Publix Coupon Policy
May 10, 2011
Alrighty guys I have received over 10 emails with the exact same policy and picture so I am thinking it is safe to say that the following is the official Publix coupon policy!
Publix accepts maufacturer’s coupons (limit one per item), Publix coupons (originals only-no copies), valid Internet coupons, and coupons from nearby competitors identified by each Publix store. (Competitor names are posted at each Publix store.) We will accept coupons from competing pharmacies for prescriptions only. We will not accept percent-off-items or percent-off-total-order coupons. We will only accept coupons for identical merchandise we sell. Acceptance is subject to any restrictions on the coupon, and we reserve the right to limit quantities. Manager approval is needed for individual coupons above $5.00. For a buy-one-get-one free (BOGO) offer, each item is considered a separate sale. We will accept a manufacturer’s coupon and either a Publix or a competitor coupon on the same item. Dollars-off-total-order coupons will be limited to one Publix and one competitor coupon per order. The order total must be equal to or greater than the total purchase requirements indicated on the coupon(s) presented.
Each store will have a posted list of competitors so be sure and ask at your store in case there have been modifications since your last visit!
I think this is a great policy and honestly not anything new for me! Feel free to discuss in the comments
Thanks to Michelle, Jean, Christy, Tonya, Sean, Jenni, Lisa, Bev, Christy, LDM and anyone I may have missed!

Nothing new for me either! Sounds great!
Sounds great! It is very reasonable and honestly, nothing new for me as well. My store already follows this policy almost identically. I am very happy that they have put out a specific policy so there are no lingering questions about what is and is not OK. I also am very happy that they are continuing to accept two coupons for one item… one of the reasons that I started shopping at Publix exclusively and not Kroger anymore. I’m happy!
Thank goodness! I was so worried. This is currently the policy at my Publix.
Looks like the same policy I follow at my store now. Will be anxious to see if they change which competitors they accept though.
Thanks for posting!
thnks for posting! I don’t see anything that I didn’t already know already.
This is the policy that all the stores in my city use already so luckily, no big change! I really was worried that there were about some drastic changes like eliminating the coupons on BOGO items.
I agree with Mary. Publix is the only store I shop now…used to be I NEVER shopped there because they were higher than Kroger. But, not anymore since I am couponing.
My store follows this same policy already. Good to see nothing has changed
Yep, it remains the same for me as well, the only exception being that they have to post which competitors they accept q’s from. That may actually help me as I was never sure what other q’s they would take at my store!
wow looks like nothing has changed glad they didnt say not doubles LOL but the one competitor is new but thats okay i dont use those much anyways!
It’s only for the $X/$XX, so it’s not really that bad, I hardly ever get those, and usually only get one if I do.
I was at Publix yesterday & had 2 employees tell me that Publix would accept a Publix coupon, a competitor coupon, & a man. coupon for the same item. I’ve never had all of those coupons for the same item & these 2 people were not cashiers, so I don’t know if it would work or not. It sure sounds good though….. I used a $2.00 Winn Dixie q with a $2.00 man. q for a bag of Purina Beyond dog food-brought it down from $6.99 to $2.99!
the easiest way to remember how to match up coupons is one mq + one sq (Publix OR competitor)= two coupons per one item (bogos are considered 2 items so you can use 4 coupons)
This policy has been in place at my Publix in the Tampa area since January. No big deal.
Same here. We’re in Brandon area.
This has always been the policy at my store. Nothing changed. Can you clarify the BOGO policy. I can still use a coupon for each item even tho one is free. Right??
as long as it is a $$ off of one item… for every item, you can use a coupon.
Nothing new for me either!
I work at Publix and yes, this is the offical policy. We just got it yesterday and each store will have a list of compet. coupons that they accept. For all the stores in Gainesville FL, we only accept Winn Dixie, Sweet Bay, Food Lion and Albertson’s.
No Target ??
you all do have a Target near many Publix stores, and what our stores do here with Target is, if it is within 6 or 8 miles (I can’t remember the distance limit) they will take it, if it is farther, they will not. Which means if I have Target coupons with good Publix deals I go to a different Publix … our also honor Dollar General coupons because there is a Dollar General practically on every corner
.
What what I was told yesterday in training, it’s only ‘tradtional grocery stores’ is what Publix is going to consider a competitor. All stores in Gainesville have the same 4 grocery stores listed as a competitor, so at this time, no Target is not accepted at any stores.
Target in Gainesville has produce and fresh meat now…
I believe Targets are only considered competitors if they’re Super Targets.
not true – we have no Super Target in Port St. Lucie, FL but my Publix (according to their copy of the new coupon policy) does accept Target coupons.
What about Save-a-lot?? That is really close to the Publix I go to in Gainesville.
My store accepts only Target and Save a Lot. Each store has different competitors. They will be listed in each store.
Same. I hope my store continues to just accept mostly who they were before. All the managers and cashiers whom I’ve spoken with (in general, not about this policy change) over my couponing time have always been generous and straightforward about the policies. I’ve gotten some great deals using Walgreens IVC’s but it’s not all the time and only since they’ve been printable, so I’m not that disappointed to have to lose those options.
Target would be tough, though. And, selfishly, I would be sad to have to spend a lot more time price checking their sales for their coupon items to compare!
I think corporate is really just making sure they have *something* written and consistent, but letting each store do it’s thing just like they and their customers always have.
We were told as cashiers that we need to stick to the new rules. Otherwise we would be back in the same boat before.
The stores are not allowed to do their own thing. The list of competitors came from corporate and the stores must abide by that list.
“The order total must be equal to or greater than the total purchase requirements indicated on the coupon(s) presented.” This part is the only part that slightly confuses me.
But the rest is what I’ve already seen at my store, and as long as they don’t take away Target (we have 2 Super Targets within 5 miles) I’ll be just fine with whoever they list as competitors. Seems very fair to me.
Oh wait I think that part is referring to the part about $X/$XX coupons. Some of the wording will probably end up resulting in some confusion, I’m imagining.
What they mean on that part is if you have say a Publix coupon for $5 off a $30 total and you also have a Winn Dixie coupon for $10 off a $50 total; then your total before coupons needs to be those added together, which would be $80
It sounds like it means this: If you have a $5/$30 Q, you have to have $30 worth of groceries in order to use it. If you have two $5/$30 Qs, you have to have $60 worth of groceries in order to use both Qs. If you have only $55 worth of groceries, you could use only one of the $5/$30 Qs.
I’m relating this to the $x/$xx Qs because that is what it is closest to in the sign, but it might also relate to regular Qs. That is, if you buy 1 Yakisoba meal tomorrow at BOGO $0.89 and your store doubles the $0.50/1 Q, you would not be able to use that Q then; you would have to buy something else so that your total is not negative. They likely don’t want to be paying people to walk out of their store!
We wil be. You can have a negative total.
Basically same as my store, also. Although, maybe they have now expanded who they consider competitors (if it is a Publix-wide policy). In the past, my store would NOT accept Winn Dixie even though it was just a mild down the road because their coupons required a rewards card, nor would they stack competitor coupons–maybe that will be different, now. I will have to go by this afternoon to check.
Looks the same for me too!! glad to have something official to make it a more pleasurable shopping experience for some.
Hallelujah! That is basically what was told to my by one of our local store managers. Nothing really new, but I think it is great that they have given their stores something to rely on. It is also great that all of the stores still have freedom to choose their competitors and limit at their discrection! Fabulous job Publix!!!!
Like always, if you want your store to have a certain competor coupon accepted e-mail corporate with the request and the store manager will contact you. Talk to the store manager first, before you e-mail though.
It doesn’t mention anything about if it will still double coupons .50 and under! Any idea?
If they do currently then yes they will continue to do so.
“Dollars-off-total-order coupons will be limited to one Publix and one competitor coupon per order.” Is that new? So I can use a publix one and an for example an albertsons one together? If so that is Sweeeeet!
I used a Publix and Save-A-Lot together the other night (at the cashier’s ushering). I was going to save the Publix one for the next trip. I didn’t know you could do that either.
Say you have a Publix coupon for $5 off a $30 total and you also have a Winn Dixie coupon for $10 off a $50 total; then your total before coupons needs to be those added together, which would be $80
Wow! This would be great! I didn’t know they would do this but I am very please with this!
Sounds about the same here as well. I am glad that its a uniform policy though and I HOPE they teach their cashiers how to do stuff, because I am tired of them always calling a manager over to verify my coupons! LOL
It’s not a cashiers fault. We are glad there is a uniform policy too; it helps us very greatly! It’s very difficult for us. At my store people were bringing in Dollar Store coupons, pet store coupons, other store “coupons” that werent really coupons( it would just say a price of an item rather than a dollar amount off).
And yes, all stores have a meeting to go over the new policy!
Dont treat the cashiers badly. You have no idea what kind of people we have to deal with on a daily basis.
LIKE!!!!
Agreed! There are meetings at EVERY store and everyone will be on the same page with this. That is why they made the policy, to make ALL of our lives easier! =-)
Girl I couldn’t agree with you more! lol
Question! Will I be allowed to STACK coupons for one item? For instance, a publix, target, etc…combined with a manu qpon? Please, respond. Thank You.
I just read it again and it sounds like you can stack a mq with either a publix or a manufacturers–which is great for me since my store would not stack competitors in the past.
My daughter works there and had a meeting this morning and they said you can stack but only manf with store or manf with compet. not both
You are right. =-)
Hmmmm.. I’M CONFUSED!!!!
What about using ONLY the PUBLIX $5/$30 purchase coupons??? Can I use one PUBLIX coupon like that, for every thirty dollars that I spend still? If I am NOT using a competitor’s? Hmm.. I’m hoping so! Our bill before coupons if almost ALWAYS over $180.00. I would HOPE that I can use 6 of the $5/$30 coupons (PUBLIX ONLY) and not have to do six separate transactions.
You would need to do separate transactions. Say you have a Publix coupon for $5 off a $30 total and you also have a Winn Dixie coupon for $10 off a $50 total; then your total before coupons needs to be those added together, which would be $80.
Yes, I do NOT use the Winn Dixie ones, I have Publix 45/$30 only. That’s what I was wondering about.. OH NOOOOO, not seven transactions
*** $5/$30 sorry about that typo. lol
The managers told us this morning that Publix is not encouraging breaking up transactions but if the customer wants to do it then they can do it.
Yep had that happen to me Sunday. Had a $10 off $40 Sweetbay, and a $5 off $30 Publix, and the total would of had to of been $70. No biggie though. I’m glad there’s not really any changes to the coupon policy.
That is one straight up amazingly awesome coupon policy. It was what we are all used to anyway, clarified! Rock on Publix!
Mandy- I think doubling will probably still vary per state (? i could be wrong, cuz they never doubled in florida)
Nate- that WOULD be sweet… I dont think ive ever had 2 $ off total coupons though.
OK – so if I had a coupon for $3.00 off razors which were on sale B1G1, making the price of each razor $2.75 should I not have been able a razor and use the coupon, having the difference to come off the total of my order? I actually was allowed to only use ONE coupon per two razors by the clerk who asked the next clerk about the policy. One other question: Does this eliminate the use of the extra reward bucks from CVS and the register rewards from Rite Aid? Both of those stores sell groceries and my local Publix has been allowing me to use those rewards off my total bill. Is this a change in that policy by inserting that only pharmacy items will allow use of the coupons?
My store did the same thing about those razor coupons. But my managers clarified that you can get overages now with the new policy. They told us that if a customer used all the correct coupons and thier total came to a negative, then the drawer would open and we would give them change back.
You will see the signs and flyers in your store in a few days telling you if they accept CVS or Rite Aid coupons.
Tony:
You should have been able to use one coupon per item. According to this quoted, “For a buy-one-get-one free (BOGO) offer, each item is considered a separate sale. We will accept a manufacturer’s coupon and either a Publix or a competitor coupon on the same item…”
You could have used a manufacturers coupon on each item AND stacked it with a pubix OR competitor coupon. As I have done this a couple times, I have walked out with $60 worth of shaving stuff for $10. Good coupons! Lucky my wife is good at this stuff!
I am relieved that there will be no big changes at my store. This is exactly what is already in place for the store that I shop at.
Thanks for posting this for us all!
Not much has changed for N.W.Fl. What about being able to use more than 1 store coupon scenario I hate having to go shopping 5 times to get the amount of somthing I need, 50 miles round trip.
I know..my store lets us use (1) X/XX coupon period! And they do not allow seperate transactions…I’m sick of being at publix so much just so I can use the $5/$25 coupon.
Concerned that I might lose my target coupon use. Target is 15-20 miles away and the only other stores in town are WD, walmart, CVS, walgreens and save a lot. They already didn’t accept CVS and Walgreens, not sure about Save a lot since I have never shopped there and don’t know if they have coupons.
you may want to find out if they take save-a-lot, because you can sign up at their website & print coupons…just FYI.
I checked with my store today and they are saying the policy will be out this Saturday, so I can’t even find out who the competitors are yet
I will check out the save a lot thing, printing their coupons will be nice, I had no idea they even had coupons. Thanks!
What a relief! Let’s email Publix and give them congratulations for their great coupon policy and for their continued superior customer service! I know I’m grateful and I plan on telling Publix that!
Not loving that we can only use a manf. coupon and either a Publix “or” a Competitor coupon now but I guess it’s better than not being able to use any competitor coupons. I liked being able to stack the 3! :-/
That’s how it’s been for us at our Publix. When I first started couponing(about 9 months ago) it wasn’t like that but i’m still okay with it.
Publix no longer excepts Walgreens and CVS as competitors. My husband is a store manager and he was told that these are not competitors and to no longer except their coupons. Only grocery stores are considered competitors now!
Is Super Target considered a competitor?
It varies on your store. It will be posted in stores soon.
Hope it remains a competitor. One Publix nearby has a Super Target directly across the highway. You can exit one and drive to the other one.
Thanks for the heads up!
Yes Super Target is a competitor. I can understand not accepting Walgreens/CVS/Rite Aid.
wow, i never thought it was really kosher to stack a publix $/$$ with a competitor one! though i never have too many of them (except for RR). what a great policy.
ohh good no changes for me in palm bay fl!!!
whew! my nerves were all twisted up…..once again Publix strives to please its customers!
Original Publix coupons, no copies? Does that mean coupons printed off Publix website are not acceptable?
that is what I was gonna ask too.
I don’t think that is what they mean, that would still be an original. What they mean is you can’t take the booklets, put them on a copy machine and make as many copies as you need. If it is available in a digital format they will more than likely not have a problem with it. Usually if I am afraid they might be concerned, I don’t cut the coupon out, so they can see where it was printed from.
However, I have seen some Publix stores do just that, and then tape them on the product…
if you print coupons from the publix website, then i would consider these original coupons, not copies- like internet coupons.
I believe what they mean is you cannot take a coupon from the ad or a booklet, copy THAT and use it,must be an original. They do not say no printed or internet ones. It would not make sense to put the up on the website to print and then not accept them.
I am not exactly too happy with the new policy. If they are not considering Target as its competitor I don’t see how we can save as much as we did when Target Q were accepted in the past.
Also, it will still not be fair if I find one store somewhere else accepting triple stacking and expired Publix coupons, and my store is not allowing it.
Technically the policy seems to say no triple stacking.
As for competitors, it seems it’s up to each store still, but that it has to be posted. I just called mine, and they said “Winn-Dixie, Save-a-lot, Target, and Sweetbay,” but in all fairness we have 2 SuperTargets within a 5 mile radius.
The competitors vary based on each store. There will be lists in each store soon! My store only accepts Target and Save-A-Lot now. Here in FL, we dont do stacking. And there is no expired coupons either.
We may not be able to save as much as in the past, but the policy is definitely fair.
