Happy Friday everyone—I hope you all had a great week and a wonderful Thanksgiving.
I enjoyed the day with my guys. It was kinda nice to relax a bit but we did miss being with our families. We did enjoy lots of tasty food and there are plenty of leftovers. But, I think I am going to send my husband out for takeout tonight. I think my guys are hoping for burritos instead of holiday foods at this point.
I almost forgot it was Black Friday. I am guessing most folks are shopping online at this point? Maybe I’ll hop online a little later and check out the deals. I hear that we are going to need to act quickly to ensure everything ships in time. Jeb always wants retro games off Ebay so I might have to get his stuff purchased ASAP to ensure he has presents to open. It’s crazy to think that Christmas is just a few weeks from now.

The registers at Publix are programmed to process transactions only if the number of additions (items scanned) is equal to or greater than the number of deductions (coupons including digital coupons, paper coupons, and Publix store coupons). If the deductions exceeds the additions, the transaction requires a manager’s override.
To avoid that situation, and to keep from delaying those behind you in line while a manager is summoned, it is easiest to add “filler” items to your transaction. Filler items should be low cost items that you would buy anyway but would never have a coupon for. Single bananas or single apples are my favorite filler items, but you should select filler items that work best for you.
In the photo, my apples are not bagged so that I could have I had the cashier scan each apple up separately – the four apples counted as four scans. IT IS VERY IMPORTANT THAT THE CASHIER TO SCAN EACH ITEM SEPARATELY, YOUR PLANNED PURCHASES AS WELL AS ANY FILLER ITEMS. The goal is to make your total additions equal to or greater than the total number of deductions. In this transaction, I had 21 items scanned and 21 coupons redeemed.
