He was released early so I brought him home and we proceeded to look through the fridge to determine what to throw together for lunch. The pack of Ball Park Lean Beef Franks caught my eye and Jeb agreed that it sounded like a great lunch.

I have posted various coupons that have popped up over the past few weeks. I finally got a chance to grab some when I shopped the other day. I have to tell you guys – they taste great!

I am a bit of a snob when it comes to hot diggity dogs. I love the taste of a beef hot dog but usually go with turkey to save some calories. While the turkey dogs taste ok – they just are NOT as good as a beef hot dog. With the Ball Park Lean Franks you get the best of both worlds! They are made with 100% beef  - so you can cut the calories without sacrificing flavor.

Jeb and I had a little picnic…it’s such a beautiful day. I opted to add a little bit of cheese and some diced tomatoes to my frank. My husband says that I never eat anything the “normal” way. I thought I’d ask you guys to weigh in on another Ask the Readers question this morning. What would you say to a reader who asks the following:

I recently was reading something put out by Publix about how comparable their product is to the national brand. They were saying no matter what store it is, that most of the store brands are made by the national brand it’s being compared against so there isn’t any difference in taste, only in price.

My question is, how can one find out what store brand product is made by what company? For instance, who makes the Publix brand peanut butter, and so on? I think this would be good information to have and I think if people really knew then they might be more willing to buy the store brand.

I’m sure there is some secrecy thing involved, but it’s worth asking. I have an old Navy buddy that runs a Kraft plant in Ohio where they make marshmallows. He said that almost every store brand of marshmallows out there are made by Kraft. The only difference is that the store brands have a smidgen less sugar. In the end, the store brand is cheaper and has less sugar for the kids. Sounds like a win win to me!