And if a Publix breaks their own rules, allowing triple stacking, it takes NOTHING away from you. It’s like somebody else getting a bonus. I don’t think it will happen, but that’s like getting mad because your sister got a Christmas bonus and you didn’t. Yay for her!
No, sometimes we would recieve a coupon that was printed on a Publix ad (say the gas coupons) and someone would bring a copy of it printed on printer paper. And there really is no way to determine if an internet coupon is copied, so its just an honor system.
Actually when you have an internet coupon, they are issued a number. At my work (not Publix) we look at these serial numbers to determine if they are copies or not.
Im just repeating what my manager said this morning.
This time you could print the gas coupons from the Publix website directly from the ad–no need to pick up several papers as before.
Qs printed off their site are original Qs. But if you printed off 1 sheet of Qs from their site and then made copies using your scanner or a copier, those would not be originals and therefore not allowed.
Kailin, I understand, BUT how can one tell which is original or copied?
Cant if its an internet coupon.
Generally the ones you print from the Publix website aren’t going to be the ones they are worried about since you could grab 50 of the ads once you get to the store if your heart desired it. I think they really are refering to the green and yellow advantage buys, and the booklets. I’ve heard of people having their friends copy the coupons from booklets not found in their area to use at their store since their store only cared about the Lu #. As I understand it, the reasoning is probably that things that have limited releases (say certain booklets) are because it is more of a loss leader to them, while those found in the ads aren’t as big of a deal (and generally they come around every few weeks or months).
I think these fall under the category of “Valid internet coupons”…
I am so happy to see this policy in print. This is the policy I’ve been following for years. However, a certain cashier at my favorite store – we will call her Ms. Moss – refuses to step into the 21st century and accuses the customer of fraud whenever they present a printed coupon. She always says, “I can only accept originals – no copies!”. It is the same song and dance each time. I ask for the manager and he graciously corrects HER error and honors my coupon. Unfortunately, her memory is failing because we go through this same thing every single time…. Now I know why her line is always so short.
Whew!! That is an answer to prayer!
Only bummer for me is my store will now not take cvs, walgreens or target.
Do none of the stores take target–since it IS a grocery store? Mine has never accepted CVS, Walgreens, Family Dollar, Dollar General, etc.
varies on your store. There will be flyers and signs in the stores soon. Each store will tell you what they consider competitors.
In the past my store would take ECBs, RRs and Target Qs, but I am afraid they will tell me these are no longer accepted.
My understanding is that only Super Target is considered a grocery store. Regular Target’s grocery division is too small to be a competitor. Just like CVS and Walgreens.
Phew! I was so worried…no changes for me in SC!
Yay!!! I love Publix!
Yup, so much for the doomsayers that were saying that extreme couponing has RUINED IT FOR EVERYONE AND PUBLIX IS CRACKING DOWN IN RESPONSE. This is a policy that they were working on for about six months, and it is what my store manager told me he was expecting.
There is a difference between extreme couponing and coupon fraud.
I think this is the same policy my Publix has been opperating under all along….whew!!! I had some folks emailing me and warning me my couponing days were in for a big shut down…..happy to say “Not so!!”
I don’t think we can use multiple Publix coupons when they say “Limit of 1 per transaction”, but I’ve noticed lately that the store coupons did not say anything about a limit. Hopefully they keep this up, especially on BOGO deals.
I like this policy! I just called my local Publix in the Orlando suburbs and they are still accepting main grocery stores as competitors and Target
YAY!
same ole same ole for me tg
Sounds good! Not anything different than what I was doing anyway!
What a relief!!!! I love Publix!! It’s the #1 store!!
Sounds good to me. We have a Super Target here, so I’m glad they didn’t say we will no longer accept Target.
Thanks I Heart Publix!
Question! How will the BOGO sales work? Can we still use two coupons for a BOGO?
I was wondering this too…
yes.
will we be able to use a bogo coupon on a bogo sale?
yes. the policy above says each item in a BOGO counts for two items. So its like your purchasing two items but one is free. So you can use a BOGO coupon with it because your purchasing two.
Is there somewhere on the website that we can print an official copy of the new policy? It’s always good to have the policy on hand.
Cashiers will be handing out flyers (pictured above) to customers that come thru the lines with coupons. there will be the same policy online to print as well. BUT there will not be a list of each stores accepted competitors online. You would need to go to the store and get each stores accepted competitors. The flyer thats pictured above shows on the other side the location of the store and its allowed competitors. The flyer pictured above is the official policy and will be the same thing online.
This is Not good news
I used to be able to use on one item a publix, a Manu, and a competitors coupon
also my store accepted cvs and walgreens as a competitor. This extreme couponing show is negatively affecting my couponing experience
You were very lucky that you were able to use all of those. I have been couponing for a year now and this is no change in how all the stores in my area have been the entire time. They actually started all of these same rules last February or March (2010). One thing, though is that I didn’t know I could use a Publix and a competitor $ off $$ on one order. I have missed out. You will still be able to get good deals. . .I do pretty well. Hang in there!
i am with you mary i didn’t know either until right now!!! what a savings missed out on!
being able to use a publix and a competitor $$ off is new as of the new coupon policy (i work at publix so i know this for a fact) so dont worry you havent been missing out!
it is not clear, however, if this is before or after coupons. guess we will find out…
it is supposed to be BEFORE coupons. but i suppose some stores could vary, though they shouldnt.
My store says even if I do that I have to spend the correct amount IE I can use a $5/30 PQ and a $5/30 CQ only is I spend $60.00
That is correct and how it will continue. You just don’t have to break your order up in to smaller orders. The total (before coupons) must be the combined total of the 2 coupons together.
You were lucky! We could never use a Mmg, store and competitor. I also feel lousy for missing out on stacking the Publix and competitor $ off $$. I’m happy there’s no real change for me! I was very worried for awhile!
you aint kidding. Im ready to write the network and tell htem the damage they did by airing that. My store said they will only accept competitor coupons within a 5 mile radius
I don’t see any change from what I doing except it sounds like they won’t take my wag’s q’s for products they both carry
other than that all the same to me.
the only other thing i’ll have to find out when i go to the store is if they will take my albertsons & target q’s since they aren’t right around the corner from us. fingers crossed.
As a cashier for publix supermarkets Inc and avid couponer I do feel the need to make aware that every division as well as state will have a different coupon policy. I heart publix is not a part of the supermarket chain and they do wonderful at making sure they have disclaimers.
they have never allowed the value of coupon to exceed price of item……..are you crazy?
idk what there talking about i recieved 27 dollars back last week! the person that wrote this must not know couping to well!
I am disappointed that they weren’t more clear on the issue of overage when a MQ is for a higher value than the product (expample of the bic razors above) 2@5.49 and 2 $3 coupons – are they going to reduce the amount of the coupon to the price of the product(s) or allow the full amount of both coupons. I would have liked that part in writing.
I agree on this.
You will be able to use that. The managers told us today that if the coupon is higher than the listed price of the item, then we can use those coupons. They also said if someones total comes to a negative amount, then the drawer would open and you would get cash back for that negative amount.
Thanks for the info – is that a company wide policy or up to each manager/district?? I’m in S.Florida.. I did speak to our district manager a few months ago and she did indicate that we should get full value of the coupon – I just never felt like arguing the point with the cashier/manager over a few cents. I’d love to see it printed in the policy so there is no confusion over that one issue.
I work for Publix and can tell you without a doubt that we will be allowing overage! Cashback or to use on your order, it doesn’t matter! Keeps us competitive with Walmart. =-) Publix is reimbursed for the full amount of the coupon, so why should we deny it to out customers?
It will be nice if the stores are consistent on overage. Some allow it now, some don’t.
I have never been given overage but always thought I should. lol But I would rather get to use more than one like advantage buy coupon at a time or Targets . I usally only use 2-4 of them , In florida so we have to pay full price for one . And I dont get to the store often enough to be able to take advantage of the sale in small incriments like 1 at a time . lol. I do at times use more than 2-4 when they have some of the OTC’s or cleaning product coupons or the other expensive things on coupons. But Florida folks since we have to buy 2 items for the b1g1 free sales should get to use 2 like store or competitors coupons. Of course the home state always seems to get scr*wed with the coupon policy . I have never used Wags or any coupon like that just stores like Winn Dixie food lion and Target
Ha! This is funny b/c the Publix manager said they have never allowed overage before so I walked out and didn’t get the BOGO bic razors.
LD–I don’t think it means that you can only use one coupon on a bogo. Because EACH item in a bogo counts as a separate sale, i think it will still work the same as it has been. On a bogo sale you are allowed to buy 2 products and use 2 manu coupons and 2 store or competitor coupons. That’s how it’s been working too so if you are only using one set of coupons on a bogo you have been missing out on the best part of it!
Publix Chick, you sound like you know what you’re talking about! Thanks! Good comment, good sense!
I am in South florida too. the policy is what you see above, that is what will be handed out to customers. The only thing that varies is store-to-store competitors. On the other side of that flyer, it states what the store location is and what competitors they are accepting.
Publix chick is correct.. it was in the training to accept the coupons even if they are more than the product
Publix chick is correct.. it was in the training to accept the coupons even if they are more than the product
I wonder if my publix will take BJ’s coupons…they did previously and they did this morning as a matter of fact. I got $280 worth of groceries for just $19 using my BJ’s coupons. If they stop taking them I am going to be devastated. My publix said their policy won’t take affect until around the 23rd.
They will not be accepting BJ’s anywhere in my area. The coupons are for sizes that Publix does not carry. Check with your local store for more details.
It does take effect on the 23rd. We were told that we accept BJ’s coupons still becasue they are a manufacturer coupon. As long as the BJ’s coupons say manufacturer on them, then we will accept them. BUT they are not a competitor at my store. And it has to be BJ’s coupons for items Publix carries. If you have one that says you need to buy a three pack of an item, you cant buy three individual products. Same thing with ounces sizes.
yes, my publix only takes the ones with no size restriction. from what they were ALL telling me today it sounds like the ‘may’ not take them anymore. they told me the competitor coupons they accept will be on a store to store basis that corporate will decide.
Make sure it says manufacturer on the BJ;s coupons…
NO BJ coupons will be accepted. But you can use them until the 23rd.
thank you publix! finally something in writing.not much has changed for me w/ the exception of every once and a while the publix on dunn ave, jacksonville fla. would take 3 coupons for an item .i will be soooo happy when each store puts up comp. list.finally no more cashier esp needed.
Is this effective immediately?
It will go into effect in a couple of weeks.
May 23rd
Just wondering how the new BOGO policy (each item is a separate sale) will affect TRUE BOGO areas. Otherwise, I love that there are no major changes!
It won’t effect anything. Basically we are saying that for the one coupon per item rule. Meaning, Each item in a bogo is a separate sale, so you can use coupons on both items. =-)
Thanks so much for replying.
I wasn’t concerned with not being able to use one coupon per item….more concerned with whether the items would still ring up as $PRICE and $0 like it does now. Because it rings up that way currently, TRUE BOGO folks get both items completely free when using a BOGO coupon in that transaction.
Also wondering if current TRUE BOGO areas still have to purchase two of the items to get the deal or whether under the new policy, we’d just get the first item for half price (which is what happens in other areas now).
It is Florida law that requires the second one to be rung up at zero, so nothing in our state should change on this.
Wow….interesting! I’d love to have the site/cite of the law (statute, what have you), if you have it.
I live in FL and there is a store here, not publix that does half price BOGO. I do not think that is a state law.
Uh… FL law? Food Lion and another local grocery store ring each item, in a BOGO, as half the price. I think the second ringing up “zero” is just a FL Publix policy.
…BUT, it does seem to me that if the price of an item, in a BOGO deal, is, say (for example) $6 and each item rings up as $3, IF a BOGO Manufacturer’s Coupon is used, $6, not $3, should come off (when the coupon is scanned) because the price of one item is, actually, $6. The two items would be free, in that case.
At our local Publix stores, the 2nd item rings up “zero”, so I’ve lost track of the logistics of the items ringing up half price in conjunction with a BOGO MQ… So, I’ll have to do some thinking on it.
I think some states [GA, for example] have laws that require items in a BOGO to ring up half price. That’s to protect people who only want one item in a deal, so they don’t have to pay full price. (People should not be denied the savings, even if they only want one in a deal. [Equal protection, 14th Amendment.])
Love this discussion….maybe because I’m a nerd….lol. I googled after hearing of this “law” yesterday and couldn’t find anything. I’m typically pretty good at finding things, so hearing that other stores in Florida do ring up BOGOs as two half priced items makes sense.
I honestly think I’d be happier if Florida Publix stores went with half price for each rather than TRUE BOGO. That, to me would indicate a “separate sale” of both items. Yes, we’d lose out if we used BOGO coups (in my view), but I’d much rather NOT have to purchase two of every deal or I’d love the option of getting odd numbers of certain items.
We’ll see, I guess.
We can still use 2 like competitors or store coupons on a BOGO in florida ? I was reading it diffrent .
I don’t see the new policy as changing our ability to use two like competitor or store coups on a BOGO. As with a lot of this, I guess we’ll see how the new policy is actually implemented in stores.
My bagger told me this morning about the competitor coupon policy being tightened up.
What is interesting to me is there is no policy about price matching coupons. A few times Albertsons has had coupons for something at a certain price and I was told that since they were a price match they were not acceptable as a competitor coupon. Now the new policy doesn’t state anything about that type of coupon.
Albertsons is pretty far away so the point may be moot and they wont accept their coupons anyway.
Publix will still consider those to be price matching. Publix will not accept coupons of that nature. Only coupons for $ off a specific item, if Albertsons is allowed in your competitor area.
Publix does not price match. Only accepts coupons; which are $ amount off.
Walmart recently began running a heavy television campaign here in the Atlanta metro area–”Match it”–they are informing customers to bring in a competetitor’s grocery ad for price matching right at the register. Maybe they saw Publix’ policy (in advance) and saw they had something to talk about.
Hmmm. Still wouldn’t get me in that store.
I am sorry but the price matching would never work for me. I would much rather clip Qs than flip through a sales flyer and wait for them to adjust the price on each item. Can’t see me shopping at Walmart any time soon. I <3 Publix : )
it does….. “We will not accept percent-off-items or percent-off-total-order coupons” this is those coupons that arent a specific amount.
Great! Looks like its better for me. I didn’t even know they would take a Publix $5.00/$30.00 coupon and a competitor $5.00/$30.00 at the same time. I only used one at a time. Two separate deals, Now it Can be 1 deal with $10.00/$60.00.
Saving Gas! Whoo! Whoo!
If you have 2 X/XX coupons even if they are both Publix coupons just make 2 orders. I have done that without any issues.then you don’t have to make 2 trips. Use 2 carts if you need to keep the orders straight. I shamelessly use my children to help me with this. I used 2 of the $10/40 Sweetbay Mother’s day printables to get a regular grocery order then also bought 2 packs of Goodnights with 1 Bogo Publix Bagelsto make the $40. Had the kids in a different line with cash.
Bingo! Publix will not stop people from breaking up their orders. =-)
My store does not allow this. Gainesville, FL
How would they know? If you must, then put the first order in the car and go back.
My Publix told me today, that we didn’t have to split the orders. Maybe that is just mine though.
Mine has not required splitting of the order either. I’ll see if that will change. I just did a large order last weekend and used 3 Publix $5/$30.
Any chance you are in Jacksonville Florida?
LOL My mom used to make me do that 35+ years ago to get ice cream when it was limit one per trip. (Yes, I’m way old.) But I can’t talk my 14 year-old into doing it for me. She’s embarrassed by the whole coupon thing.
Some days my cashier told me they would take both coupons…other cashiers made me do two separate transactions. Good to know!
I usually have to go to two different stores. Good, the kids will do that for you. My son would be screaming ” That’s my mom over there, Shes using the same coupons!”
