Ask the Readers – Help Make a Believer Out of Me Again!
May 30, 2012
Okie dokie guys, it’s time for you to weigh in and help another I Heart Publix reader! What would you say to someone who asks the following:
I have been couponing for about 4 years now. I love love love Publix! It used to be you could find really awesome deals all the time! I would say 6 out of 10 times, they paid me to shop. I have 5 kids, so a family of 7 (if you want call my teenage son one person that is).
I find myself wondering if Sam’s Club or another bulk purchase club would be better for my family now. Deals at Publix are not the greatest anymore, competitor store lists are gettting smaller and smaller, and most of the time the deals are gone by the time I get there. I went from spending $75 for 2 weeks to over $150. With the size of my family and coupon deals getting worse and worse what are your suggestions?
I know Sam’s has started an “Advantage Membership” that allows you to use in store coupons. Do you think it worth the extra $60? We have a membership and I went last week for snacks only – they usually don’t last in my house at all when I buy at Publix, but they did this past week when I shopped at Sam’s! I still have 2 boxes of cheese and pb crackers and a few bags of chips…they also had chicken breast on sale for $1.50lb!! I really want to stick to coupons but I think that in the long run it’s costing me money. What are your thoughts?
