I love how many of you guys have emailed letting me know how much you love the Hurst Family Harvest beans! I had planned on making the Tri-Bean soup tonight as a side but I guess I have been making so many beans that I need to restock my freezer with ham hocks!
It is finally feeling a bit like fall here in Atlanta. This is the time of year that I crave hearty beans and soups. Hurst Family Harvest to the rescue. I hope you guys stocked your pantry while they were on sale. With the regular price only $2.99 it is still very hard to beat that price for a healthy economical meal that is sure to please your whole family.
We have enjoyed trying all the varieties. I have to admit I was a little worried serving my guys Split Pea Soup–guess what …they LOVED it. I mean everyone, including my picky 5 year old. Remember they give you beans and include a flavor packet that is all natural (no artificial flavors or preservatives). All of their packages come with a great recipe suggestion on the bag to help you make a perfect meal for your family. If you have never thought of cooking dried beans you need to jump on the bandwagon! Once you taste how good these beans are (with very little effort) you will have a hard time going back to canned beans. Pair that with the cost per serving and the frugal souls in all of us will be super happy!!

I have tried the white bean chili and use rotisserie chicken in it. It was good but not great. I am wondering if it is because I am used to a tomato based chili.
Tri-bean soup is my favorite.

Tonight we are trying our first one…white bean chili. I read on the web site that you could substitute 2 cups of rotisserie chicken for the ground chicken in the recipe on the pouch, so I thought I would wait til I had leftover rotisserie chicken. That is tonight !!!

I will probably end up buying and trying all the varieties. With cold weather approaching Hurst will probably become a staple for my family. I couldn’t buy all I wanted…budget wouldn’t allow it, but plan to work them in a little along.

I have been to Publix 3 times to get the Southwestern White Chicken Chili and the Tri- Bean Soup and all three times they were sold out. I will keep trying. It seems everyone else is excited about trying them also.
I want to try the Black Bean chipotle lime. I love beans. When I was a kid and my family’s money got tight at the end of the month, we would eat pinto beans and cornbread. It was my favorite meal!

My family has tried Hurst’s Chipotle Lime Black Bean soup, and it was a hit! Two of my three are hesitant when it comes to eating beans, though they are a staple in our weekly meal planning. I made the soup using the recipe on Hurst’s website, and thickened it a little. I served tortillas, salsa and sour cream on the side. Everyone enjoyed it and some even had seconds!
I love the seasoning blends Hurst adds to their mix, the soup tasted so much better than I can create from scratch.
I also purchased the Bayou Cajun Red Bean Soup to have later on this month, and will probably use the recipe on Hurst’s website for this too.

I bought the Chipolte Lime Black Bean last week and added smoked sausage, green pepper and onion… it was SO delish! My 12 year old asked to take leftovers to school for lunch the next day. Some of us added rice too – Yumm!

finally saw them at my publix this past week – the only one on the shelf was the black bean chili – so think I will pick it up this next week and give it a try.

My Publix only carries two kinds – the Cajun Red Beans and the Split Pea. Fortunately, the red beans were the ones I wanted. WOW! That is a great soup! I can’t say enough about the beautiful color and the great taste. We will be having them again and again.

Well, I have entered the previous giveaways stating that I wanted to try the split pea soup. However, with my past weekend shopping, I picked up the White Bean Chili Hurst mix along with some chicken breasts to add into it (being that it was chilly outside). MAN, can I just say AMAZING!?!?

I have the split pea at home, just waiting for the weather to get a bit colder, but I think I’m most excited to try the white bean chicken chili. I bought only 1 bag, but will probably buy 1 or 2 more for the winter months.
Honestly, I’ve never tried them, however, I will probably try one of each. My family is always in search of new products to add to our menu! We cook a full supper every night and all sit down to the table together. Thank you for the opportunity to try this great product!

I took your suggestion and stocked up while the beans were on sale. For some reason I’ve always been scared of cooking dried beans, but it couldn’t have been easier. I picked the white bean chili and bought a few bags. The day I made it I didn’t have any meat to add except some polska kielbasa, which had also been on sale at Publix that week. I sliced some and threw it in the pot. My entire family LOVED it (kids ages 10, 7 & even the 3 yr. old!!) They scarfed it down. It had a great kick to it w/o being spicy. It warmed my kids up b/f soccer pratice that night. I took a thermos of it to the soccer field for my husband to have for dinner. I gave it to him, walked away for a few minutes, and when I came back he had demolished it! Everyone said the kielbasa made it, so I’ll try that again for sure. Oh, I also had some leftover croutons from another meal. I melted some butter and drizzled it over the croutons, and then baked them at 350 for 5-10 minutes. I sprinkled the croutons on top of the soup and it was delicious. Definitely our favorite meal last week and it was so cheap and easy. We’ll definitely be using these beans all fall and winter. Thanks so much for turning me on to them!!!

My favorite is the 15 bean soup. I have some in the freezer right now. We eat it in the summer when it is a rainy wet ucky day… Love it on a damp cold winter day too… Great with cornbread…

chili beans are such a treat come fall and here in tn we’ve just hit a cold spell for sure! I cant wait to make chicken chili with their white beans. It’ll definately be different for us. With 3 of my 4 kids wiling to eat beans, including the baby and they love them i’m doing pretty good!

I am thinking that I will try the chilli beans and maybe the black beans. I have friends who love both. Chili beans as chili and white rice of course. The black beans and yellow rice might be a good mix with some of my lemon pepper chicken… hmmm… or would it go better with the fish? Or both. I could make chili one night, fish the next, and chicken the next…

I love the 15 bean and purchaed 8 bags (big family) and am going to add some diced ham, carrots and other secret ingredients to make some tasty ham and bean soup. Along with some corn muffins to crumble up in the soup. Yummmmmy!

I bought two bags of the White Bean Chili variety. The first batch I cooked with diced pie pumpkin and tomatoes (delicious!), and the second I cooked simply with just the spice mix and onions and then used them to make meatless “meat” loaves with quinoa. Also delicious!

Love the tri-bean soup. I never win anything but this is worth a try right? I liked Hurst on facebook and came across a really yummy receipe for the tri-bean with braised chicken. Now, I’ve gotta go get some more to try out these new ideas. Yummy, it’s cold enough to have soup every night.