Gas cards and all gift cards do not add to the total for groceries. Gift cards are only a transaction of money.
They didn’t address the use of expired man. Or store q’s. Any thoughts? I guess this will be up to the location? I know several in our area are allowing these?
Publix will not be accepting expired coupons under any circumstances.
Mine says they will take the xx/xx for up to two weeks after expiration.
NO expired coupons
My Publix takes only Publix/Comp. expired coupons. they have or almost a year.
Mine accepts them in the same week they expire- up thru the Sat. evening. They collect them on Sunday to be mailed out on Monday.
Mine made a big deal last fall about “Publix coupons never expire” but then changed in January and said they would take them up to one month past the exp. date -for Publix only–they will NOT take an exp. man. or compet. coupon
As does mine…they take expired coupons throughout the entire expiration week.
Cashier at Curlew and 19 (Palm Harbor) told me today that they will not accept Target coupons after this week….. Not sure if it will be all of the Tampa Bay Stores.. or just some??
My mind is at ease to know that the change is not as predicted but as the mgr told me…they are smart to do this – great!! thanks!!
Cashier at Curlew and 19 (Palm Harbor) told me today that they will not accept Target coupons after this week… not sure if it will be the Tampa Bay Area or just certain stores??
certain stores!
Awesome! Way to go Publix. I am curious to see if my store will keep the same competitors but it will be nice to have a “policy” to follow for cashiers, customers, and managers! I love Publix and think this policy is wonderful!
I heard that what competitors each Publix will accept is different for each store so check with each one. Also, the policy on using a Mani with a Publix and a competitor is not too clear. I think you need to check with the individual store, although 2 stores that used to triple are now telling me that after the policy change they will look at Publix as competitors so no more tripling…bummer. When in doubt check each store because the 3 stores in my area are all telling me different things. They may not know exactly so hopefully it will all hash out in the end…and ladies/men…keep names of managers you talk to…its the only thing that has saved me from grumpy clerks and even leads on not getting the deals we were promised. : D
Happy Shopping!!!
It is perfectly clear. “We will accept a manufacturer’s coupon and either a Publix or a competitor coupon on the same item” How is that not clear? 2 coupons per item.
Oh and the comment on Publix reserving the right to limit quantities…I hope they post those limitations on each sale because I am sure it is different depending on the product…how else are we able to know??? maybe another question to ask????
: D
If there is a limit, it will be posted in the ad. Quantity rights are always reserved, basically manager’s discretion on really big orders.
I thought that this morning too at our meeting and I actually asked my manager that exact question. He said if we see someone with ten of the same item, then to get a manager.
that just seems to creat problems with the line…it really should be posted before we get to the line so that we don’t hold up the line waiting for managers when the whole situation could be avoided all together….??? maybe its me LOL…i wanna know in advance so that my in line experience is short and sweet : D
You’ve got to be kidding!
so if I have 10 milks you will get a manager? doesn’t make much sense. I just bought 10 smart balance milks yesterday with 10 coupons from the spring publix book ($1) and 10 coupons MFR(1.50 5/8), so you would have made me have a mgr look at a legit deal?? they weren’t even a sale item, no BOGO so you can’t really limit the items…. just cheaper for me to buy those then the publix gallon of milk..
I have been doing the same thing with the Smart Balance milk. $1.69/half gallon vs. $3.75/gallon for Publix milk? I’ll take the Smart Balance please!! I have just been breaking it up into getting a few (3-4) every time I shop. I know that making frequent trips isn’t possible for everyone, but it saves them the headache of stocking an item and then 2 seconds later someone clears the shelf and they may not be getting restock for another day or two….I think limits are good but it depends on shelf availability and whether it’s a sale item or not.
That’s one of my favorite policy changes… I really hope they set limits post them and stick to them… it’s so discouraging to think you have to be there as soon as the sale begins or you miss out on a sale because of the few couponers out there that will clear a shelf and not leave anything for the rest of us. I have yet to find a bottle of Nivea Body Wash that I can use my 3.00 coupon that would make it free or close to free and the coupons due to expire soon. I don’t understand why the managers at the stores in these Extreme Couponing shows don’t stop them and set limits. I mean really… does anyone need 60 bottles of excedrin?!!!! Really?!!!!
that’s the problem that Extreme Couponing is starting; now people who ordinarily might have only bought 1 or 2 of an item, all of a sudden think they need 40 boxes of cereal or 52 jars of mustard just because it’s free! Don’t get me wrong I love a deal as much as the next person and I do stockpile, but it’s not as if we would die if we were limited to 10 deals……chances are the sale will come around again, if not at Publix, then somewhere else
I really don’t think the show is the cause of all this. Shelves were cleared long before the show aired. I’m sure it has created some new couponers and wannabes but the fact is….it’s a lot of work and most people aren’t going to stick with it.
you know those are on sale at target now. mm. just saying
Check Walmart. They have it for $3.00 exactly so it will be free!
I’ve been checking Walmart since the Monday after the Q’s came out and the shelf is bare everytime… at Target too. I’m sure the shelf will be fully stocked as soon as the Q expires
I am in favor of the coupon policy change! It honestly doesn’t change how my Publix currently accepts coupons, but I am glad there will be a limit on some items. It is extremely frustrating when an item is sold out because some coupon nut bought 50 dental flosses because they were free with coupons. Seriously! Who NEEDS that much?
I agree!!!!
Why don’t you just get a raincheck? You don’t have to miss out on the sale. Most stores will even note on the raincheck to accept to MQs even if they are expired because it’s not your fault they didn’t have them in.
im happy, exepet for the walgreens this is the same polcy that i have been useing
Oh Publix, you disappoint me so. Overage needs to be explicitly addressed because currently NO stores here allow overage. What about BOGO Qs on a BOGO sale for us true BOGO peeps? Rite Aid addressed it in their coupon policy last I checked and WM addressed overage quite well. Why can’t Publix just tell us this without us having to constantly guess?
You can have overages. You can use BOGO coupons on a BOGO sale becuase each item on the BOGO counts for one item. I am a cashier at Publix and we just had our meeting this morning.
Michele, are they still doubling up to 50 cents?
I have no idea about doubling becuase I live in Florida where there is no doubling. Just keep an eye out starting around the 14th for the flyer pictured above. Maybe that one will clarify for you.
Awesome! Where are you located Michelle? I’m in Jacksonville.
In Cape Coral
Which Cape Coral store? I’m just curious is it all of the Cape Coral stores or just one that will accept overage? In the past it’s gone both ways depending on the store and manager on duty at the time…
Hey Cape Coral folks
Well in my meeting at my store yesterday, the managers said that if there is overage and if the order ends up in a negative, we will give that customer the negative total back. So my store said yes on overage. With the new policy, everything is supposed to be the same at every store EXCEPT each stores competitors. Im at Hancock and Santa Barbara. And my store has never accepted overages; until this new policy starts…
LOL, I used to avoid that store like the plague after arguing with one of the managers once to adjust a coupon down to the amount because she didn’t even want to do that. Let’s hope the store I normally go to (Shoppes at North Cape) also allows overage (they have been typically, but some of the managers wouldn’t and some of the managers would?). I’ll be excited to see.
Tara.. The only thing the training covered where doubling was concerned were the stores in Georgia who currently double.. they will continue to do so.
I have had tons and TONS of probs with the BOGO coupons on a BOGO sale!! I live in the panhandle of FL, and it has been such a headache!! I hope the mgr here doesn’t “interpret” this in his OWN way like he usually does!! Glad to see something in writing. I was told last week by the nasty asst. mgr that “soon, people like YOU will have to abide by a new policy.” Hmmm….guess “I” was right all along!! LOL!!
that is why the poilicy know states that each item in a bogo is a single item. That way you know you can use a BOGO coupon for a BOGO product. Becuase according to the new policy, you are purchasing two items per BOGO.
I feel for you (I am also in the panhandle)I have problems with all 4 stores all different policies and never the same problem twice but 1 is the worst it kills me that it is closest.
I live in the panhandle and have not had problems with the BOGO q on the BOGO item at any of our 3 closest stores…interesting
As soon as you can get a copy of the new policy, print it so you have your Publix bible in hand if ever questioned by the all high and mighty. I have shopped WalMart for years and am a new Publix convert. I have to say that I am so tired already of being treated like a criminal just for trying to save some money…(and not just at Publix)I am not a shelf cleaner or a hoarder…just your average struggling family. Hip hip Economy!
Yes but as Publix always says…It depends on the store. This policy clears up nothing!
This policy is for ALL stores. The only thing different is the stores that are competitors and that being said there is a LIST of competitors for each store. There will be no oh just this one time we will take this competitor. If the list has Target on it then that store will take Target, if it is not listed then they will not. How much clearer can it be??
lol–Just this month, I had a cashier try to give me only half the value on my Bogo coupon for the poweraid-because it was already on bogo that week- she just didn’t get the concept that the store would still get the full value of the item –hope that Pubix is training cashiers on this-not just makeing them read the policy and calling it a day.
I think this is good news. Done with all the speculating!! I am glad it’s over and Publix is still my favorite store;)
Great news! Doesn’t seem like anything has changed for me!
YAY! Just found out that my store has added Winn Dixie as a competitor and still honors Target and Save-A-Lot! This is great. The new policy has truly benefited me.
What is the location of your store?
Tuscaloosa, Alabama–Taylorville
Tuscaloosa, Alabama–Taylorville.
LIKE!
Has the issue of doubling coupons 50cents or less been addressed?
That was what I was wondering. In GA q’s up to $0.50 are doubled but I saw nothing about that in the policy…
They will still be doubling if they do so now.
I’m more interested in the “Competitor names are posted at each Publix store.” I can never get a straight answer on what my store’s competitors are.
DITTO.
I have coupons for $1 off fruit when I buy 2 boxes of cereal, $1 off eggs when I buy 2 boxes and of cereal and $1 off two boxes of cereal. Are they going to consider the eggs an item, the fruit and item and the cereal an item and let me use them all with 2 boxes of cereal or am I going to have to buy 6 boxes of cereal?
They have at my store.
I tried that last week and was told I could only use one of the coupons per 2 boxes of cereal. Made me mad, becuase I felt the one coupon went with the fruit, one with the eggs and the other with the 2 boxes of cereal.
Assuming those are all manufacturer’s coupons, I think you should have to purchase 4 boxes of cereal. Each box of cereal can only be used as a “qualifying item” once. If they “qualify” you to use the $1 off fruit, then they can’t qualify again to use the $1 off eggs. The best scenario would look like this:
Buy 4 boxes cereal
Buy 1 fruit
Buy 1 carton eggs
Use TWO $1/2 cereal coupons
Use $1 off fruit
Use $1 off eggs
Net $4 off
I wish they had clarified the dollars-off-total order coupons. The Publix in Thomasville GA always declares that the total is after coupons are subtracted, not before. That is a big difference. I always feel it is not right, and it makes me not shop there when I can go somewhere else even though it is the most convenient. Just a little more wording in the above policy would have cleared that up, one way or the other.
I have just always made sure that I gave them that coupon first–before the others.
So do I but recently they have started asking for my coupons as I check out and deducting them as they ring each item.
Ya know, that happened to me, recently, but the cashier just didn’t know that coupons could be rung up at the end of transaction. A manager told her, as I was still standing there.
I do too and I’ve had them tell me to do so before. However, I do live in TN so maybe it varies from store to store.
i simply state that you would let me use that coupon if i didn’t have any other coupons right? and the answer is always yes because they do allow that… it should be no different just because you have more because you did your homework…
and i always give that coupon first! sometimes they shuffle it around but they always take it
they can’t do this, for example the gas card deal this week states you have to buy $25 groceries to get the $10 off the $50 gas card. so I bought the groceries, they scanned the gas card. then they started ringing all the coupons. if they had rung the coupons first, I wouldn’t have $25 to get the $10 off the gas card. I did have $25 of retail groceries…. but not after coupons. they do get reimbursed for the full retail… so it is not fair for them to make you purchase additional…
This is good to know. I’m in Tallahassee and have considered making the drive to see if doubling works for me (just big orders and such)
I think they are still one of the best stores to accept coupons and it’s good to know that they are still accepting one coupon for each item on BOGO items!!
Which stores generally have the $ off $$ coupons? I get a Publix $5 off 30 coupon every week, so it would be nice to find another to stack with it!
HOW IN THE WORLD, do you get a $5/$30 purchase EVERY week!?
Yeah, HOW IN THE WORLD?
I don’t know, they just mail them to me constantly. Each one is valid for a week and I usually can’t use them all because I spend less than $30 a week. I live in an apartment complex right next to Publix so I’m not sure if that has anything to do with it.
You are incredibly LUCKY! We have NEVER EVERRRRR spent under $100 .. pshh under $130 at Publix before, EVER. And that is with three or four $5/$30 if I can get my hands on them…..
Please share…
how do you get one every week? I find them mostly from winn dixie
Wow!! Whee do you find a $5 off coupon every week? I only see these once in awhile
This is the same policy my local Publix has been following since they first opened a few years ago. I find it very fair and am happy they have finally put it in writing, it will help when I get a cashier that wants to argue go a little smoother. lol. As far as competitors mine considers any major store that sells grocery’s within so many miles a competitor (Target,Walmart,Sweetbay,Winn-Dixie). They have NEVER considered Walgreens one even thought there is once right across the street.
I’m happy with the policy and glad to have it in writing! I was told just a few days ago that I could not use a $5/30 Publix and a $5/30 Winn-Dixie in the same transaction, yet this clearly says that I can. Where can I get an official copy to print and take next time I go?cm
this is new
That is correct under the new policy you can use them both in the same order if you spend $60. The policy does not go in to effect until May 23rd and will be available on publix.com
You can probably ask your store for a copy and they should provide you with one.
This is great news! I was afraid it was going to be worse. I sure hope my Publix does not get rid of Target as a competitor. Or Sweetbay. Yeah Publix!
No where in the coupon policy is it stated that the dollar-off coupons comes after all of your coupons have been scanned at the end of the sale. Here in Tallahassee, FL that is what they do to keep me from using them.
The dollar-off-policy simply states, Dollars-off-total-order coupons will be limited to one Publix and one competitor coupon per order. The order total must be equal to or greater than the total purchase requirements indicated on the coupon(s) presented.
Now how is my order total going to be equal or greater thatn the total purchase when i have stacked everything that I bought. Its not! I wish they had been detailed about that policy.
Good point. Have you tried only handing the cashier the coupons for $/$$? I know it sounds kind of silly, but, if I don’t “bring out” all of my coupons until she is done then what can they do? Just a thought.
Employees are being trained that it is before all other coupons unless otherwise stated.
I would have to point out that the policy says “the order total,” not YOUR total. My Publix considers my total before coupons to be the order total. Now that the policy is printed and posted, you should take it to corporate if your store refuses to take such a coupon.
What store in Tallahassee do you go to? I go to the one on Ocala and Tennessee and I’ve never had this problem before.
Southwood and Forest Village (both of them). You think there is better? I am just trying to get the most bang for my moey and for the children school lunches?
I’ve shopped at the Ocala and Lake Ella stores and have never had a problem with them not taking a coupon- but if you’re usually shopping at Southwood or Forest Village, that’s a really long drive, I’m not so sure it would be worth the money off!
Loretta I work at the Southwood store and I can personally tell you that the cashiers are being trained that the $5/$30 etc applies to the total before other coupons are taken off. I did my training last night so it is fresh on the mind.
You shouldn’t have to make the drive all the way to the other side of town, that would be a waste of your gas
If you run across an issue where a cashier is telling you that you cannot use the coupons ALWAYS ask for a manager
Katie – Do you know if Ocala will take Harveys? I was in there about a month ago and they told me no. I thought that was funny considering they are right down the street.
