chocolate covered cherriesDid you guys see the sale on cherries going on at Publix this week. The boys and I LOVE cherries so I grabbed a big bag for us to munch on.  I just had to share the treat the boys and I made this evening…Chocolate Covered Cherries.

I happened to have some of that Baker’s Dipping Chocolate. If you have never tried that stuff…you have to give it a go. It’s a little cup of melting chocolate and you simply microwave it and voila…dipping chocolate. You can also grab it at Publix when you pick up your $1.99/lb cherries.

Now, I use my handy dandy cherry pitter but you can also use a paper clip or bobby pin if you don’t have a pitter. (If you eat a lot of olives and/or cherries–you need that pitter!) Just remember to pit the cherry from the side and you can leave the stem intact. It makes them look pretty and also gives you a nice little handle to eat those little morsels of deliciousness!

I took care of the pitting and the boys did the dipping. In no time flat we had a big batch ready to pop in the fridge to let set.

Chocolate covered cherries are super expensive so why not whip up a homemade batch for a fraction of the cost of those you’d have to pay for pre-made ones. With the Publix sale you can whip up a super tasty treat for about $5!
