
Next I grabbed the chef knife and quickly chopped the big bunch of spinach. The knife was larger and the big 8 inch blade made getting through the bunch quick and easy. A quick wash and I then used it to slice large chicken breast into thin fillets. I have to say that I was extremely pleased with all the knives and will definitely put them to good use often as I prepare meals each week. Another feature that makes these knives a big hit for my household is that each knife comes with its own fitted safety sheath. My boys know to keep their little fingers off my kitchen knives but the safety sheath adds another aspect of protection since we all know 5 and 7 year old boys don’t follow the rules all the time

If you need a new knife or a new set of knives you can pick up a great deal. Through April 15 you can use the code NONSTICK to get 30% off these knives as well as your entire order over on the Good Cook website.
- 4 Chicken Breast Fillets (pounded thin)
- Toothpicks
- 3 Tablespoon Olive Oil
- Bunch of Spinach
- ½ Cup Chopped Onion
- Zest of 1 Lemon
- 4 oz Crumbled Feta
- Salt & Pepper To Taste
- Egg Wash
- Bread Crumbs
- Heat 1 tablespoon of olive oil and sautee onion until translucent. Add spinach to onions and heat until wilted. Remove from heat and add feta, lemon zest and salt & pepper to taste. Remove from pan and set aside.
- Pound chicken fillets until thin. Place ¼ of spinach mixture on chicken breast and roll. Secure with toothpicks. Dip chicken in egg wash and then roll in breadcrumbs.
- Heat remaining olive oil and cook chicken until done.
I have some great news! The folks at Good Cook are giving one I Heart Publix reader their own set of Cook Cook nonstick cutlery (value, $125).
Entry is simple! You just need to complete the task below. You can gain a bonus entry as well (just make sure that you leave one entry for each — up to a total of 2 comments.) As a reminder, comments left on Facebook, Twitter or other posts will not be included. I will choose the winner on Monday 4/1 at 11 pm.
REQUIRED ENTRY:
- Which of the Good Cook Knives do you think you would use most in your kitchen?
OPTIONAL ENTRY

Hillshire Farms Sausage Great On The Grill + Final Publix Gift Card Giveaway
March 12, 2013
Well we got some great weather this past weekend in Atlanta and I was hoping the warm weather was here to stay. It’s a bit chilly today but I have hopes for a great weekend. When the weather is warm I love to fire up the grill. I can usually even get my husband to work the grill so that I only have to focus on preparing the side dishes.
One of our family favorites can be done all at once – kabobs! Grab a package of Hillshire Farm rope sausage, some bell peppers, onion, mushrooms – slice everything up and throw them on a skewer. A few minutes on a hot grill and you have your protein and your sides all done at once. Pair it with a side salad and you have dinner in under 30 minutes from start to finish!

Kabobs are easy, delicious and a fun change of pace. My boys love them because they taste great and they get to play with their food a bit. Grab a couple of packs of Hillshire Farm Sausage and whip up some kabobs or just throw the links on the grill and then serve them in a bun. What a great change of pace from your typical ground beef or chicken meals!
I have another winner to announce. Congratulation to brandy.m. She was the winner of last week’s giveaway with her Turkey Sausage and Greens recipe. This recipe is another way to prepare your entire meal at once!
If you are looking for recipes, you can check out all the great recipes that the readers haveshared HERE and HERE and HERE. You can also look on the Hillshire Farm recipe page – everything I have tried there has been awesome!
Turkey Sausage and Greens
1 Turkey Kielbasa Rope – cut into circle slices
half an onion – diced
2 bushels of collard greens
2 cups chicken broth
seasonings to taste
1 tbs olive oilWarm olive oil in the pan and then add sausage and brown
Once sausage has a good crust on it, add the onion and sautee until the onions are translucent (about 3 minutes)
Add collards a handful at a time – once the handful has wilted down a bit, add more, etc.
Once all the greens have wilted down, season to taste (I add garlic powder, sea salt, cracked pepper and red pepper flake)
Stir and let cook for a couple minutes then add chicken broth and stir again
Let cook, stirring occasionally, for 15-20 minutes
Serve!Goes great with GRITS!!!