I’ve been able to use coupons for Winn Dixie, Target, Family Dollar, and Earth Fare there- when I asked about a competitor policy, I was told that they will accept any grocery store (and obviously non-grocery store, too, since they’ve taken FD $/$$ coupons more than once). It depends on the cashier, though- if I have any coupons I’m not sure about, I ask at customer service and make sure that I make a note on my list of who I talked to.
They’re absolutely the most coupon-friendly Publix I’ve found in Tallahassee, though. I think it may be because they don’t get as many couponers because a lot of students don’t coupon? I would definitely try again, especially with this new policy.
I will – when I was there the last time, I spoke with a team lead that seemed to have no idea what he was talking about! Thanks!
I’m replying in this thread because hopefully all the Tallahassee People will read it. According to Oak Valley, the Tallahassee competitors are: World Market, Earth Fare, Winn Dixie and Harveys. Every store in Tallahassee will take those and Bradfordville will take Piggy Wiggly (because I guess there is one in Thomasville).
Why World Market and not Target, I have no idea but I can live with rules as long as they are universal across the board!
World Market is not a grocery store so that is why they are not considered a competitor, as far as Target I am not sure about why they don’t consider them a competitor. The only thing I can come up with is that I am not sure if the one on Appalachee is technically a supercenter Target or not, so that could be the reason.
I’m in Tallahassee and shop at Lake ella usually and have never had any problems. They always take my xx of xx first
Well I must travel to the Ocala Street Store on Saturday (s). I cant take all this foolishnish anymore. Thanks a bunch.
Kelly is right in saying that the cashiers are being trained that those are to apply to the amount of your purchase BEFORE coupons.
Where are you getting the $5 off $30 every week? I used to get them occasionally in the mail but haven’t seen any in a long time. Winn Dixie often spits out a $ off $$ coupon after so many purchases when you use your card.
RecycleBank has $3.00/30 coupons for Publix right now for only 30 points!. I’m in Florida and had to use a Georgia zipcode to get it.
I am wondering if the coupon specifies for GA stores? I just checked my recyclebank account, found PX $3/$30 for Atlanta GA area. Will it work here in FL?
They’re area-restricted, it won’t work if you’re not in that area.
Ya know, they could really sweeten this policy if there was a $5 off $30 coupon on the policy they hand out. I think that would soothe everyone quite a bit. Either way I LOVE Publix!! I can’t tell you how well they took care of us here in North Alabama during the tornado/power outage!! We will be forever in their debt and AWAYS in their stores!!
I love it! I know the news stations have been making a big deal out of the new policy but honestly it has been very frustrating that they haven’t previously had a store-wide policy. Leaving coupon policy up to individual managers was not very uniform. I love knowing the rules so I can play by them.
Beginner couponer here — having some problems understanding the BOGO at Publix and coupons. can I use a BOGO on the kens dressings from this past sundays paper with the BOGO deal at publix? would this make them free????
I don’t think the sizes match. The coupon is for 8 oz. The sale is for a bigger size. ALWAYS check sizes when reading a coupon/ comparing to sale.
It depends if your store does half off for BOGO, or true BOGO.
nope they come out to be 1.37 each and you get 1.37 off with each coupon so you are getting them for 1/2 of 1.37
I also have heard that Publix accepts it’s own store coupons within a few days of expiration. I would like clarification on that as well and if it applies to competitors coupons. I know it doesn’t apply to MQs.
My store does not accept expired coupons (PX or MF), but a couple stores 30 miles south of me accept expired PX Qs one year back, 2 weeks for MF
Mine says Competitors Q xx/xx for up to 2 weeks after expiration.
G27, I bought 4 of the “Enjoy Your City” books from a groupon deal recently. Spent $37 on them all. However, they have TONS of coupons in them that don’t expire until June 2012, and each one has (4) $5/30 Winn-Dixie Qs. Totally worth it
By the way, I just called my store (North Florida) and they accept most stores with food, not pharmacies, not BJ’s.
Those looking for Publix $ off coupons need to check in with the cub scouts/boy scouts in your area- here in Orlando, my son’s pack was selling $5 scout cards–they had discounts for McD’s and other places AND they had $5 off $50 purchase at Publix and didn’t expire until Dec. 2011–great deal for me.
As of today one of my publix stores say limit 5 bogo coupons another one says no doubling of bogo coupons.50 or less, so the whiskas coupons don’t double there or the fancy feast buy 3 get one free. bummer!
SWEET! I am going to check on the stacking the Publix X/XX stacking with a competitors! I was told a few weeks ago that they wouldn’t accept Winn Dixie’s because it required the use of a loyalty card and since Publix doesn’t have a loyalty card, it wasn’t valid.
I was disappointed this past week when I tried to use the $10 off gas when you purchase $25 and a $5/$50 Publix Q when checking out. I needed to have $75 to use both and didn’t have time to go find another $10 worth of groceries. Too many people in line behind me.
I sooooo HEART Publix!
Corporate office told me yesterday this is a trial thru the 23rd and if changes are made to policy it will be changed by the 23
It sounds to me like this means no more Register Rewards! That is the only part I do not like
Me, too.. Bummer!
I am going to say this, I work for publix and we have not released the new coupon policy and we are not even suppose to discuss it in the store due to crazy couponers like yourself, you people should really consider respecting the places that you shop instead of being physco and whoever you got this policy from should loose there job for letting it out to the public without permission!
First off, let’s get something straight… Majority of us couponers are not crazy. We’re couponing to save our families money, because some of us are going through hard times. Shame on you for assuming that all of us don’t respect Publix, when Publix is one of the best supermarkets in the state of Florida. So maybe you should look in the mirror and show some respect.
You spelled psycho wrong!
and spelled lose wrong
and “their” wrong…
and how exactly is it DISRESPECTFUL towards Publix for us “crazy couponers” to want to be aware of the policy so that we can make sure that we follow the rules set forth for us? Just because your store has requested that you not discuss the changes yet, this has been a topic of much discussion for weeks- at the stores, with customers, and even in the news!
Did you stop to think maybe some stores have released it already? I called my store earlier to ask about competitor’s and the person asked another CS rep “What is the list of competitor’s that go with the new coupon policy?” Now I didn’t mention anything about the policy to them. Also some people have seen it at their store.
Secondly, it’s a shame you work for Publix, if I knew your name, I’d report you for being disrespectful. You’ve represented yourself as a Publix employee and then gone on to badmouth the very people who pay for your job. Shame on you.
The stores started handing out the policy to customers today who use coupons at the checkout or if you asked.
Wow…get a lfe!!!
Oh wow….”cc” sounds exactly like a Publix cashier I have encountered on more than one unfortunate occasion! ; ) lol
The entire thing is on orlandosentinel.com. No big secret.
CC, you should know that it is us (the consumers) that spend our money in Publix (your employer) that allows you to earn a wage from Publix. If we didn’t shop there, you may not have a job.
Furthermore, I shop at several Publix’s, and I have been informed over a month ago several instances by several cashiers that the policy is changing, and I appreciate knowing about the change, so that I am not blindsided on my next shopping trip after the policy takes effect.
as far as the overage issues . I think its wrong that people expect to make money off of a item they are getting for free. Why cant you just be happy and grateful that you got a super cheap or free item. I think its apparent people get greedy and are never satisfied with what they have. I realize this comment will probably make everyone upset but I am not here to make friends .. Couponing is a priviledge these stores dont have to let us use coupons at all .What has ruined the couponing is the people coming in the stores emptying the shelfs and trying to make money off free items this coming from a store manager at my local publix its a shame that a few people have ruined it for peopel like me that are disabled and cant work so therefore rely upon the savings we get at publix.
why should the store make extra money on the item when we took the time to clip the coupon???? the store is being reimbursed for the whole face value of the manu q plus 8 cents. I personally like for the overage to go towards my other items and why wouldn’t you want that too? I only buy 4 papers a week and don’t clear shelves. I’m sorry you have had a bad experience but all couponers aren’t like that.
No offense, but being disabled is a nonissue. You have no idea what others are going through and why they need the savings just as much as you.
As for overage…if it’s over on a MQ, I think we should get it. The store gets the full value (plus .08 and some as high as .13), why shouldn’t we? Overage from comp Qs is a different issue.
Just as a heads up. In my past life, I worked in corporate marketing and even did a stint specifically in coupon management. While this new policy may hurt some people, please keep in mind that there are significantly more coupons available for a wider array of products than ever before. Companies see how popular (and in many case necessary) couponing has become and they have responded by finding many new ways to put coupons out there for people. Besides the newspaper inserts and websites, more and more companies are distributing savings through facebook, twitter, blog contest and promotions, special savings booklets available via mail or in stores, on or in packaging and through email newsletters or their own product websites. There are also several brands that will email them to you if you ask. So, while its become more difficult to use several coupon per item, there are more items with coupons available.
Here is Ft. Lauderdale the policy above it what it has been for years. Nothing really has changed down here. I just wish people wouldn’t clear the shelves. This has been happening since the show first aired. Its a race to get the sale before the shelves get cleared, the managers at certain stores have finally started limiting the quantities to 10 per person if it is on sale. Although I haven’t seen them get a manager for 10+ items. I will let you guys know how that goes down here.
Thanks for posting the new policy. I’m glad to see nothing has changed for me. It got me scared there for a second lol.
glad to see policy in writing. nothing has changed for me. it has always been this way in Alabama…
I’m in Alabama also, didn’t see much of a change either. Where are you at?
I am in AL as well. I’ve never even tried to use competitors coupons though because when I tried to ask some of the employees at my store who they considered competitors, and they couldn’t give me a straight answer. They almost seemed offended that I would even ask. I don’t know why. Anyway, I’m kind of glad now because since I didn’t get to use them, the new policy is no major shock to me!
When does this take effect?
Nevermind…found my answer….May 23rd
Hello
I just went to the Publix lovcated in Deerwood Village here in Jacksonville Fl and they gave me the coupon policy with the stores they will accept as competitors. Target no longer in their list as the Target by the store is not a super target.
Well here’s a wonderful Publix song in celebration of the new Publix coupon policy……
Just got home from my store in Boca Raton (Palmetto & Powerline)…The competitors listed on the new policy are:
Albertson’s
Doris
Target
The Fresh Market
Whole Foods
Winn-Dixie
I’m ok with this! Not much change for me!
I go to that store too! Glad to see this list – thanks!
Hi Andrea!!! Yes, what a relief! Especially Whole Foods and Target. I use those two the most! PS – I find that the customer service at our store is always top notch! Everyone is always so friendly! Galina (front end mgr) is super sweet and she welcome couponers!!!
Couldn’t agree with you more. I actually live in Coral Springs & travel to Boca Raton quite often. If it wasn’t on my way home I would still rather travel to shop at this location than any other. The manager actually pulled me aside & told me that he would personally ring me up from now on so I do not have any issues using my coupons. That’s what I call impeccable customer service. They are so accommodating, unlike anywhere I have ever shopped. I am happy to know a few other fellow couponers frequent this location
Have you ever tried the Publix on Brookside in Coral Springs? THE BEST!!
Thank You so much for posting this
This is my local Publix where I shop. As far as I knew they didn’t accept Target previously & according to this post now they do so thank you
Only Bravo, Sedano’s, Winn Dixie, or Save-A-Lot will be accepted as competitor coupons. If you have a BJ’s coupon it will still be taken, only if it says it’s a manufacturers coupon, which I believe all manufacturer coupons end in a 5 on there bar code numbering. Also, this starts on May 23.
I talked to our manager at our store today. They havent’ decided on which competitor coupons they are going to take at my store yet. She did say though in order to use the $5/$25 or $10/$50 etc coupons from either their store or a competitor that they are going to be taken off at the END of the order. This means after all other coupons so if after coupons you order doesn’t total $25 you can’t use the dollar off coupons. I don’t know how I feel about that at all. They get their money back on manufacturer coupons so either way they are making the money…we will have to see how this affects my shopping I guess. Other than that, I don’t see any big changes to the policy
OH…That will be sad if they won’t take them off until the end…I probably won’t be using those any more if that is the case!
Yeah I know…I was discussing that with my husband tonight. He is NOT thrilled with that at all. If I read our posting right from the publix employee at the st cloud store (which is where I am at) they are not going to take target, albertons or whole foods coupons anymore either which might change my shopping as well… My husband hates the publix near where he works in orlando but if they take the competitor coupons then he said he was going to shop there…I personally like the store near my house but we will see. I am out of work and every penny counts right now!
@ Melissa……..which St. Cloud store? I shop all 3 and am curious who the competitor’s will be also when the policy goes into effect? I’ve heard May 23 and June 1??
So I also wonder if any of the Kissimmee stores will take Target? BJ’s??
It’s worth it to drive to Target for some of their items if it can be stacked with a manufacturer coupon.
Thanks!
Jennifer,
I work at Publix and the policy goes into effect on May 23rd. Also each store has a slip (from corporate) that lists the competitors that the specific store will take. You should not have a problem getting this list from any Publix.
It isn’t so. The $/$$ coupons are used on your total purchase before coupons and before gift cards.
what?? that means the $5 off $30 is out for most couponers I use these all the time before I use mfg coupons…it cant be so…
That sucks! … because they get the face value of the coupons back from the manufacturer, so it is as if they are getting the total of the order before coupons… and, it seems to me, they should take that $5 off (for example) BEFORE other coupons.
That is the way they already do it in Thomasville GA, the $30 total must be after coupons. I have never felt like it is right. It makes me not want to shop there. It seems coupon unfriendly. When I have the $ off coupons, I usually go to a different Publix, even though I have to drive 30 miles to do so.
This is not true they will be taken off before your other coupons BUT you may only use up to 2, a publix and a competitior and the order total must equal the both combined amounts needed to be spent. Ex. you have a Publix for $5/$30 and a winn dixie for $5/$50 your total before coupons must be $80 and gift cards to not count towards your order total!
Thanx Publix Angel….that clears things up a bit….
Two weeks ago, my cashier informed me she had to take off my $x/$xx Q’s at the end. I asked her if that had changed because it had not been that way before. She stated nothing had changed, but she still took it off at the end. ??? I’m curious to see who my store considers a competitor!
Again all stores are being trained this week on this new policy and everyone will be ready with the correct answers come the 23rd. As of right now most of this is probably hear say!
This is incorrect information. The use of $5/$25 is based on your total BEFORE coupons are taken off. The policy will be posted on Publix.com
My list is for those in the St. Cloud area.
Oh wow..no more Target or Albertson’s…I guess I will be shopping in Kissimmee or Orlando!
What list? Did you post a list? I don’t see anything. I am in St Cloud.
I have a question. They say they will accept one manf. cpn on each bogo item. what if there is an overage? I had a hard time at my publix with the BIC deal and had to take a coupon away. thanks!
If it is a manufacture coupon Publix will accept it even if the coupon is more than the cost of the item. For example if you purchase a product for $1.50 and your coupon is for $2.00, Publix will accept these. It is in the new policy to take them.
Has anyone else ran into the problem that Publix is only allowing you to use 1 of each publix coupon, for instance, if I have the $2.00 off 1 John Frieda shampoo coupon out of the publix flyer I could only use 1 even if I was buying 5 of the same product. And no, that 1 publix coupon wouldnt take off for all of the items I was buying. This very thing happened to me last week. I was told only 1 publix coupon per household per item. If that makes sense..lol
We ran into this problem months ago and I ended up having to call the district manager. At least in the St Cloud stores that is NOT the case. It is ONE coupone PER item
Yes. I just told them I didn’t want the other products. Their loss! (Mine too, but I wasn’t going to pay full price for something I HAD A COUPON FOR!)
That sounds like a cashier or store manager who doesn’t know the difference between a “purchase” (as used in wording on a coupon) and a “transaction” (all items purchased). I’ve run into the problem and had to educate them.
Each item you buy is a “purchase”.
