Happy Friday everyone!
I hope you guys have had a great week. It was a decent week on my side of the world. I had some car issues which turned into a bit of a pain. For some odd reasons, to change the headlight in my car you have to take the whole front bumper off? So, that meant a trip to the car dealership. My Acadia is about 5 years old so it was due for a check up anyways. Well…a few days AND dollars later, I have that new light bulb, a new water pump, new tires and some rack & pinion dealio…ugh!!
We do have a vehicle budget – but, it stinks having to use a big chunk of it this early in the year. Please keep your fingers crossed that I don’t have any other issues any time soon!
As for my grocery shopping…that was a bit better! I ended up going to Publix last weekend and again one night this past week. Since I was without a car, my husband ended up taking me one night. I had the whole family in tow. It actually ended up working out OK as I had Jim push the boys in a cart and grab coupons while I did the shopping. I figured we’d meet up and they would have buggy full of junk but I was thrilled when all they had were some blinkies and a booklet.
So here’s what I picked up in two trips to Publix (I just combined everything to make it easier)
Lean Cuisine Salad Additions x 12 = $12 ($1/1 insert)
Jimmy Dean Delights x 6 = $3 (six $2/1 insert)
Weight Watchers Frozen x 2 = $2.98 (two $1/1 IP)
Laughing Cow x 2 = $4 ($1/2 Tearpad)
Frusion x 2 = $2 (two $1/1 IP)
Grapefruit = $0 (free wyb 2 juice PQ)
Bananas = $1.41
Watermelon = $3.58
Fresh Express Salad = $1.99
Smithfield Ham x 6 = (-$1.48) (six $2/1 insert)
Jennie-O Turkey Bacon x 2 = 99¢ (two $1/1 IP)
Ocean Spray = (-$1) (two $2/1 IP)
Banquet Pot Pie x 3 = 89¢ ($1/3 blinkie)
Ken’s Dressing x 2 = $2.55 ($1/2 insert)
Crackerfuls x 3 = $5 (B2G1 IP)
Ovaltine x 2 = $5.78 (two $1/1 home mailed Q – thank you Rachel!!)
Bread = $1.79
Softsoap x 10 = (-$2.10) (ten $0.50/1 peelies & two $5 gc tearpad)
I got all of that for a little over $46! I really stocked up and loved those few items that gave me a little bit of overage – it’s a rare thing at my store!

I never see blinkies at my store. Have not seen any new books lately. Has everyone heard about how 33 Sweetbay store are closing as of Feb 14, have 2 in my area of Pasco.
I have to giggle when you say you had Jim and the kids looking for blinkies and booklets! It is a great way to keep them busy though:) I’ve had my little one home sick with me the past couple days and we’re headed to SC tomorrow to visit with family and I must say I’m having publix withdrawl!! I’m sure they wonder where I am! I did escape last night for a quick trip to Kroger to grab some awesome closeouts you had posted on iheartkroger, but other than that nada! Hopefully I can head to Publix late Sunday and at least grab some mountain bread!:) thanks as always for all you do!
LOl I too have the same moment of “What will they bring back” when I send my husband off without my kiddos to shop, that made me laugh!
Sorry to say but I had a 2007 Acadia and had a lot of issues with it. Thank goodness I had an extended warranty. 3 power steering pumps, 1 water pump, right front end sway bar, cv joints and major transmission problems all paid for by the warranty and extended warranty. I got rid of that sucker shortly after the warranty ended. Now I’m a proud mama of a 2012 Ford Edge Sport. Hopefully yours isn’t a lemon like mine was.
Half of my repairs were under warranty as well…and I am really hoping that we can make it 2 more years. It has been a great car up until now and fingers crossed I can get a few more years out of it!!
I hate car payments but I also will not do repair bills on a piece of junk either…oh the joys of vehicles…

Ugh I understand car trouble. My hubby ran off the road during a torrent of rain when three cars in front of him slammed in their brakes and the car in front of him had no tail lights. Bleh. Still had to file under our insurance sense he was the only one who stopped. Grr. I hate deductibles!
You coulda had $2 more for overage with the grapefruit…the coupon was for juice OR the fruit, so you coulda used 3 coupons!
But, I only had two coupons
I spent about $6 this week. I got 8 Emergen c, 10 Colgate, asparagus, celery, grapes, apples, 4 Quaker yogurt, 4 haagen dazs, 2 large hillshire farms turkey meat.
I did pretty good today. I only paid tax which was 9.88 . This is what I got, 24 haagen daz , 30 colgate , 14 huggies wipes single pack, 30 kikkoman packets for fried rice, 8 rudi’s bread , 21 EAS protein bars . I used 4 , 5 off 30. They didn’t give me gift card on colgate, deducted it from total. I am gonna be as big as cow next month after eating all this ice cream. Haagen daz are the best ice cream. I love the mango and coconut pineapple flavor the best. Yummm! Thank you Michelle for all you do. In case you guys wondering where I got all those printable coupons, I have 10 computers at home.
Hi Michelle, I also have an acadia. Please email me, I want to give you some info about your headlight, and your transmission, if you have’nt encountered any problems, you need to hear what I have to tell you about it. There is a big problem with the transmitions are these cars!!! It has not been a recall yet, but is an issue. My email is zurbrigg at hotmail dot com. Shenna
I am in need of a gently used SUV, as my current one has over 100K miles on it and is an 8 cylinder 4×4 gas syphon. I have been eyeballing the Acadia for quite some time now. They are so pretty. However, I will have to do some research before seriously considering purchasing that model after hearing the comments in here. I appreciate the input from current owners. I am a single mom with four kids, and definitely do not need the hassle and aggravation of frequent repairs.
@Michelle – I messed up my link, can you delete “lots of freebies this week”?