Hillshire Farm To The Rescue + Enter To Win A $100 Publix Gift Card
March 5, 2013
Hillshire Farm to the rescue. At least that is what I was saying this weekend. You guys know I typically take Saturday off as my day out of the kitchen. Last weekend, we had planned to go to my oldest son’s baseball game, run a few errands then hit my favorite Mexican restaurant.
Well, it was so dang cold that the game was canceled and I was not motivated to get out of the house. So, I decided to grab a box of dirty rice mix, slice some Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage and dinner was on the table in 25 minutes. I really didn’t even feel like I was cooking since I just dumped the rice and the sausage in a pan with a little boiling water. My guys loved it and even cleaned up the mess after dinner. Ok…it was only a pan and the four bowls we used but it was still a nice break for me.
Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage is great to have on hand. It’s ready in your fridge whenever you need a great meal. It makes dinner a breeze and your whole family will love it.
I like to have a couple varieties of the sausage on hand. It is one of my favorite meats to keep in the fridge. The sausage I bought last week is good until the end of May. So it will be there ready to go whenever I need it. I don’t have to worry about remembering to take anything out of the freezer in the morning. Plus, the price can’t be beat especially since we have a great coupon and sale at Publix!
Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage, or Polska Kielbasa, 13 or 14 oz, 2/$6
-$1.50/2 Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage
-$0.75/2 Hillshire Farm Smoked Sausage 02/03/2013 RP Insert (exp 03/31/2013)

MyCouponKeeper Review And Giveaway
March 5, 2013
I get a number of questions about what kind of coupon binder that I use. Well, I don’t use a binder – I use a box
I went through just about every storage method that you can think of – binders, baseball card holders, zip folders, plastic pouches…seriously I tried everything. Brandi from over at MyCouponKeeper emailed a couple years back and asked if I wanted to try her system. I was fed up with my binder and agreed to give it a go. I’ve used a MyCouponKeeper ever since!
I love this system because the box is nice and sturdy. It comes with plenty of pre-printed labels for the thick sturdy dividers so you can quickly find your category and coupon. Everything is a very nice quality – it will last! – and fits perfectly in the front of the shopping cart.
The system also comes with a take to store purse size folder which I think is a great idea. Basically, you put the coupons you intend to use on the left side of the binder then move the ones you will definitely be use to the right side to present to the cashier!!
One of my favorite parts of the system is the removable insert boxes that you get as well. You can use these to gather the coupons for your shopping trip. Then you can just pull out what you need and pop all the coupons in the small box for easy access.
I really do love this system. I think it is very easy to use. I love the tabbed dividers and how it allows for quick access to your categories. The hardest part is keeping the box filled – and you guys know I have a TON of coupons
. I usually only have the left side filled with coupons and use the right side to hold the coupons for my trip. Honestly I love all the extra space!
If you would like to get your own MyCouponKeeper, Brandi is offering my readers a 10% discount off ANY purchase! Just use the code IHEARTPUBLIX10 in the special instructions box at checkout. Plus, if you are the winner of the giveaway below, Brandi will refund the amount of your purchase plus shipping and handling…so there’s no need to wait if you want to grab one of these! Head on over to MyCouponKeeper to check it out, I think you all will love it!
Brandi has offered up another giveaway for us! One I Heart Publix reader will get their very own Deluxe MyCouponKeeper system that includes the following:
- Coupon Box 15 “W x 6″D x 4.75H”
- 2 adjustable divider to support coupons in box when not full 3.2″x7.2″
- 3 Purse Size Shopping folders 6″ x 8″
- 48 Durable PVC Coupon Guides
- 48 Durable Pre-printed Category Labels

To enter, just leave a comment on this post. Plus, get two bonus entries when you:
- “like” MyCouponKeeper on Facebook
- Tweet the following: “I just entered to #win an AWESOME coupon organizer from @MyCouponKeeper over at @IHEARTPUBLIX!”