Most of these coupons limit one per PERSON
I did the same John Freida deal and I had a $3.00/2 from Target; and I used 2 of the $2.00 Publix coupons and then I used 2 $1.00 off manufacturer coupons and I had no problem. I knew the cashier though even though I don’t think that had anything to do with it. I go to the Lake Mary Publix. If anyone knows the competitors for this store that would be great.
From my understanding of the policy they will not take a competitor coupon and a Publix coupon for the same item. Am I misunderstanding?
Jane
Looks like you’re right.
“We will accept a manufacturer’s coupon and either a Publix or a competitor coupon on the same item.”
Sounds like they will only take 1 manufacturer’s coupon and 1 store coupon (Puplix or competitor) on the same item.
That is correct. Under the new policy you can use either a publix coupon or a competitior coupon (not both) as well as a manufacture coupon per item.
@ Christina, if you look at some of the Publix coupons they are printing now it states it on the coupon (one per household or 1 per transaction), which sucks but I guess the cashiers are being trained to look at the wording of each coupon…at least here in Ocala!
I ran into this same situation at Publix with the pet treats. There is a new Pet coupon book out which I bought 2 of the same item. I had 1 coupon for each item I was purchasing. The cashier read all of my coupons, and handed me back 1 of the coupons saying the coupon read, “Limit one deal per coupon per customer”.
I didn’t read it properly and thought it meant one coupon per item – my bad; however, have noticed several of the Publix (LU#) coupons are now printed with “Limit one deal per coupon per customer”.
I don’t see any changes to the policy. We’ll see when I find out if our competitors have changed or not.
Now, I didn’t know you could use a Publix $ off AND a competitor $ off in the same order…Don’t know if that is new or if I just didn’t know it. I would have never attempted to try that one…
Thanks for posting a pic of it!
I didn’t know about it either! That would be great!
I didn’t know this either. I knew you can’t use say an Albertson’s and a Winn Dixie coupon at the same time.
Hugs;o)
Jane
I actually was permitted to use the $5 off from Winn Dixie, Albertsons and Publix all in one transaction at the Publix in Plant City.
Our publix does not post the competitors, you must ask them for the list.
All stores will be required to post a poster of their competitors on the front doors. This policy has not taken into affect yet so that’s why you have to ask right now. All stores are being mailed a poster from CORPORATE about the competitors they take! So all for all of those who keep saying “just email corporate and they will change it”- actually NO THEY WON’T!
Thank you Michelle! I work for Publix and this has been a long time coming. There are so many complaints that the policy is not the same across the company and now that it will be there are still complaints, it’s crazy!
But yes like Michelle said each store is receiving a poster from corporate that will be posted
This sucks for me since there is not even a Target in my city, it’s in nearby Daytona Beach, so all 3 of the Publixs by me will no longer take their coupons
I think that instead of paying overage in cash, Publix should put it on a Pulbix gift card. That way the money stays within Publix.
our Publix pays cash if it is under $5 and giftcard for $5 and over.
Maybe we should have a page in the forum with the stores listed and what competitors they take. I think if we all contributed to that we could get a pretty accurate list which would be a big help to anyone just learning to coupon at Publix!!
Isn’t that what the “Store Info” tab is for?
I am so glad you posted this! My Publix store (well, ok, the cashier that I asked at the time) said they didn’t stack coupons because they accept competitor coupons instead. I actually just looked on the publix website last night for their coupon policy and couldn’t find it. I would like to print it out and take it with me on my next trip just in case. Can anyone tell me where to find this?
I have not been able to find a coupon policy on Publix’s website and I looked earlier when I saw this post.
Hugs;o)
Jane
Our Publix states that they can give me a print out of the policy if I swing by customer service. i had called them yesterday to inquire about their policy before coming in. I find as long as I am happy they are happy and I really don’t run into any problems when inquiring about their policies
That’s because the policy isn’t officially out. The employees of Publix were SPECIFICALLY told not to say anything until it becomes official on the 23rd.
The policy will be posted on the website on May 23rd when the policy goes into effect. And actually employees have been informed to start talking to customers and educating them on it beginning tomorrow the 14th.. I read the policy while I was work last night so it is fresh on the mind
For the first time ever tonight the cashier I had took my coupons from me right away and took off after each item. So my total would not make it to the dollars off – and it was Publix dollars off that I received in the mail. However she did take all of my Winn Dixie coupons, and there is not a Winn Dixie within 5 miles. I did still only spent 17.xx and saved almost 77. so I am very happy with that. Now, on the subject of overage – I am all for it, BUT I am not for you getting the money back into your pocket. Me personally, I try to get overages and will turn that around to eat up some of my higher dollar items that does not have great value coupons or no coupons at all. I work in St Pete and live in Dunedin FL, depending on my drive route I pass anywhere from 3 to 6 Publix’s. And I usually stop at them all as I do not like shelf clearing – even though I am buying for 3 families, contribute to a Church pantry, the SPCA and a Backpack program. With the new Policy I will just need to make sure which one takes what Store coupons
Michelle A, next time they ask for your coupons up front I would “politely” (sarcasm) ask the cashier: “If I were paying with cash, would you want my wallet up front so you can take the cash as you scan the item??”
)
For us couponers, coupons are our currency, it is the “money” we use to pay for our purchase, it is SO wrong for the cashiers to ask for them up front. I refuse to give them my coupons before it is time to pay for my items, I have a system and it works!!! so don’t mess with it
Actually the new policy states for the cashier to ask for the coupons before beginning the order, however they should be scanned after everything is rung up.
Also, on the 23rd any Publix store you shop at should have a poster that has been sent by corporate hanging up that lists the specific competitor coupons that they will accept.
I don’t know if anyone here is from Panama City, but we have at least 4 Publix’s, all with different coupon policies. The main one I go to has this policy (unless it has changed and I went there today and nothing was different).
They will accept one Publix coupon, one manufacturer’s coupon AND one competitor’s coupon PER ITEM. That means I can use 3 coupons per item and on a BOGO, that’s gold. I don’t have their list of competitors, but I know from experience they accept Winn-Dixie, Military Commissary and Target. We don’t have any other grocery stores and they SAY they don’t accept CVS or Walgreens, but if they scan, they accept them.
Wow. That’s like the total opposite of what they’ve told me!! LOL!! I hate, hate, hate the one in Lynn Haven. They change it daily, and the mgrs there are VERY rude! The other Publix are pretty lenient, but they’ve only allowed me to use 2 coupons max per item (1 manu, 1 competitor/publix). They will not allow me to use a BOGO q on a BOGO sale. They have told me they can’t GIVE you 2 items for free, you HAVE to pay for one! . I have always been able to use Target, Winn Dixie, Walgreens, and CVS coupons, though. So, I don’t know! Which one do you usually shop at??
Hey ladies I’m from panama city, I agreee the “policy” seems to change daily, lol. I have had the same experience as Melissa B. The location on Beach will let you use a BOGO coupon with a BOGO sale.
In my area, you can use a Publix or local competitor’s coupon along with a manufacturer coupon per item, not a third coupon.
I would like to know which Publix you use. I also use the one on the beach and at the Y, which are the best, 23rd st. is next and Lynn Haven (what can I say)I dred even stepping foot in there, to say they are wishy-washy and rude is putting it mildly.
My favorite is the one on 23rd street!
I’m glad to see the posts on PC. I have had one conflicting story after another on our local competitors and the policy on stacking. They have never let me use 3 even after I asked a friend of mine who was a Publix manager first. I am .5 miles from the Lynn Haven store and have used that b/c I heard they were so coupon friendly but lately it seems like they look for something to “catch”. LH is often wiped out of the sale items when I go too. maybe I go at the wrong time. A good friend of mine uses WIC and said they made her feel like a complete criminal at that location even though she really needs the help. All these make me think I need to change.
After seeing the comments here I’m thinking of switching to 23rd street instead. What’s the best time to go to find things stocked there? BTW – I have used Breakfast point and they were very nice but seemed confused about my Dollar General Qs even after the manager said it was ok. They were the kindest though.
I shop exclusively at the LH store and they have always been very gracious. There are a couple of cashiers that will point out coupons if I’ve missed something. With regards to using a BOGO coupon on a BOGO sale item, I have always had to purchase 2 sets (for a total of 4 items) and I can use the coupon. I end up paying for 1 item and getting 3 free. That works for me! Nothing else with the new policy seems to be new for the LH store. The shelves are not always stocked with the great sale items, but then again, neither are CVS or Walgreens when I go there.
NO YOU CANNOT use all 3 coupons!!! PLEASE stop posting that you can because customers will say that they read it on here and we should do it. NO it is not the policy and whoever is doing it for you is BREAKING the rules.
I work for Publix, and the reason this “new” policy is coming out is because there has been confusion between stores. Recently there has not been a policy so stores have been taking any and all coupons. Starting May 23 this new policy is for all Publix stores. As it says each store has there own set competitors based on the stores near them and each store has the right to set limits on coupons. In my opinion people have gone crazy with coupons anyway and are VERY rude at checkout if things do not go there way. Overage isn’t allowed at many stores but since the policy was getting approved this was happening. So, if you’re coupons equal more than the product amount buy something you actually need and use the money for that….
I sooo totally agree with you!!
Angela,
Being able to use 3 coupons on an item will change when the new policy goes into effect on the 23rd. And Publix will no longer be accepting drug store coupons unless it is one with a pharmacy and the coupons will have to be for medicine purchased at the pharmacy.
All Publix’s will be under the new policy, the only thing that will be different between them will be the competitor coupons that they take. Each store has a specific list from corporate.
The Publix store on 23rd Street in Panama City listed their competitor stores today. They handed me a slip of paper. They will only accept coupons from Winn Dixie and Save a Lot. No Target! Grrrrr!!! I have noticed that our Publix in Panama City has much higher prices than my sister in law’s stores in Tallahassee. If we’re unable to use Target coupons, then I may have to start shopping elsewhere. I am so sad! I thought for sure they’d still accept Target since it’s less than a mile down the road! I’m dying to know what the Lynn Haven store will list as their competitors!
Lol all this hype and it doesn’t look like it’s going to change a single thing for me!!
Thank you so much for sharing this with us!
I still see alot of confusion about this policy…can you use a $5 off $30 publix and competior coupon on the same $30 total for $10 off or do you have to spend $60 as I was told last year by a Publix CSA? And if they are going to apply the $5 off $30 AFTER manf coupons, that will change the wasy I shop…they certainly dont want to dirve their customers to the competitor especially with walmarts new policy…
If you have say two dollars off coupons, say one for $5 off 25 from Publix, and one for $5 off 30 from somewhere else, your groceries must total $55. It’s not that hard. This is the total before coupons at our Publix in GA.
To use those coupons it will be based on your total BEFORE any coupons are taken off.
Im still new to Publix. If I have a free product coupon and there is a BOGO deal. Do I get them both for free with this new policy?
Depends if you are in a true BOGO area (yes) or 1/2 price BOGO area (no).
Thank you!. Im in Duluth,GA.
I’m near the Duluth and the Publix on 20 and Old P’tree is a true BOGO store.
Yes you can still get them both for free under the new policy if it is a true BOGO store.
The devil is in the details. My closest Publix in Inverness, FL has had this same policy for years but one of the Asst Managers started refusing to allow anyone to stack a manufacturer’s coupon with a Publix coupon. After the third time she denied my stacked coupons I just quit going there and started shopping more at Winn Dixie and Walmart. The next closest Publix is about 10 miles away so I only go there maybe once a month for the really good deals. I emailed Corporate about this and they replied that I would be receiving a call from the Regional Mgr. No call received so that store will never get my business again.
I’m debating driving to New Port Richie or Ocala to shop at this point.
I’m ok with the new policy. I don’t see that it will dramatically change the way I do it already. Additionally, it is still better than anyone elses policy in my area. WD is a nightmare for me.
The new policy does not say if they are going to continue doubling coupons. Does anyone have any info. on this.
If they previously doubled they will continue.
The only divison that doubles is GA any Fl stores will not!
I am in Alabama. My store doubles.
Only in the Atlanta district though. The southern Alabama stores do no double
The only area in the policy that it talked about doubling coupons was in Georgia and they will continue to do so. You will have to speak with your store directly to find out.
In my area it seems like there is a Publix every 100 feet and they are all different! I was told by the store on Conroy/Windermere that they no longer accept Target c/os. Asked at the Dr. Phillips store on Sand Lake and was told, “Yes, we accept Target c/os still.” None of my local stores have accepted Walgreens c/os.
I emailed corporate a few weeks ago regarding the Target coupons at the Isleworth Publix on Apopka Vineland. I got a call from the store manager a week later and they said they would accept them. I still go in there and have cashiers tell me no. Then I tell them about the store manager calling me and then they take it. Wish they would tell the cashiers!
Beginning May 23rd each store will have a specific list of competitors they will accept that is designated by the corporate offices. A poster will be hanging at all Publix’s starting that day.

I read on other sites. That they will now limit the Publix yellow and green advantage coupons to “1 per person”. So even if you buy multiple of the same item, you can use more than one coupon.
That is the only thing that I would be concerned with.
I hope that is not the case because that is NOT how the coupon reads. Our district manager and I had a very long discussion about this. I am not happy about the competitor coupon changes at my store but that isn’t a big enough problem for me to drive someplace else..if they start limiting it to only one of their own coupons I wont be shopping at Publix anymore
It’s only limited to 1 per person if the coupon specifically states 1 PER PERSON
I work for Publix in Northport, FL. The new policy does not start yet. The meeting will be held for personel this coming friday, and saturday. We can receive a copy of the policy then.
That would be great as that is the store that I shop at!
“We will accept coupons from competing pharmacies for prescriptions only.”
Does this mean they will no longer accept Walgreens Q’s for non-prescription purchases?
Yes that is exactly what the means!
This I don’t understand because the coupons in the walgreens booklet scan at publix so I don’t see why they wouldn’t still except these
Then it’s a manufacturer coupon, not a Walgreens coupon and you may be OK.
Just because our registers scans them does not mean it is a manufacturer coupon. If they do not state manufacturer on them they are not and we can not send them in to get reimburshed!
I live in Helena, AL. I frequent the stores on HWY 150(Hoover), McCalla, and Helena
I called this morning and got their list of competitors
HWY 150- Bruno’s, Piggly Wiggly, Target, and Winn Dixie
McCalla- Piggly Wiggly, Target, Winn-Dixie
Helena- do not have list yet will be available 5/14
The one in McCalla used to take sav a lot coupons but they do not anymore
The policy seems fair, but I am concerned about not being able to use more than one adv flyer q in one transaction.
The Valrico FL, Lithia Pinecrest store has not changed.
Still Target, Winn Dixie, Albertsons, and Sweet Bay. I have used Whole Foods with no problems as well, but I forgot to ask about that one, but I figured they would still work since this store has a very large greenwise area.
Summerville area SC:
Ashley Phosphate/Dorchester Rd competitors are: BiLo, Food Lion, Harris Teeter, Piggly Wiggly, Walmart and the Commissary
Trolly Rd: list will be available 5/14, effective 5/23
The part of the policy that really affects me is “we reserve the right to limit quantities” – the three closest Publix in Warner Robins (Hwy 96, Perry & new one on Watson) all told me yesterday that they are limiting to 4 like coupons (manufacturer or competitor) and only 1 of their flyer coupons. This will drastically affect how much I buy at one time. I will have to start splitting my trips. They also told me that I can’t check out and then come back immediately and use more coupons. That sucks! Ps I do not clear shelves…
Hey! I am in Warner Robins as well. Do you know which stores accept which competitor?
I cannot beleive that they told you that you can’t come back immediately and use more coupons. I would call corporate to verify that, because that would seem a bit much for them to control. My husband and I go together, both use coupons and check out at seperate checkout lines, this does help with the number of times we have to shop, but If they told me I could not come back in and shop again, I would tell them, Winn Dixie or Sweetbay are too close for me to deal with Publix.
