portobello pizza copy Portobello Pizza Tide You Over TuesdayMy guys would be happy if I served pizza every week at my house. Amanda over at A Few Short Cuts has an interesting option that may make pizza more of a weekly option!

This week she has Portobello Pizza as her Tide You Over Tuesday snack. What a clever idea to fill a mushroom with all the goodness of a pizza without all the starch and calories from the pizza dough!

Throw these together for a meal or an appetizer – sure to be a winner however you serve it!

Homemade Gravy Mix – Tide You Over Tuesday

February 5, 2013

Amanda over at A Few Short Cuts has a great recipe for us today - Homemade Gravy Mix.

This is one of those items that so many folks think is harder than it really is. Homemade gravy is super simple and so much better tasting (and better for you) than the packets. The two minutes it takes to gather your ingredients is the only thing that  will increase your prep time on this.

Check out the recipe and give it a try the next time you whip up some mashed potatoes.

Cheese Steak Stuffed Peppers – Tide You Over Tuesday

January 29, 2013

CheeseSteak Stuffed Peppers copy Cheese Steak Stuffed Peppers Tide You Over TuesdayI just love Amanda’s Tide You Over Tuesday recipe this week – Cheese Steak Stuffed Peppers.

I make stuffed peppers every couple of week. This is such a fun change to the standard stuffed bell pepper recipe! I think this is one that my guys would really enjoy.

I think I will parboil the bell pepper a bit as I prefer a softer pepper and I am not sure 15 minutes in the oven would get it quite as tender as I prefer them to be.

Head over to A Few Short Cuts to check out the recipe.

I am planning on baking up some Scalloped Potatoes & Ham with some of my ham. If I can find some spare time, I might give her pretzel bites a try too! I am thinking these and some warm honey mustard might be a great snack or even the makings of a great meal.

Cheesecake Pops – Tide You Over Tuesday Treat

January 1, 2013

Cheesecake Pops copy Cheesecake Pops Tide You Over Tuesday TreatThis week Amanda at A Few Short Cuts shares a great idea for a simple treat – Cheesecake pops.

Almond bark just makes everything yummy. Coating pre-made cheesecake with almond bark is sure to be a hit. If you want to bump these up a notch, stick a maraschino cherry (or strawberry) in the middle of your cheesecake ball then dip it in the almond bark. My personal favorite is Chocolate Covered Cherry Cheesecake–YUM!

The options are endless! Get the kids to help you for even more fun!

Crock Pot Cornbread Dressing – Tide You Over Tuesday

November 20, 2012

crockpot cornbread dressing1 copy Crock Pot Cornbread Dressing Tide You Over TuesdayAmanda over at A Few Short Cuts has a great option to help you save some time this Thanksgiving – Crock Pot Cornbread Dressing.

I love to utilize my slow cooker when preparing holiday meals. I make a fantastic mac & cheese in the crock pot that gives me back time to cook up the other goodies. I am not one of those lucky gals who have a double oven so using the slow cooker means I don’t have to worry about timing everything so it will be warm and ready to serve at the same time.

A buddy actually told me that I should use the slow cooker for my mashed potatoes too. We all know how quickly these can get cold (and yucky)! The crock pot is a way to make sure you have warm potatoes to serve to your guests.

So, head over and visit Amanda to see how you can give yourself a little extra time on Thursday.
