Method
- Preheat your oven to 425°F.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt.
- Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Stir in the shredded Gayo Azul Gouda and the chopped ham until evenly distributed.
- Pour in the cold buttermilk and mix just until a soft, shaggy dough forms. Do not overmix!
- Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and gently pat it down to about 3/4-inch thickness.
- Use a biscuit cutter to cut out biscuits. Rework scraps as necessary.
- Place biscuits on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- Bake for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown on top. Serve warm and watch them disappear!
Notes
Notes: This recipe makes 6 - 8 large biscuits or 10 - 12 smaller biscuits. Larger biscuits may require more baking time.