The flyer has usually said that lately if you read the fine print. Also if you have gotten a raincheck recently, you will notice they limit the amount per raincheck to 10 items. You have to understand that the people that are out there clearing the shelves ruin it for those of us that don’t. I work at Publix and haven’t been able to get the BIC’s since they were on sale because of that fact.
Altamonte Springs, FL (central Florida area)
Jamestown Publix (Intersection of Jamestown Blvd and SR 434 in Jamestown Plaza)
I called just a minute ago and they accept:
Albertson’s
Wynn Dixie
Target
Whole Foods
Fresh Market
Makes it even better for me, because I didn’t know they would accept Whole Foods considering they’re further than 5 miles away. WOOT!
Wow… any chance you know if the Publix at 434 and Montgomery road (did I spell that right) is going to have the same list Considering they are like 2 minutes away from each other???
Why do publix care they get reimbursed anyways for coupons????
we only get reimbursed for manufacturers coupons! We lose money to all the competitior ones!
TO THE PUBLIX EMPLOYEE: DOES PUBLIX NOT GET REIMBURSED 4 CENTS FOR EVERY MANUFACTURE COUPON ON TOP OF THE FULL PRICE FOR THA ITEM? SO THEY GETTING PAID TO EXCEPT THE COUPONS? IT IS MY OPINION THAT THE CONSUMERS WILL MAKE A CHOICE IN STORES BASED ON THE AMOUNT OF MONEY THAT THEY CAN SAVE. THAT IS WHY I SHOP AT PUBLIX, IT SAVES ME MONEY AND IF THE POLICY CHANGES AFFECT THAT THEN I WILL SHOP SOMEWHERE ELSE. I WILL HAVE TO DO SOME RESEARCH AND TRIAL AND ERROR. BUT IN THE LONG RUN, ESPECIALLY THIS DAY AND AGE, PEOPLE NEED TO SAVE MONEY AND PUBLIX MADE THAT VERY EASY BY EXCEPTING MOST COMPETITOR COUPONS. ALSO, IF THEY ARE GOING TO LIMIT THE DEAL THAT WE CAN GET, THAT WILL BE A BIG DECISION BREAKER FOR ME. BTW TYPING WITH AN EXPLANATION POINT AT THE END OF EACH STATEMENT IS ANNOYING. Kind of like typing in all CAPS!!!
Publix gets paid the value of the coupon + an .08 cent processing fee. We aren’t getting paid to take coupons, we’re getting paid a processing fee because WE have to pay to ship the coupons off to be sorted.
The processing fee is to help compensate the stores and clearing houses for the payroll, overhead, postage and other costs that it actually takes to process the coupon. The store does not actually make additional money on top of being reimbursed, and processing is costing more and more as postage and gas costs rise. It is even possible that it takes more than the $.04-.08 to process the coupon, in which then the store is losing money.
Are you two? This is the most immature post I’ve ever read.
I have to disagree with you there (publix employee)…you guys are actually making more money since most of the people, including myself, who started using coupons in the middle of last year now only shop at publix. I spend at least 500 dollars a month (I shop for a BIG family) at publix that I used to give to Walmart or Winn Dixie. The coupon friendliness was the reason I started going just to Publix. I do know that there are people out there who abused the “friendliness” of publix and that is why there is an official policy but I do not really think publix has lost out on that much money or any money at all because of competitor coupons. I would have to see the numbers to believe that.
The reason that they are specifying competitors now IS because of the people who abused it. I’ve worked at Publix for 10+ years and I am so glad that we finally have something in writing. The policy is not really changing anyway; it’s just now official and in writing. We have had people (I work in the Bradenton/Sarasota, FL area) that have tried to use Rite Aid and Food Lion coupons when there isn’t one anywhere close to our area. How fair is that really? You can’t go there to use it so why should we take it? And stores should have never been accepting Walgreen’s/CVS/BJ’s coupons for anything other than pharmacy anyway because they are not SUPERMARKET competitors. That has always been the rule. Publix employees are bred to just make the customer happy no matter what which isn’t a bad thing but it does allow people to take advantage.
Also, store don’t necessarly “lose” money on competitor coupons; it’s kinda written into our cost of doing business. But it does impact the bottom line, which in turn impacts prices at stores and bonus profits for the people that work there (depending on your work status, there are quarterly inventory bonuses). Some of us depend on that bonus (like myself and my husband-who also works at Publix-we live paycheck to paycheck). So before you all get bent out of shape about this, think about those of us that work in the stores.
I couldn’t have said it better Jessica, THANK YOU!
anyone shop @ publix in Polk County? if so let me know what competitors they accept, thanks
I heard too, they will only accept 1 Publix q exactly what it states, 1 q per customer. I think that stinks… That is going to make a Big difference…Ughhh
A Publix cashier told me today that starting on Saturday, May 14, they will only accept 6 manufacturer coupons for the same item per transaction. I live in TN, so I don’t know if this is a statewide policy or a corporate policy.
It has always been that way in Spring Hill, TN:)
The coupon policy does not go into affect until May 23rd. And no where in it does it limit the amount of same items per transaction. It only states one manufacture and one publix OR competitor coupon per item.
the 2 publix closest to my house will no longer accept tgt Qs. ugh! in fact the publix nearest to my house is in a neighborhood so it is only accepting kroger and ingles which dont really even have coupons so I wont be shopping at that one at all!!
so I have to go extra out of my way to the one near the supertgt to use the tgt qs… what a pain when the publix near me always have accepted the tgt qs and now they all arent going to. and the mgr at the store near me told me that anyone with more than 10 coupons would have to have a mgr check them out, what a pain. I always have more than 10 qs, even on a quick trip in. they will rethink that one quickly…
Corporate has been discussing a coupon policy for the entire corporation for over a year now. I have a feeling this will not change anytime soon.
I just found out that our Publix store at Paradise Pointe at Lake Dow, GA., no longer accepts Target coupons but they will take Krogers and Ingles. Does anyone know if Ingles give out coupons? I’m not too happy about the news, all those Target coupons I printed are down the drain, unless I take a trip to Target.
It is still ok to use Target coupons until they tell you it is time. I also heard that we need to share with the store manager what our concerns are. He is a wonderful manager and will listen to his customers.
Also check the Publix on 20 or on 155 also in McDonough might take them as Target is closer to them.
You are right Sherri, He is a GREAT manager and so is the lady that is over the customer service desk. I would name names but I don’t have their permission.
I think if there’s a policy then it should be for alllllll states and allllll stores. You can’t have one store take target coupons and the next not. Set a list for every store to follow cause there are some jerks that don’t want to take any coupons at their store and one 10miles down the road that will take anything from any store. Not a fair policy if you ask me.
It makes no sense for a Publix to take a Target store if there is not a Target near them…. so it shouldn’t be the same for every store
Its pretty standard for Publix’s to only take competitors within 5 miles, and full service stores (ones with bakery, meat counters, etc)
Does anyone know if the Publix in Land O Lakes on Collier will still accept Target ( ours is a super Target)? I was hoping to get my list and coupons together before I went shopping. I will miss the savings if they no longer take Target! We only have Winn Dixie and Sweetbay near by and they rarely have coupons that I can use at Publix.
thanks,
Tinap
It’s within 5 miles so I’m just guessing but I think they will still take Target.
You will be able to find out from the store what competitors they are going to take beginning tomorrow if you ask them. The policy goes in to effect on the 23rd so you will be able to use whatever coupons they allowed before until then.
My Publix in Orange Park (Jax), FL told me that the ‘competitor store’ had to be within 5 miles driving distance…that takes about oh, everything!
My Publix has been asking for all coupons up front. They have then been scanning them as soon as they scan the item. The positive to this is that I can see on the receipt which items coupons were used for etc.. but this does present a problem for trying to use the “$5/$30″ type coupons. Are the cashiers being instructed to do it this way now? Can I refuse and ask them to do it all at the end? I’m just not sure how to handle it. I want to be a polite couponer but when I have those type of coupons I’d like to be able to use them.
BTW, it also seems to take MUCH longer when they do it this way, not to mention that they spread the coupons all over to be able to see them all at once and I know they could easily get dropped/lost etc.
Cashiers have been instructed to ask for them at the beginning, but were not told to scan them as they go through the order.
One PUBLIX dollars-off-total-order and one COMPETITOR dollars-off-total-order can be used, but the terms of EACH coupon must be met. For instance, if you have a Publix Q for $5 off of a $25 order and a Winne Dixie coupon (given your store accepts Winne Dixie as a competitor) for $10 off of a $30 order, you must spend a combined total of $55. This does not mean that if you spend $110 that you can use two of each coupon. ONE per transaction.
We will accept ONE Manufacturer and ONE Publix or Competitor coupon PER ITEM. At no time should there be three coupons per item.
We will be following the TERMS of each coupon. If it’s one per transaction, then it’s one per transaction. If it’s two offers per household, then it’s two deals per household.
We will no longer accept the advertised specials that look like coupons from competitors. For instance, if you see an advertised price in an ad-flyer for $2.50 Edy’s Ice Cream with dotted lines around it, we will not reduce the price as a coupon. We will only accept standard cents or dollar(s)-off amounts, not set pricing amounts (even if it says coupon). The competitor coupons for Buy One (meat) get TWO Free is not an actual coupon, it’s an advertised price in the ad-flyer.
Valid Internet coupon means no COPIES. Each Internet coupon should have it’s own unique serial number.
If you follow all the rules of the policy and you have an overage, THAT’S OK!
I think the most important thing to remember is that we lose money on all competitor coupons and copied Internet coupons, so that’s where you are going to see a lot of ‘crack-down.’ And we we talk about reserving quantity amounts, it’s primarily for those who empty the shelf and leave no product for other customers to buy. It’s not that we don’t want to fill the shelf — there may be no additional back stock. It’s that we want all customers to take advantage of the sale
Any questions, feel free to ask.. I think I have all your answers!
**And when we talk about reserving quantity amounts…
Cashiers will ask for all of the customer’s coupons up front at the beginning of the order. The dollars-off-total-order criteria is met by the net amount of the products rung up BEFORE coupons, not after coupons. For instance, if you have a $5 off of a $25 order and your total (before coupons) is $26, and then you use $10 worth of coupons (bringing your total to $16), you are still allowed to use your $5 off of a $25 order. This seems to be a question that is coming up a LOT!
@Publix Manager… which store do you work at… I like you already, you know the policy…some managers need to take some lessons from you! Not being mean but some of them are not friendly at all and even if they are wrong they will not admit it.
Thanks @Aleida. I work in the Central Florida-area. Also, all clarification from the policy is being populated by a corporate team and no other standard support systems we would regularly go to — this is to ensure all information is STREAMLINED and CONSISTENT throughout the ENTIRE company.
Managers are able to submit coupon feedback for clarification. At this time, I can confirm that under no circumstance can a customer use any type of BJ’s Wholesale Club coupon, regardless of the coupon reading “manufacturer coupon.” BJ’s coupons often read “Manufacturer In-Club Coupon.”
Another question I have is If not stated on the ‘dollars-off-order’ coupon, must the coupon meet the requirement PRE- or POST-tax.
If you have anything that needs clarifying and I can’t answer, I would love to submit it for further explanation.
Another question populated on our FAQs released today was in regards to the dollars-off-total-order coupons. These orders must meet the requirements (without gift cards) BEFORE any other coupon deductions have occurred. BUT, if a dollar-off-total-order coupon has SPECIFIC TERMS, such as the amount must be met after all coupons/discounts have been applied and exclude alcohol and tobacco, stamps, etc… we MUST follow those terms. The biggest thing with this policy is that we follow the TERMS of all the coupons. This will allow us to stay consistent across the board. Thought that would be useful for some of you
Not trying to be rude and I certainly appreciate the information you’ve provided, BUT I don’t think it is right for cashiers to ask us for our coupons up front, those coupons are my “currency” and it is almost like asking me to give you my wallet, don’t you think?? Coupons are most of the times made of very thin paper, or very small and could easily be misplaced, could “fly away”, slip thru the cracks, etc., etc. Also, I haven’t seen anything in the “Policy” stating such handling of the coupons. Again, thank you for the information.
@ellie It’s not in the policy that cashiers are to ask for coupons up front. It’s simply in our training that we’re doing with them. It’s also used as a tool for customers who don’t regularly use coupons and may forget to give them to the cashier — a simple reminder. I understand your perspective, it just makes it a lot easier for all of us if we can scan product and compare coupons at the same time verus jogging our memory at the end of a lengthy transaction. Understand your perspective though.
My response to this is if they take our coupons at the beginning and scan them as they go, how do they KNOW what the PRE-COUPON total is? The total showing will be post coupon. Seems like much more of a hassel to have to recalculate everything at the end.
I spoke with my local publix today with the Albertsons ad in hand. My store says they will accept the buy 1 get 2 free as it is a coupon(as long as they have the same item no angus beef because publix beef is not angus for example)They will also accept the 2.89 for the helmans may and the 1.79 for the capri sun. So I don’t really understand because I thought the new policy was so that all Publix store would be uniform with the policy. New policy just seem to lead to more questions and having to split my order to use 2 $10.00 off $50.00 coupons is just more of a hassel for the cashier and the other customers in line behind me. I have no problem splitting my order so that I can maximize my savings if thats what it takes to feed my family of six.
THANK YOU! Where can we find the FAQs/responses that were published? Perhaps they will be published on the Publix.com site on Monday…
As I was checking out today at my store. The cashier handed me the new policy…I shocked her when I told her that I had seen it online last night and she said – really? that was fast!! But I took it anyway…till they put it up online so we can print it – sometime in June. The comp’s are: Target, winn dixie and sweetbay…that was very cool!! thanks.
My local news preview for the 11:00 news just said Publix may stop accepting coupons and something about a lot of restrictins. If all that happens is the above policy then I don’t think I’ll be affected. I usually never do more than 2 or 3 same item bogo, i never come close to clearing shelves, FL doesn’t double so that that prevents from getting many freebies already, I’ve not ever once used a comp. coupon- thought about it and maybe I will but unlikely to do it on a regular basis. I’m not surprised at stores reducing there acceptable coupon usage- like Kmart super doubles- they started out the only limit being $2 or less coupons would double, last time I saw one (long long ago) you were limited on the coupons that would double (10 maybe?) and you had to spend a min. That stunk. I really only shop publix for there BOGO and random awesome sale because in general there regular prices are almost always higher than my walmart.
The competitors for the FISHHAWK Blvd store in Lithia are : Target, Winn Dixie, Albertsons, SweetBay, GFS, and Sav A Lot.
Does anyone know how the Green and Yellow flyers will be interpretted now?
This post is a repeat of a post spurred from this week’s ad:
Moral of the story is, keep couponing, but PLEASE be cautious, you may harm more people than you know.
We all make mistakes, but when you do, the cashiers can get in trouble for taking incorrect coupons, even put on corrective action, and I know that no one here wants to get their cashier in trouble or fired. Also note that once a cashier is stung by an experience like that, the cashier, manager, and everyone else, starts to watch you like a hawk and give you trouble next time. As an HR manager, I know this is why many cashiers despise couponers!
The huge losses that Publix and other companies have taken due to improper coupon use is the direct reason why Publix has to redefine their coupon policy, and update their software. Clearinghouses that process all of the manufacturers coupons that we redeem are responsible for checking to ensure that the coupon used matches up correctly to the item purchased. When they do not match, the store does not get reimbursed, and the store suffers a loss. When the store loses money, they have to compensate somehow, either by decreasing costs (lost jobs or hours) or increasing prices (the price we pay, which I’ve seen many people mention how they’ve seen the prices jumping up a lot lately). When they do match, the store does get reimbursed, and everyone is happy.
