Ask the Readers – What Apps Do You Use?
February 17, 2012
Okie dokie guys, I had a reader send in the following question and since I had no idea… I thought I would ask you guys! I would also love to hear any ideas- there have to be some good ones out there??
So….let’s hear it! What suggestions would you have for someone who asks the following:
Do you recommend any apps for a smartphone or iPad that I can use to track my savings? I have been couponing for almost a year now but i don’t really track my savings. I just got an iPad and would love to use some tools to help me be a better couponer.

I don’t know of any apps out there but I have a Numbers sheet that I found on a web page that I LOVE it tells me every little detail that I want to know about my savings month to date and year to date. You just enter in your individual shops. I’ve also shared it with several people in the forums here and they all love it.
Hello Gina, i was hoping you would share this file with me. Please e-mail me at Rupadesai19@yahoo.com. Thank you!
I’d love it too, Gina. My email is stephaniejunkin@gmail.com
email me please jenifleo1@yahoo.com
Would love this sheet as well chattycoupons@gmail.com. Thx!
I would love a copy of your number sheets too, please! wardrops@hotmail.com
I just use an excel spreadsheet that I programmed to show my purchases and my savings in cash amount, how much the merchandise was orginally worth, what my percent savings are, my OOP, what gift cards, the value of the ecb and gas cards I got back, etc….all I have to do now is quickly enter in a receipt and all the math is already tallied automatically. I also take pictures of each of my buys which I save in a file along with a document spelling out what I actually bought and what coups I used that is tagged to each picture (I do this because I am in a couponing FB group where we post pics and spell out what we bought and what we used so others can duplicate our purchases if they want and newbies can learn how ot do it). It works very well. So far, I have spent a little over $700 for 2012 but saved over $2950k and brought over $3650 in merchandise and groceries into my house with an 81% savings. Couponing has really helped my family to be able to have things we would not normally be able to have. I have 4 children, one of which is older and out of the home and living with her fiance and it is nice to be able to help them as well (they come “shopping” at my house on the weekends). We also contribute to teh school as well when they have parties in class or need supplies. So I am able to support a lot of people and spend very little and contribute where I want without having to wrry about the bottom line. I also donate monthly to the local Humane Society dog food, cat food an treats usually to the tune of around $100-$150 worth of items each time and I really love being able to do that! I LOVE COUPONING!!
Would you mind sharing your facebook group? Would love to check it out!
It is a private group that members who are already on it have to add you on but only if they are one of your FB friends, so you would need to friend me first. E-mail me at bazalee@yahoo.com and I will give you my full name so you can friend me and then I can add you no problem.
Yes, I would love to know what your FB group is also

I also use an excel spreadsheet to track all my shopping. While I’m shopping though I love to use the Grocery Tracker app (free on market) to calculate my overage during trips. You can enter coupon amounts and scan item bar codes to input the item on your list. I usually complete my list on my smartphone and then I don’t even have to refer to my printed list. This app is especially helpful when your overage items vary from what you expected.
I always take my iPad with me when I’m shopping and I use a Numbers spreadsheet to make my shopping list and track my savings. I also use the My Coupons app to track my coupon stash.
I don’t have an app but livingrichwithcoupons.com has an amazing spreadsheet that is super easy to use (i.e. does all the work for you):

I use Grocery IQ. It lets me enter the names of the stores I shop at, then make a shopping list. I can add notes about coupons, the size, the isle is is in, etc. I can make a list of favorites for each store, I can enter price information. I even entered a store named: Watch for. I use that “store to keep a list of items I need for my stock pile:
When I go to teh store, I use the app as my shopping list. I can check off items as I find them, or keep the info for the next trip.
It is a very flexible app and I really find it useful.
Just wondering about all you “techies” out there. I just got a new iPad and I can print from the coupons.com app. Just wondering if there is a way to print from red plum smart source etc, like I can on my computer.. Thanks
Wondering if there was anything special u had to do to print from coupons.com. the only thing it allows me to do is forward a coup thru email…btw all…I use the grocery iq app too. And I created a “store” for mail in rebates on hand….another for mail in rebates mailed…and another for mail in rebate checks rec’d. I am able to easily change the store from on hand…to mailed…then to recd with 1 click and no re entering. It keeps up with amounts…quantities…u name it. so user friendly i can use it for shopping trips…rebates…and u name it and I Can email my stores/lists…etc to myself with a click. love it.
LuvSavings- you have to have a wireless printer to print off coupons.com app. I also think its hp printers that are compatitable with iPhones/ iPads.
LuvSaving: if you have an iPad, iPod or IPhone you need a wireless printer with AirPrint, not all wireless printer have that feature, I have the HP Envy and I’m very happy with the printer, I installed coupon.com App in all my family Apple devices and I can print 2 coupons per device.
