Easy Buttermilk Biscuits

Ingredients
  • 2 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 8 tablespoons Smart Balance® Buttery Sticks
  • 1 cup cold buttermilk
  • Smart Balance® Buttery Spread if desired
Instructions
  1. Preheat oven to 450º F.
  2. Cut the Smart Balance® Buttery Stick into small pieces and place in the freezer for 5 – 10 minutes.
  3. In a large bowl, mix flour, baking powder and salt.
  4. Add cold Smart Balance® Buttery Sticks to the flour mixture and cut in with a pastry blender (or fork or fingers – whatever works!) until small pebble size crumbs form.
  5. Add cold buttermilk and stir to combine – do not over mix!
  6. Turn the dough out onto a floured work surface and knead 5 – 10 times.
  7. Roll out dough to 3/4″ thickness and form or cut 8 – 10 biscuits.
  8. Place on an ungreased baking sheet an inch apart.
  9. Bake in 450º F oven for 12 – 15 minutes, or until top is golden brown.
  10. Serve warm and spread with Smart Balance® Buttery Spread if desired.