I am sure that myself and many other people who have been couponing for years have noticed a HUGE influx of new couponers lately (thanks to the EXTREME COUPONING show on TLC). My word of advice to everyone is that everything is best in moderation, and I suggest still couponing, but keeping it under the radar. There is a reason why the Extreme Couponing show is always has Hoarders shown before and after.
EVERYTHING IS BEST IN MODERATION!
P.S. I still save 50-70% off my bill every week, but I normally purchase only 1 cart worth of goods at a time.
Plant City Publix on Thonotosassa Rd – Rude cashier tonight. My husband and I went shopping, to purchase the 10 for $10 fuze with 5 free (also used manufacturer coupon saving $1 of each 2, along with a couple of the other good deals. we shop together but use two carts for two transactions in seperate check outlines. We limit our shopping to two transactions and do not clear the shelves. I had a balance of $170+ and spent $64.83 after coupons, so had a successful trip. After paying, the cashier stated “because of people like you, Publix is changing their coupon policy”. Now I only used manufacturer and publix coupons, not even 1 competitors coupon. I used some buy one get one free coupons for razors, protein bars, gum. But really, she gave me attitude. Checkout only took like 10 mins, I don’t get it. Honestly, Publix has higher prices and yet I have been loyal because the stores are cleaner, and we don’t have to deal with certian types of people, but I am starting to think that Winn Dixie or Sweetbay might start getting my $$.
That was rude! You should have taken her name and spoken to a manager…I use coupons and have been since June of last year (before extreme couponing) and some cashiers swear they own publix and most of them do not even know what they are talking about. It is frustrating when cashiers THINK they know what they are talking about and in reality they do not but they argue with you anyways. I used my coupons last week at Publix and one of the cashiers that was helping the other cashier bag my groceries looked at me and said, “we are coming out with a new policy and you won’t be able to do that anymore” and I responded that I will be able to do exactly what I did because I only used their store coupons and manufacturer coupons and she just stared at me like I was from outer space! Hopefully they train the cashiers well.
What’s horrible is when the cashier DOES know what they’re talking about and customers like you think you know everything, when in reality you don’t. Yeah, there may be some bad eggs like this rude cashier, but not ALL cashiers are dumb.
PS The cashier that “swears they own Publix” probably does own Publix. The majority of employees there own some sort of stock in the company.
I’ve had the same experience at that Publix and at the other one on Jim Redman. People really take it personal like we are stealing from the store or something. I hope that each cashier and manager truly understands the policy and works with the customers. Otherwise I will move on to another store as well.
Yes that was rude and you should have reported that cashier to their manager. As a cashier myself I would have never said that, maybe thought it, but not if you correctly did it. The reason cashiers dislike couponers is because A LOT of them do try to work cashiers over, and when they come in groups into the stores it slows down the lines and makes it harder on us to keep the lines down to make sure we aren’t making other customers wait. I have gotten several of the coupon queens that have given me coupons they know don’t work, but want to try it on me. There are some cashiers that don’t care and would take it, but they don’t follow the rules and then the couponer is mad that I follow the rules and don’t want to get in trouble. I’m all for couponing as long as it’s done correctly. My mom does it, and I would do it too if I had to shop. I would say, to avoid any confusion, to attach place your coupons with all your coupon items that way we see it as we ring it up, that way you won’t have to wait as we look to make sure you get it. It’s not that we don’t believe you didn’t get the item, it’s just that we are required to make sure you did. The new policy, however, is requiring us all to ask for your coupons in advance. Also, giftcards will have to be paid for in full because they aren’t a purchase, it’s a transfer of money. So if you plan on having a giftcard for $50 to make sure your total isn’t in the negatives you will have to at least pay $50 as your total.
So, I have seen on other sites, that they emailed corp. in regards to the Yellow and Green advantage coupons.
Looks like the wording means that you only use one coupon per item…and not per transaction. Which is great news! If they put a limit on this, I think 4 is a good limit per person. This was the only thing in the new policy that would affect my shopping.
I totaly agree, I have only been allowed 1, 4 would be bliss. Now lets get through the next 2 mo. with no meltdowns and get on with the shopping!
So apparently the Narcoossee Publix is trying to “ween customers off coupons” until the actual date. They tried to stop someone I know from using the albertsons B1G2 chicken deal. That store really likes to have their own policy. The date isn’t until May 23 and they seem to think they can do it earlier, they are sadly mistaken.
Well that was weird, I just called my Publix to ask what manufacture coupons they accept, and the manager said he can’t give out any information at this time over the phone, and that they will be handing out a new policy on Saturday. I said “okay, well I was gonna come in tonight, just wanted to make sure you still accepted Target?” and he said “Saturday. I can’t say right now.” WOW. What is that??
I mean competitor! Not manufacturer.
Haha… They told us not to release any information until the 14th, but then also sent us an email a couple days ago that told us the media is aware of the policy and that we should expect inquiries from customers. They didn’t really say what we could and couldn’t talk about. I don’t think it’s a big deal.. just gives you a head start
A head start on what? I just wanted to know if they accept Target coupons tonight since I’m going shopping and have a couple Morningstar Farms coupons to use, and he couldn’t even tell me that.
Publix will lose business – in fact, significant business because consumers like me will be shopping elsewhere for deals. Superwalmart and Target will be getting my business going forward. I don’t have to go to Publix to get my oreos. Let’s face it…Publix is expensive. The only way I could afford shopping there was because of the competitor coupons and the BOGOs. The Hunter’s Creek Publix has identified Sedanos and Target as competitors. What a joke. Sedanos never has coupons! This new so called policy change is being mentioned all over the news. I can tell you that most of the people submitting comments are NOT happy campers. Publix said they wanted a consistent across the board policy. Not true. Each Publix still has the discretion of identifying who they are their competitors. BJ’s and Costco are no longer considered competitors. Well guess what Publix…they are competitors. BJs accepts manu coupons (you can use more than one on one package). Both BJs and Costco have deli, meat, bakery, etc. Therefore, they should be considered competitors.
Correct me if I am wrong but Costco does not accept Manf coupons. They only accept their own coupons.
Bye, Boo! When Publix requires a MEMBERSHIP and sells their items in BULK, I will consider them a competitor. Until then, I hope that Super Wal-Mart and Target consider BJ’s and Costco to be competitors!
OK, I have truly had enough of some of you idiots. I work at Publix, and you know what? Half of you guys have no idea what the heck you are talking about. For the ethical, honest couponers, thank you. Thank you for being honest about what you do and for being nice to us cashiers. I have some points for you morons who have no clue as to the real nature of coupons.
1. BJ’s has never and WILL NEVER be a competitor. It is a wholesale club, not a grocery store. So for all you selfish people that come in to buy a $1 pack of gum with a $3 coupon, you tell me how that is ethical. I call that stealing.
2. Publix SHOULD care about being reimbursed for coupons because that is money out of our pockets, MY POCKET, whenever you come in and use competitor coupons. We do not get competitor’s coupon’s worth back. So for the idiot who said “Why should Publix care?” umm…it’s coming out of our paychecks, sweetheart.
3. Stop posting what your store does unless you give the full location of where it is. Florida has not doubled in many years, and when you all come on and say that, I then have to deal with the people who now think that’s ok.
4. Whoever leaked this picture and information in the first place should lose their job. We were not allowed to even speak about this policy until Saturday, yet hours after I get trained on it it’s suddenly on the internet?
5. Cashiers should be instructed to ask for coupons ahead of time in order to match up everything with each item you are purchasing. We do this because there are dishonest people who come to shop, hand us coupons for things they did not buy, and expect us to take them. No, sir. You give them to us up front and we will scan them after every item. People are also known to get something for free, return it the next day, and get their money back for it because it wasn’t shown how much they actually paid for it on their receipt when all of the coupons are at the end. For those who are annoyed by this, you have the dishonest thieves to thank for it.
So in conclusion, I want you all to know I am tired of being yelled at, disrespected, and treated like an idiot during your transactions. For those who have never treated a cashier badly over $.50, God bless you. For the rest of you, go shop at Wal-Mart, they miss you.
Great post! I completely agree with you.
I agree! Too many people were just using coupons and being scammers wanting Publix to take coupons they shouldnt take. Wake up people.
Great post and I agreed completely.
Hear hear!
As an honest couponer, I’m tired of having cashiers wince when they see my stack of coupons. Publix has been nothing more than over-accommodating and I have appreciated them every time I go to shop there. Couponing has saved me SO much money even without competitor coupons; to be able to use those has been an absolute blessing.
When it comes down to it, what I see here hasn’t really changed much from the coupon policy as I understood it at our local stores. Three different stores would have three different things to say about who is and isn’t a competitor- one store considered Walgreens and CVS to be competitors because one shared the parking lot with them and the other was right across the street. The second Publix store was hit-or-miss, depended on who you spoke to (CS reps would usually take them but newbie cashiers generally would just turn them down- I always ASKED, never demanded!) and the third just flat-out did not accept either of those as competitors.
So really, it seems as though nothing is changing with the way our local stores have been accepting coupons, I’ll continue to be able to save money and get great deals. I’m so happy to be able to actually pay my bills and still be able to eat well instead of just eating ramen all the time.
Hang in there =D I love my Publix people. They have always been helpful, friendly, and patient. I use coupons to make the most of my budget, and I am relieved to see them be so patient with me. Good Luck over the next couple weeks while this plays out.
Thank you, Erin!
We love people like you too!
Same here Erin. Publix always treats me so great. While prices are going up – i still find i love the customer service over any other store and i can still save more there. I will admit WD is attempting to have great Customer SVC but their prices are still just too overwhelming to shop there very often.
Out of my hundreds of Publix trips, i’ve only encountered ONE not so happy wonderful Cashier.
I normally do not reply to any post on here. But the above comment really got under my skin.
I do agree with you regarding dishonest people who return free items and try to scam Publix.
As for Publix accepting Manufacturer coupons and Competitor coupons and loosing money which is coming out of your pocket, I highly doubt that is the case. However, I will give you the benefit of the doubt, and if that is the case, then Publix should not accept coupons. But you can’t make a policy to accept and then get upset when people want to use coupons.
It is obvious, there strategy is to get you in the store to spent the money, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with that and apparently is working.
In Florida, Publix has no competition and your raise was not reduced because of the additional Competitor coupons that Publix received.
FYI, be careful what you wish for, sending people to sop at Walmart, might just put Publix out of business (ha ha) and you might end up working for Walmart yourself.
Oh, and name calling (idiots and morons) will never get you promoted to management, which I have heard receive some pretty darn big bonuses (must be all those coupons)
For the past 2 years, since the “economic downturn” associates have only been given $.15 raises, now that we are not throwing away $25 million a year in competitor coupons maybe we can get decent raises. We have done alot for our customers and some keep wanting more and more and more, and still some complain all the time. They can be verbally abusive, clean a whole shelf off of product so that no one else has a chance at it, steal all the advantage buy fliers the day they come out to sell the coupons on ebay, leave a cart full of groceries in a check out line if you wont take a $1 coupon from Lowe’s (please show me our lumber section?) Most are nice, but the people who threaten to leave because we wont “eat” the loss of $40-$50 bucks in competitor coupons on your order. You are costing us more money then you are bringing us in. We might lose some customers on somethings, but in the end, if someone is giving you $5 for a cart of groceries (and $100 of that was target or walgreens coupons) they are not helping us make profit anyway. I am glad they finally got some kind of spine. Things were completely out of hand.
Hi Lowly – things are still getting out of hand. i wish people would stop swiping your shelves….. or shelves at ANY STORE!! i’d like to buy my family one set of soap with out fighting for it.
lol
I like your post. seems logical, calm and collected.
I suppose this is an official policy discussion by Publix?
:::: Applause ::::
Thank you from a satisfied Publix customer.
By the way, I do give the cashier my coupons at the beginning of the transaction. To me, that is just common sense and makes things easier for both of us.
Amen Publix cashier lady! =}
gosh last time i recall FL did double coupon days was when i was a kid. My mom and i use to hit that day up EVERY WEEK – wahoo double coupon day! it hasnt existed since i was probably 12 years old (i’m in my late 30′s now).
But when i was a child – BOGO was not even in process yet so it kind of all evens out now. while i miss DOUBLE Q days – at least now we have BOGO deals we can match two manu Q’s with (and possibly two Store Q’s). That’s a great trade off if you ask me!
YOUR A BITCH! You must be a single woman who just has cats at home with her! Until you have children you will never understand the importance of a “good deal”, shame on you!
Woah there honey-as a couponer and a retail worker I’ve seen every scenario in the book coupon wise and I think this Publix move is going to be a “good deal” for everyone-I actually like being able to buy a product off my shelf and not have to get rainchecks and I think taking a competitors coupon is a kind gesture from a store so if they decide to limit it it’s not that big of a deal.
But the use of profanity regarding any type of deal is uncalled for-especially if you have children. Please be kind not only to your fellow couponers but also your cashiers-it will make getting your “good deals” easier
I went to my local st cloud store today. They said no more BJ’S AND NO MORE $5.00 SAVE A LOT coupons. That stinks
That doesnt stink. Bj’s coupons should never be allowed to use at a grocery store unless you are getting the same exact item with same exact quanity but Im sure your not. Bj’s coupons are for bulk items that Publix dont carry its people that try to pull off stuff like that for the policy change. Its not rocket science people.
Thank you, Angie!
I’m glad some people still have a conscience about this!
Again i state i am so SO thankful Publix is no longer accepting BJ’s coupons. There’s just NO honesty or loyalty to the coupon world from those who were using BJ coupons (bulk coupons) at Publix.
It seems so fraudalent!
A friend of mine’s wife was using BJ Q’s at Publix and it burned me up. I always told him i understood she was a newbie and that at her point she had become addicted to the savings but its not an honest way of being a couponer and i wished she would stop.
now she has no choice!
Just to be clear for everyone, BJ coupons will still be accepted (As of my coupon training). If the coupons say “In-Club Manufacturer” then we will be taking it because we have been told that we do indeed get the money back on those items, as they are manufacturer coupons.
Also, I agree with ‘Publix Cashier’ on their statement, except I am one of the people giving out info before hand =p. Truthfully, it doesn’t matter when the information gets out, either way it’s going to come out. However, what they did say is true, the competitor coupons do hurt Publix a lot, that’s why we care. Hours have been cut WAY back, and we hardly ever have enough help anymore, that’s because we are losing a lot of money. Guess what our raises consist of. It used to be a 25cent raise every 6 months (BIG MONEY!), now it’s 15cents… It’s all because of Publix losing money through coupons.
Also, to those couponers that know who they are, don’t destroy merchandise to get your deals. We ran out of M&Ms during that one big BJs coupon so they went to the variety packs and ripped them open to get those M&Ms. Those are meant to be sold as 1 big package, not the small ones inside.
Like I said, don’t say what your policy is unless you state your full location. I have been instructed to no longer take BJ’s.
Thanks for your comments. I definitely agree that there are coupon abusers out there (not on this site tho!!
), and find the practice simply shameful. I am thrilled that Publix has created a documented, corporate policy. Hopefully, this will create more peace and harmony for the couponers, and for the Publix employees. It is unfortunate that your raises are decreasing in value, especially when Publix is showing an increase in sales, earnings and stock prices (see link). Coupons usage is definitely not hurting the growth of Publix
Ooops..here’s the link:
http://www.publix.com/about/newsroom/NewsReleaseItem.do?newsReleaseItemPK=4856
Nice post…it shut up the posters(publix losing money) for a month
Hey i just have one comment about raises -
ATLEAST you are getting one. and on that note i work for a corporation that gives out annual merit increases and most of us only get about 40 cents a year. While that seems petty and hardly much more than your 30 cent annual raise – at least its a raise.
Understand that while the economy is hurting you – its hurting everyone. We all just have to bare through this regardless of whether you get a 50 cent raise or a 30 cent raise.
