Coupon Question And Answer – Best Of Ask I Heart Publix 10/29

coupon question and answer

We’ve been answering questions for Ask I Heart Publix for over four years now, and we’ve definitely found that some questions keep popping up as new couponers write in. So every month we’re going to feature a “Best Of” Ask I Heart Publix, where we post some of our favorite questions and answers from past weeks, months, and years.

Don’t worry….we’ll still be answering the new questions you guys send in, too, so keep sending in those questions! Just remember if we didn’t get to your question this week…we will do our best to cover it another week!!

Don’t forget to look under the “About” tab where you can find the questions and answers from past weeks!

Here are this week’s “Best of” questions:

  1. I know you run I Heart Kroger too…what are your other sites?
  2. How do people know when there’s a good coupon being offered on Facebook?
  3. Why can’t I load a Upromise One or Many Offer that is still valid to my card?
  4. Do you think the potential savings is worth the investment and electricity costs of a deep freezer?
  5. Did I get the best deal?

And here are the answers!

1. Ashley wants to know: I saw you mention in one of your recent posts that you run I Heart Kroger, too… what are your other sites?? :)

Michelle: I own I Heart KrogerI Heart Saving Money, and I Heart Kitchen in addition to I Heart Publix. I think you all know which store I Heart the most, though!! :)

Try Me Tuesday – Publix Maple Syrup

maple syrup publixWelcome to this week’s Try Me Tuesday. Each week I will grab a new set of products and test them out. I’ll put the Publix brand up against a national brand product and report back.

I know many times I struggle with what brand to choose. Often a sale or a coupon/sale combination make that an easier decision…but what about those times when you need an item and there is not a sale? Do you grab the house brand or pay more and get the national brand? More importantly, is there really a difference in taste?

This week we tried maple syrup. I needed some for a recipe so I figured I’d kill two birds with one stone.

Publix Premium Maple Syrup, $6.69

Serving Size 1/4 Cup
Calories 210
Total Fat 0g
Sodium 5mg
Total Carb. 53g
Sugars 47g

Ingredients: Pure Maple Syrup

Maple Grove Farms Maple Syrup, $7.79

Serving Size 1/4 Cup
Calories 210
Total Fat 0g
Sodium 5mg
Total Carb. 53g
Sugars 47g

Ingredients: Pure Maple Syrup

Results

  • Publix Syrup – 2
    Maple Grove Farms – 2

Now I never look at the nutrition labels before I do the taste test. Had I looked I wouldn’t have been surprised that this one was a tough one. These tasted pretty much identical. I think my crew just randomly chose one as it was next to impossible to really taste a difference.

As you can see the nutritional info was identical. I know not all maple syrups are identical but these are super similar. The only thing that I might note is that the Maple Farms might be slightly thicker…though not much!

As you can also see, the Publix brand is a buck less than the national brand. With the difference in taste being so very close, I’d grab the Publix and save my buck!

Have you guys tried both? Could you tell a difference?
