Well guys, this is the last week of my Hurst Family Harvest giveaways. I have had so much fun sharing recipes and giving away lots of prizes.
I have made a ton of new recipes as well as some tried and true options. With winter here, I am just getting started started. Most every week until spring hits, you will find a pot of beans simmering in my crockpot! The ease and price make Hurst beans a must at my house.
Many of you have shared your goals for saving money in 2013. Keep in mind, that Hurst Family Harvest beans are a fantastic way to stretch your dollar! With a little planning you can easily get 2 – 3 meals with one batch of cooked beans. That is a whole lot of food for just $2.99! I usually serve them as a side dish, then they go in a soup/stew/chili and finally the rest are used in a cold salad or casserole. This is one of my favorite ways to stretch my budget and also keep my time in the kitchen to a minimum.
With Hurst Family Harvest, you have so many options. Honestly, you can’t go wrong. If you are not feeling creative, just grab a bag and follow the super simple recipe that is on the back of each bag.

I normally purchase the Hurst Hambeen’s 15 Bean Soup. As much as I love that product, I have no doubt the Harvest line would be as good as the bean soup.

We love the beans….we make a batch up and then incorporate them in our meals over the week….salads..beans and rice..whatever way we think will work. They are inexpensive and a good source of vitamins and fiber

This past weekend I cooked the White Chili beans with the recipe on the back of package(ground chicken, green pepper, onion, beans, seasoning packet). It was a little spicy but very good. This was my first time trying Hurst but won’t be the last. Looking forward to trying some different varieties. Thanks Hurst and I Heart Publix for the giveaway!

This is a product that I had not ever tried before or to be honest ever considered getting but because of your site, ideas and coupon advice and values my family tried the Southwestern White Bean Chili and loved it and is now a product I would purchase again and dare I might say even if there was no coupon!

I love how easy they make it to prepare a healthy dinner! I always have a few varieties on hand for using up the leftover chicken or ham bone from a previous night’s dinner. White Bean Chili and Tri-Bean Soup are our favorites!

These beans are tasty – have tried the white chili, lentils (nice smoky flavor with the sausage), and the black beans. I think our favorite was the white chili with shredded rotisserie chicken. I’d like to try the split pea next…

We love the beans and I love the fact of using my crock pot to cook them. Great meal for the family with great nutritional value. Our favorite is the tri-bean soup w/ham. Stir up some homemade cornbread – there ain’t nothin’ better!

Love the versatility and creaminess of the White beans. I am a HUGE Hurst bean lover my guys not so much. I can make a big pot with corn bread but they tend to slack off after day 2
I LOVE beans and hadn’t found the Hurst brand in my store. I will search other stores until I find them! I make Spanish Bean soup; lentil soup; chili; kidney bean salad (tossed salad with beans) and lots of meat free meals.

I have bought Hurst beans for years and my family loves them. I just recently became familiar with Hurst Family Harvest beans. We love the white bean chili and I have the Black Bean and Split Pea Soup varities yet to try. I’m sure we will like them also. Thanks for providing this information on your site to introduce us to something new. Beans are so healthy for families like ours with diabetes and a heart bypass.

I have not tired these beans before but I sure would love to try. My mom recently had surgery to remove a brain tumor and is now getting treated with radiation and chemo therapy, while I take care of her. One of the things the doctors recommend was food high in protein and iron so I will be making more beans for sure. Either win would be great. Thanks for sharing!!

They are great in our soup!!!!
I have tried the soups and thought they were seasoned just right. They smell great while cooking in my crock pot. The one I liked best was the white bean chili. The beans were high quality, I didn’t even presoak them and they were tender.
I haven’t tried them and neither have I heard of them till now. I would love to give them a try.

I tried these back in September 2012 for the first time after you had posted about them with a recipe. I fell in love with them. They are easy to use, and best of all taste great. My husband came home from overseas for two weeks during Christmas and I made them for him and he loved them too. I sent him back with 4 bags in his luggage and will be mailing him more because he as well as his coworkers love them too.
They’re a little more work than instant but worth it in the long run with the spice packet. I especially like the white bean chili or the hickory lentils. They’re easily a good meat-less, affordable meal!
They are so good especially in soup!!

We love making white chicken chili with Hurst Beans – it is one of our favorite go to “comfort” recipes.
Had them at a friends house however I have never fixed them.
I have not tried them yet but not only do I plan on trying them I am going to their website to find as many recipes that I can for the different varieties. This sounds like a great way to stretch our dollar. I also liked them on Facebook.

i try the 15 bean soup with ground beef in it other night. it was surprised good soup. and they last for few days which is good and easy on budget.

We have loved all the varities of the Hurst beans we’ve tried so far. My Dr. recently had me pull gluten and dairy from my diet (pretty devestating if you ask me!) So I trolled the internet as hungry as can be and found that I can eat beans galore! I did a happy dance and headed to my pantry for some Hurst lentils and tried out this new recipie….
Spicy Indian Dahl-
2 cloves minced garlic
1 tsp olive oil
2 bay leaves
1 cup washed Hurst lentils
2 cups chicken stock
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp curry powder
1/2 tsp turmeric
In a large pot sweat the garlic in the olive oil with the bay leaves on medium heat. Add in the Hurst lentils and coat with oil. Add in the spices and stock and bring to a boil. Reduce to low and let simmer for 20 minutes or until the Hurst lentils are soft. And enjoy!
