My boys have been under the weather all week. They just have colds but you know when you are 6 and 7 – and not very good at blowing your nose – a cold can be very frustrating. Both boys have had fevers so they have been kinda pitiful. Last night my oldest decided to add vomiting into the mix. So…I am officially pooped and really need to find a way to get some sleep. Maybe somehow I can find a way to work in a nap or maybe sleep in an extra hour tomorrow morning.
On top of the fun with the boys, we had a bit of an issue at our old house. We have yet to move everything from our house in Georgia. So my husband went up this morning to grab another truckload and found that at some point since our last visit we had a leak in the upstairs powder room. The leak managed to cause massive damage to the powder room floor, as well as the ceiling, carpet and hardwood floors below. So I have been on the phone with the water damage folks and the insurance company to see what this will cost us. We have some money tucked away for home repairs, but I am really afraid to find out exactly what we will be paying. Of course it could have been so much worse, so I am thankful he made the trip this morning. My husband said we were lucky that it didn’t cause a fire. The water got to the electrical something or the other and tripped a bunch of breakers – Yikes! Please keep your fingers crossed that this can get fixed lickity split (without completely wiping out my emergency funds). I can tell you this little experience has definitely lit a fire under us to get everything out of that house and get the house on the market. We were trying to get past the holidays but it looks like we might need to move a little quicker.
In the grand scheme this is just a little bump. We’ll get past it…I am just hoping it’s quickly
You guys will have to forgive my laziness as I am not going to type everything up. I did spend quite a bit as I took the opportunity to use the gift card coupons to reduce my out of pocket a bit. The receipt says I saved $89.31 which is pretty good…but I did end up spending $137.67 of my grocery budget. I got milk, bread, eggs, fruit and lots of baking essentials. Not the best week ever, but we saved a chunk and the fridge, freezer and pantry are stocked – so I consider it a success.
The boys are sitting here with me on the couch. We are all bundled up so I think we’ll start Friday Movie night a bit early while we wait for my husband to drive back home.
Now it’s your turn to share your savings. Let’s hear about your trips. Share in the comments below or link up.
