Good deal but half of the reviews on the first page said it wouldn’t freeze or quit after just a couple of days and everything spoiled…I’m too leary to try.

Any idea how much your power bill goes up having one of these things when they are kept in the garage? That’s what has kept me from getting one yet.

  3. Caroline says:

We have not noticed any increase in our power / electricity bill since getting the chest freezer. I’m sure there was an increase, but not noticeable enough for us. The deep freezer is so much better than our regular fridge/freezer – It really keeps the food from spoiling if for no other reason than it gets opened and closed less frequently. Family members will walk up to the kitchen fridge/freezer and just stand in front of the open door and increase my electric bill, but nobody seems to want to go out to the garage and do the same thing. My opinion is that the deep freezer is a must-have for any extreme couponer.

Shipping is not free on this. BB claim a mistake on their website. Shipping is not available, but $69.99 “Delivery” is.

  5. Kelly says:

Yeah, the reviews on both are too scary! I’d be devastated if I lost that much food. I pass up a lot of good deals though because my regular freezer is full, so I really need one!

Does anyone have a chest freezer that they recommend?

I say buy an upright. I am constantly digging around and reorganizing because I just throw the new food on top. I have had a chest freezer for 3 years now and love the extra space but am going to splurge soon and get an upright.

  7. Phyl says:

I’m scared off by the reviews, too. I read in the specs that it only costs $18 per year to operate – but it sounds like it rarely operates. As much as I’d love a small freezer, this one sounds scary.

  8. Patty says:

I agree that an upright is a better way to go. Had a chest freezer for years and the upright is much easier to organize

  9. Caroline says:

Since I started following Michelle’s websites, my deep freezer is so full that I had to make an Excel spreadsheet to keep an inventory listing of all of my frozen food.
