Thanks Happy! If you did the Butterball deal around the holidays you should have received your 5 $1 coupons on ‘any fresh or frozen’ Butterball product. This really helps bring down the price on those 2/$5 items.
The Nutrigrain bars were only $2.99 in my store. Yes!!!! I made a boo-boo though and feel really bad about it. I kept trying to figure out how my total was so low while i was driving home and just looked at my receipt and saw what happened. I have used the Nutrigrain bar coupon from the Adv Buy Flyer a couple of times of the past couple of weeks and know that the bars are $2.99, so when the cashier asked me how much the Nutrigrain bars were (she didn’t want to look them up on the register), I told her $2.99 (not thinking about the current BOGO sale0which is half price BOGO in my area) instead of $1.50. I used four coupons since I bought 8 boxes, so I paid $5.96 less than I should have. I called back up to the store to talk to one of the CS folks I talk with when I shop and she had gone for the day. I don’t want to get the cashier in trouble by bringing attention to it, but I also don’t want her to get into trouble for making the mistake, so I am not really sure how to handle it. Suggestions! I won’t be able to go back to the store until Friday (it is approx. 25 minutes from my home, so not super easy to drop in since I work FT and don’t live near.
Mary, I think it’s amazing that you’re so honorable about your coupon use. I’ve been in your shoes a time or two, where I’ve made an honest mistake that ended up being to my benefit like that. As couponers, we try to be helpful in situations like that and give them the prices to save time. But ultimately, it’s up to the cashier to ensure that the correct amount is keyed in.
And while I felt guilty the last time this situation happened to me, I figure things end up balancing out over time. I’ve had times, as I’m sure you have, where you got home and realized that the store rang something up wrong, missed a coupon, etc and ended up overcharging you.
I wouldn’t feel too bad about it, and I wouldn’t bring it up to CS… especially if the store is that far away (So it would cost you $6 just to drive there and back!). Just consider it a learning moment!
Thank you Shannon and Katie for responding. I was home about an hour last night after I typed this and couldn’t stand it anymore. I called the store and talked with one of the CS girls and explained the whole situation. She told me thanks for calling and not to worry at all about it. Guess that’s what I’ll do. My conscience gets the best of me-one time I was going to get some Tyson Chicken Fingers for $6.99 thinking I had a coupon but couldn’t find my coupon so when I was at the register I told the cashier I didn’t want them so she put them on the back corner of the bagging area for them to be returned to stock. Well guess what, I got home and there those chicken fingers were in my grocery bag. I felt horrible. I am a strong believer in what comes around goes around, which I guess is also known as karma. I just kept thinking that if we ate them without paying for them we would probably all get sick or something so I did what I thought anyone would/should do and the next time I went in the store I told the CS person about it and asked to pay for them. She looked at me like I had three eyes and typed in the price as a grocery special item and I paid my $6.99 plus tax. Boy, did I feel better. I don’t see how people misuse coupons the way some do and don’t feel the least bit guilty about it. And Katie, I typically let a lot of the minor errors go at the store. 5 bucks I would ask for, but I have had coupons that didn’t get scanned (here recently a $2 one) and I usually think like Shannon about things balancing out. Thanks so much for y’alls input.
You could always go to the store on Friday, ask to speak to a manager, not give the cashier’s name, and explain your story and ask what to do. I personally would have the extra amount in hand and ask how they would like you to ring it up.
And this is why… like Shannon G says, it’s probably happened the other way before, where you, not the store, get cheated. I would think about how you handle those situations. When errors happen in my favor, I try to respond in a way that I feel like is consistent with when they happen “against” me. So if I am going to go to the store and politely ask for my $5 back because they rang something up wrong, I am also going to go to the store and offer to give them their $5 back. (Likewise, if you genuinely don’t care if they accidentally don’t ring up your coupons or ring something as overpriced, IMO you don’t need to worry about this $5.)
My store didn’t have the Buitoni Fettuccini/ Linguine bogo but did have Kraft Fresh Take’s bogo and thankfully I had 3 $1 q’s. Also, heads up on the nutri-grain bars, I found specially marked boxes (strawberry only at my store) w/ q’s on back. Here is the list of q’s. All expire 11/1/13.
Save $1 on two Frosted Mini-Wheats Crunch and/or Cinnamon Jacks Cereals (10.7 oz. or larger)
Save $1 on one nultipack of Dannon Activia Breakfast Blend (4-pack)
Save $1 on fresh fruit when you purchase any two Nutri-grain bars (5 ct or larger, any variety, mix or match)
Save $1 on any two Kelloggs cereals (10 oz. or larger, any flavor, mix or match)
Save $1 on fresh fruit when you purchase any three Kellogg’s cereals (10 oz. or larger, any flavor, mix or match)
I’m using the $1 off fresh fruit when you purchase 2 coupons on my 2nd trip of the day this afternoon. Woohoo!
Unfortunately, the Gerber Graduates are 4.23 oz that are 2/$3 and the coupon is for Gerber 2nd foods not graduates and states it can be used for the “3.5-oz pouch or 2-pk. 3.5-oz cont.” Too bad, I could have used that deal!
Thank you Happy for the report. I always look forward to this report each Wednesday.

Oh, I hope the Buitoni is everywhere! Would love to pick some up
