  121. There is only my 80-year-old and I still left now. So, no fancy high priced restaurants for us this Mother’s day. Just some good quality time with my Mother.

I would take the rotisserie chicken and cut it half. One-half of the rotisserie chicken would be put away in the refrigerator for another meal with my Mother later. She was always thrifty that way. The other half, I would serve it to my Mother this Sunday.

A coupIe of years ago, I came upon a roast chicken recipe that my Mother use to fix for us, 3 boys. My Mom has even said that being able to roast a Chicken should be a requirement of motherhood. Today, thing are different in the kitchen than they were 60 years ago, but Mothers still hold many of the same values. They want to serve their families delicious and nutritious meals.

One of my Mother’s favorite things that she hasn’t done in many years is to have Bruch in the garden. So, this Sunday brunch for Mother’s Day luncheon with just me and her. With or without the rotisserie chicken, I definitely plan on having plenty of them at our Home! Even if it’s just Hot Dogs and chips on any day, I will make plans to recreate some of my Mom’s favorite things. And it would be my great honor to show her the amazing and awesome moments she has shown me.

    Happy Mother’s Days,
    Alan

Re: Time For The “Make One List. Make One Trip” Promotion! + $100 Publix Gift Card Giveaway!

    Dear Michelle and P & G Folks:

There is only my 80-year-old Mother and I still left now. So, no fancy high priced restaurants for us this Mother’s day. Just some good quality time with my Mother.

I would take the rotisserie chicken and cut it half. One-half of the chicken would be put away in the refrigerator for another meal with my Mother later on. She was always thrifty that way, so are her boys. The first half of the chicken, I would remove the bones for her and serve it to my Mother this Sunday on her finest china that she has. But first, waiting for her would be a Beautiful Bouquet of a Dozen Premium Rose and a Hallmark Greeting Card.

A couple of years ago, I came upon a roast chicken recipe that my Mother use to fix for us, 3 boys. My Mom has even said that being able to cut up and cook a Chicken should be a requirement of motherhood. Today, things are very different in the kitchen than they were 60 years ago, but Mothers still hold many of the same values she says. That they want to serve their families delicious and nutritious meals. I remember that she always tried to use season ingredients. Since Corn is just now coming in, I would cut the kernels from 5 ears of cooked corn for her. I’d sautée fresh yellow & zucchini squash and a few Vidalia onions in olive oil. There would be warm Italian Five Grain Bread with sweet creamy Butter. Fresh Brewed Tea over ice. We’d have a slice of Chantilly Cake for dessert. We have Coffee with real cream & sugar.

I wish that I could call up some of the forgotten dishes from my childhood. Most all of those incredible recipes are irretrievable now. More than any lost recipe or some remembered delicacy from our childhood is what captives me, captives all of us, looking back through those years of how our Mothers merged the ingredients from scratch. I crave it! The past. How it formed me and my 2 brothers. How it formed all of us. How it Fed and Nourished our little bodies as children. Much later, we would discover that our Mothers were Feeding our Minds and our Souls, too. Our Moms made us who we are.

I guarantee if our Moms did the cooking for the NASA astronauts at the International Space Station, they would never want to leave Space. Our Mothers must go to some Special Secrete School and get the highest Degree there is. It is so much higher than Bachelors, Masters, Doctors or any Law Degree, because Mother’s know everything. They are our Doctors when we are ill, Chefs when we are hungry, Banker when we need monies, etc. It is a never-ending list of things that Mothers do for us. If reincarnation exist, I hope and pray that I do not come back as a Woman, Mother or BOTH!!! It is just too hard of a job. Please just let be come back as a man! It is so much easier that way.

One of my Mother’s favorite things that she hasn’t done in so many years is to have Bruch in the Garden. So, this Sunday brunch for Mother’s Day will be with just be her and I. I definitely will plan on having plenty more of them at our Home. Even if it’s just Hot Dogs and Potato Chips on any day. If she’s there it’s worth it, Now, I am starting to wonder who Mother’s Day is really for and who gets more out of it. We show our appreciation and praise to our Mother’s, but her children get a purpose of planning the day and activities. We get to remember those times that only a Mother could create. We love her more than the life she gave us. An Unknown Source says it best as to how deep a Mother’s Love runs for her children: “If I had to choose between breathing and loving you I would use my last breath to tell you I love you.”

Because of the inspiration this Contest has given me, I will, this Mother’s Day Sunday, ATTEMPT to recreate some of my Mom’s favorite moments in the Garden. And it will be my greatest honor to show her the amazing and awesome respect that she has shown everyone throughout her life.

    Happy Mother’s Days, Mom,
    Wayne

My Mother calls me by middle name.
