Take it away, Kelly!
I wanted to do a little write-up to all the working women (and men) out there who say that couponing is too “time consuming”, and that saving a few cents here and there isn’t worth the time you have to put in. Let me say that since graduating college, I have been a proud full-time career woman, some would say “professional”. I have always been a breadwinner, and even as a mother, never slowed down. Of course, when I would shop for groceries and hear the cashier ask “Do you have any coupons today?”, I never did. After all, I was “too busy” to clip coupons and save a few cents here and there, especially since I was always earning such a good living.
Well, during this last recession, my husband and I experienced the worst drop in business we have ever had, and quite frankly, some days we didn’t know if we were going to make it. It was during this time that I told him, “I am going to start clipping grocery coupons!” I said it half-heartedly but somehow googled “Publix coupons” and found iheartpublix. My life has honestly never been the same again! Seriously! I remember looking over the site and learning about “stacking” and what an SS and an RP was! I felt I was learning a whole new craft. I remember printing the first coupons (after all, I didn’t have any SSs or RPs at that time, since I had never saved them before) and looking forward to my first little trip to Publix. I watched as the total went down and, like any good drug, I was hooked. I started spending every Sunday night going over that week’s sales and gathering up my coupons, and never have I missed a minute of work or let my business slip due to couponing…nor have I given anything else up!
In just about 2 years now, I estimate conservatively that I have saved about $3000 in groceries. It makes me a little bit sick to my stomach to think of the money I literally used to throw away! I am also proud to say our business has never been better and I absolutely intend to keep couponing as it is FUN and saves so much money!!!Best advice to working folks…get yourself on a schedule–one or two nights a week spend some time on the iheartpublix site and print your coupons. And never ever think that a dollar here and a dollar there doesn’t add up because oh yes it does!! And join Facebook couponing groups…they are great ways to network with others.
Happy couponing to all of you!!