Dont complain. A job is a job.
AMEN!!! I am a mother of 2 and was laid off over 4 years ago. Still struggling to get by, my husband is so stressed. Be thankful to have a job! When you can’t get hired anywhere because you’re not straight out of highschool and have experience (they don’t want to pay more for that!) …it just flat out sucks!
…so lpease, no complaining about not getting a raise…I can barely feed my kids!
Well from what I was told it’s not just my store, it’s the division, which is Lakeland.
Ok well I am Jacksonville Division. Everyone needs to talk to their home store and see what the deal is. It’s going to cause so many problems with people coming on here and reading conflicting reports. The same policy was distributed over the state, I don’t see how there are different interpretations.
well to sum up my situation – i am in Orlando and neither of the publix stores i shop at accept ANY BJ Q’s – AT ALL.
I am not happy with the changes my Publix is making. They are taking The Fresh Market as a competitor, but not Whole Foods. Whole foods is in the same plaza as Fresh Market!!! How is one a competitor and the other not??? Also not taking Sweetbay, which is right now the street from them!! Makes no sense to me :O(
This sounds great to me as well! And for people that work at Publix posting comments I dont believe they are losing money from coupons there are probably many other factors because I now only shop there because of the great coupon policy and I buy plenty of things without coupons, I dont understand why some cashiers are so mean about it we are CUSTOMERS and you need to treat us like any other customer to keep us coming back! Coupon abusers need to go away I agreed I only buy what we use but I have a family of 7 and a husband who was laid off so I have to cut coupons and I dont want to be made to feel like I am ripping anyone off!
Agreed! The people who are not using the coupons right need to go away. But also the cashiers who treat EVERYONE who uses coupons like theives should be aware that they economy sucks and not everyone has a job. I cannot tell you the countless times I have been giving a dirty look for using coupons.
Read the press release above they are not losing any money but making it!
I agree with the cashier that we are no longer taking Bjs coupons. At my location we take Target, Winn Dixie and Save a lot. I have been with the company 20 plus years and this coupon policy is the way it use to be back when I started. I get so sick of people leaking things to the public before we are suppose to. This person should lose their job. If they can’t keep their mouth shut about this what else are they telling people. Those Bj people pack up your coupons and your card and start shopping there. I am tired of my retirement going down because we aren’t getting paid for those coupons.
I AM SO GLAD THEY ARE NOT ACCEPTING BJ’s coupons anymore. I know its SAVING families money or was but to be honest i felt this was not an ethical way of couponing. It was just flat out wrong. I knew someone who was doing this and it BURNED ME UP.
Hi Everyone, coupons are beyond helpful, especially during these tough economic times. I love shopping at Publix, never had a bad experience there. When I felt I was wronged I simply spoke to the Manager that quickly resolved the issue. I really began using coupons that I am able to continue to shop at Publix for the service. I save an average of 74% of my groceries, you may save more at Wal-Mart, but I won’t trade the experience of that. I recently wrote to Publix with a question, their office responded within a day via email and the local manager called asking if I need any further clarification.
I agree the “Cashier”, I’ve been behind people that are the core already dishonest people. I take time to plan out and clip the coupons I use so that I am in and out quick. As for the double or triple coupons stores not in Florida provide, well they do that at a loss to them.
Publix is a private company that can demand or create any rule it wants with coupons. It is not your “right” to demand anything. Want to make your mark then, shop elsewhere. I prefer less crowded aisles.
I do have one point of contention. I use coupons honestly, they way the directions on each coupon provides. What I will not allow is a convenient interpretation the cashier at times provides depending if they had lunch or not. The above “Publix Cashier” says “So for all you selfish people that come in to buy a $1 pack of gum with a $3 coupon, you tell me how that is ethical. I call that stealing.” Luuucccy you have some essplaining to dooo..
How is that stealing? Do you not understand that Publix will earn 8 cents on top of the coupon value for shipping and handling?
Publix has chosen to discount the item to $1. The manufacture has decided to provide me, the consumer, with a form of payment worth $3. Publix can mark down the coupon, but if it does not, it can redeem it for cash value PLUS 8 cents from the manufacture.
Recently the Bic razors were BOGO, final cost was $5.49 for both. I was given a $3 off EACH by the manufacture because I PURCHASED the Sunday paper (also what do you care if I got 20 papers, they were all bought with money I earned by working). Both items cost $5.49 for 2, I had coupons totaling $6 off 2. I earn 50 cents minus tax. This is stealing how? Why do I need 20 packs of razors? Great question, WHY DO YOU CARE? Actually I donated all of them plus extra to military care packages for the heroes that protect us.
I can appreciate your concerns and irritations, but you don’t need great argument rendered useless because you act childish with name calling.
That cashier was talking about taking BJs coupons if you read his/her post correctly. They put out coupons designed for bulk items, and the poster was referring to using a $3 BJs coupon designed for a multi-pack of gum on a single individual pack.
Thank you FL Girl, and most of the BJ’s are competitors coupons, Airton, and we are not reimbursed for those.I was not speaking of the coupons you get in your paper, I use those too. But when you purposefully use wholesale club coupons in a regular grocery store your ticket goes into the negative. I have had to pay people to leave the store. That’s wrong. So before you condemn my “childishness with name calling”, Airton, please be aware of what you are talking about first.
Actually, what you wrote only makes mention of BJ’s in the beginning. Which would force me assume you were still indirectly speaking of a BJ specific coupon. I’m not one to make assumptions, I think we all know why…
You guys crack me up. Its why our couponing world is going to crapville. stop arguing and start understanding each other.
BJ coupons or any wholesale coupons being used in a regular store such as Publix was a terrible way of ripping off the store. I always hated seeing certain couponers using the BJ’s coupons in Publix. I always knew it was a ‘fraudalent’ way to save money.
i’m an honest couponer and i have been since my mother taught me how to be one as a young teenager.
It’s gotten so out of hand lately that i’ve almost become ill watching it.
If you are hoarding for the military – great.
If you are hoarding to clear shelves and stock your basement for 20 years. NOT GREAT.
I commend those who donate their stockpiles. that’s fantastic.
I loathe those who clear shelves just because they can.
It’s pretty basic.
LEAVE SOME FOR OTHER FAMILIES TOO. we are also in need.
Anyway – i hope everyone has a happy day – and happy couponing!
stop the coupon arguments!
I will no longer be shopping at my Publix in Cape Haze FL after today. I was told by the front end cashier I could use my manufacture check and a coupon together because one is a coupon and the other is a check. Once I got to the line the cashier treated me like garbage for using coupons and gave me such an attitude. I was told by her I couldn’t do that and was talked to like a child. I went out of my way to check first before doing it and they still treated me like a thief. My advice is just stay out of these stores if they are going to treat us all like thieves. Publix: where shopping USED to be a pleasure!!
You can not hold the stores reputation hostage for the experience you had with a cashier. Grow up and advocate for yourself and ask for a manager. Not every cashier will be pleasant of knowledgable regarding coupons. Do what I do- find a few cashiers you like that are sweet and cooperative and go to their line, if there is a problem ask for help. Sounds to me like you let the attitude of one cashier make decisions for you- Take your POWER back! : )
I’m going to agree with Shawnee here. while i dont shop at Walmart anymore, when i USE TO shop there all my cashiers were rude but while at any of my Publix stores i’ve only encountered ONE rude cashier out of hundreds of visits. IT DOES HAPPEN. There are cashiers having bad days or just dont know how to represent Publix correctly so do yourself a favor and go back to Publix and complain to the manager. It only takes one complaint for a Publix Cashier to change his/her attitude – or leave!
Anyone have Save-A-Lot as a competitor, and if so, what matchups do you look for?
Anyone inquire yet about the policy concerning the Yellow and Green Fliers/Ads that Publix puts out that state 1 coupon per person?
If it says 1 coupon per person, then it’s just that. ONE per person.
If it’s one per person, you’ll just need to use any more of that coupon in different transactions. Hope that helps!
my manager states 1 per customer,i explained he coupon did not state that (green flyer) and he told me he recievd an email from his boss stating 1 not 1 per transaction but 1
I just came from my local store(E. Bradenton, Fl @ SR64 & Lakewood Ranch Blvd) and was surprised to see that they have listed as their competitor Fresh Market along with Sweetbay. Those are the only two they accept now. Sweetbay is only 3 mi. away and makes sense but Fresh Market is over 10 mi., doesn’t sell much in the way of comparable groceries and you have to drive right past a Super Target to get there. I can’t say I’ve ever seen a coupon from Fresh Market. I don’t get it.
Publix in Orlando, FL on Landstar Blvd. accepts Sedano’s and Winn-Dixie. Hunter’s Creek location on Orange Blossom Trail accepts Sedano’s and Target. Lake Nona location on Narcoossee Road will accept Winn-Dixie.
Hey Megan i live near UCF and the two publix stores i shop at both accept: Target, Sedano, and WD coupons.
I hope that doesnt change! I love using my $5 off $55 WD coupon at Publix!
I just called 3 of my local Publix stores (Tallahassee, FL) all 3 listed the same competitors
Earth Fair
Fresh Market
Winn Dixie
Harvey’s
The 3 stores were:
Southwood, Lake Ella and Crawfordville Hwy
I am so bummed…no more Target
Hi, I love the one on Blairstone (Gov Crossing) but they are not even taking Harvey’s, just the other three (according to the sign newly posted). This will definitely be challenging, without Target and Harvey’s the others either rarely have coupons or they don’t even carry the same brands/products!
Was waiting for a copy of the coupon policy at my local Publix when I looked over at the newspaper section and a lady is standing there ripping the plastic coupon section out of a newspaper open and just taking it and leaving it there for the next person to buy without coupons. what??? I told the manager b/c people like that are nothing but thieves. I’m sick of going to buy a paper and the coupon section is ripped open. Buy a paper!!
Also, if anyone is in Port St. Lucie, FL, the Veranda Falls Publix on Becker Rd. is taking Target, Albertsons and Winn-Dixie as competitor coupons according to their policy which they have copies available at each register
Hey jill do yourself a favor and save by subscribing to your local paper for ONLY SUNDAYS. you will save yourself more. I pay 80 cents for my sunday paper to be thrown on my driveway versus the 1.50 i think it is in the stores???
Hoarders do exist, every where we go. Isnt it totally sad? it makes me sick to my stomach to watch these people steal coupons, dip in garbage cans, steal papers from driveways and stockpile for a depression leaving us with nothing on the shelves.
happy couponing! enjoy it if you still can!
Just to show how policy can vary – in Atlanta you can split a BOGO purchase and just buy one item for half price. In Lakeland division you have to buy two items for BOGO deals. In Atlanta they said that they have to do that because of the competition there. Happy Couponing.
So upset by this because this means my Publix here in Jacksonville, Florida will not take Target coupons even though they carry a lot of the same products and are not even 2 miles away from each other. and here in Florida No One doubles any coupon.
use your target coupons at walmart. They accept manufacturer and competitor coupons as well and we match Publix’s ad (including BOGOS) their prices are already cheaper so they actually end up having better deals.
Hey Paula my walmart never accepts my print at home coupons. They refuse almost every time when i attempt to use them at Walmart therefore i quit going months and months ago. I find i am a happier person without Walmart in my life.
They might match prices but they arent taking my Q’s and 80% of mine are print at home! Its frustrating!
I’m new to couponing and was wondering if someone could help me out w/ some clarification. I see it says you can only use 1 manufacturer coupon per item. Does this mean if i have a coupon from the paper for 50 cents off an item, and a coupon that i printed offline for $1 off the same item, i cannot use both coupons?
What about if i have a coupon from the paper that says 50 cents off when you buy 2 of something, and one that i printed offline for 35 cents off two of the same thing. Can i use both since i am getting 2 items? or since 1 coupon counts towards both items, can in only use 1 of them?
@Lindsey – It is one manufacturer coupon and one store coupon per item. The store coupon can be a Publix store coupon or a competitor store coupon (not both). It doesn’t matter where you get the coupons (newspaper or online), you jsut have to be clear as to the type of coupon and the limits of use. Micheele has a great FAQs section here: http://www.iheartpublix.com/index.php/publix-faqs/
Good luck!
ok just left my publix i used 2 green advange flyer coupons…manager walks over to me while i am in line.. and states i can only use one, i asked why,he stated from now on, it will be one publix coupon per customer . i asked why he said it stated it on the coupon ,i showed him it was not,he shrugged his shoulders and stated ,well its up to me….funny thing is i am not a huge couponer, i spend 1200 per month at publix and he lost my business over a 1 dollar coupon ????
Also quick question living here in florida publix does little ..meaning no doubles no gas savings no penny deal…so if florida publix are losing money how on earth are the publix who provide so much in other states making money…they must be broke…
My Publix in Greenacres, FL accepts Winn Dixie, Sedanos and Target. YEAH–finally the accept Target!!!!
Hi There,
Thanks for posting the policy. I’m in the Clearwater, FL area and shop mostly at the Northwood Plaza Publix.
In the new policy it states that for a BOGO each item is considered a separate sale. Does that mean I can use two coupons, one for the buy one and another for the get one free? I just checked my reciept from last week and the BOGOs are not showing as half price – but rather with the full price on the first item and full price with the full price subtracted for the second one.
Just checking, because if I can use two coupons, it would be different than the way things were working down here in Florida, and would be pretty cool
Thanks folks!
Christine
Hey CHristine – you can use a Manufacture Q on each item when you are buying a BOGO deal. Isnt that great?
If I have a Publix, $5 off $30 and a Winn-Dixie $5 off $50, does that mean my order must total $80?
Dollars-off-total-order coupons will be limited to one Publix and one competitor coupon per order. The order total must be equal to or greater than the total purchase requirements indicated on the coupon(s) presented.
Does anyone know the current answer to this?
In Pensacola, FL if you had a Publix $5 off $30 and an Apple Market $5 off $30 they would accept both if your order total was $30 (so you would get a total of $10.00 off the $30.00). However, today (2/26/12) they do not do this and that the order would have to be a total of $60.00 to use both the coupons.
Ok so…
I have a legit coupon that was sent to me directly from the company that is a ‘freebie’. Can i use this at Publix? i know there has been some issues with free coupons but its NOT a copy/internet/print-at-home type coupon – its straight from the company itself. Its a free 5 count Zyrtec Q.
I do parties through houseparty all the time and they give us coupons to get product free for the party. I have used them at my local Publix (E.Brainerd, TN) and they accept them. I do have to pay the tax but hey I’ll gladly do that for a free item.
Does Publix accept register rewards?
Went to Publix today and was so mad by the time I left. Spent about 3 hours in the store getting everything I needed and wanted because I was using certain coupons! Go to ring out and the cashier wouldnt stack all my coupons, The worse one was I had BOGO coupon and another BOGO coupon so the products should of been FREE, they wouldnt let me use any BOGO on BOGO coupon, then they had charcoil advertised for $7.99 and when ringing it up it came to $10.69 and when I let the cashier know that it should be $7.99 he wouldnt change it because it should still be advertised!! Never again will go to that Publix again!!!!!!
SHOULDNT still be advertised!
Wow sorry you ran into that at your Publix. I know locally I had gone to check out and was certain an item I purchased said BOGO on the shelf but it was ringing up full price for both. I was using the self check out so I asked the cashier over them. While she was on the phone with the dept the product came from the manager came over and asked me if there was a problem. So I told him what was going on. He walked to the item, came back with the tag, did the adjustment. I then heard him telling an assistant manager that the tag should have been pulled several weeks ago.
I LOVE Publix. It’s the only place I buy food. They’ve been nothing but nice and helpful. I’ve seen Extreme Couponing and I think those people have a problem. They’re just hoarders. The most of anything I’ve ever bought at one time was 4. And I’ve never tried to use a coupon for something I didn’t purchase.
