Weekly Totals 4/1
April 1, 2011
It’s Friday–time to do our weekly wrap up and tally our savings.
I only made it out once to shop this week…but it was a big trip!! My shopping cart was overflowing!! I have to get some dinner going for my guys and then I plan on curling up to watch some movies and TAKE THE NIGHT OFF! So, this week you just get a list of what I got along with the totals. Hey, it is April Fools Day–that is kinda like a holiday right..tee hee!! So this week I am going to skip the coupon details to save a little time (and sanity)!
So here is what I got this week:
Perdue Chicken Breast Package x 7
Philadelphia Cooking Cream x 7
Betty Crocker Fruit Snacks x 8
Publix Bread
Bananas
Oreo Cookies x 4
Ritz Crackers x 2
Smuckers Jam x 2
Weight Watchers Frozen Treats x 8
Kraft Cheese Shredded x 4
Kraft Bars x 2
FlatOut Bread x 2
Al Fresco Sausage x 2
Coca-Cola 12 pk x 4
Yakisoba x 6
Alka Seltzer x 4
Grapes
Peter Pan Peanut Butter x 6
Mahatma Rice x 10
Oscar Mayer Hot Dogs x 2
Silk Soy Milk
KC Masterpiece BBQ Sauce
I used coupons on everything but the grapes and bananas and ended up with a total of $66.48. Remember I won a $50 Publix gift card…so after that baby I only spent $16.48 from my grocery budget this week!! So for under $17 I got $257 worth of groceries! That gift card helped me score 94% savings this week. I call that a successful shopping week–and that is no joke
Happy April Fools Day everyone!!

I wish FL doubled.
Me too!!!
I sooooo do too!!!!!
Enjoy your evening off! Shopping with a gift card is always fun, especially for the bank account. I did not shop a lot at Publix this week, but I did get in on the Hunts Ketchup deal, as I was down to 2 after last years mail-in-rebate.
I also stocked up on the Smartbalance lactose free milk deal, as 4 out of 5 in my family are lactose intolerant. I could only fit six, so I am probably going to go back and get more on Wednesday, when there is room in the fridge again.
I’m a pretty healthy person who has really tried to catch on to this coupon thing. I’m doing pretty well. However, most of the food items that coupons are for me an my family don’t eat. It’s all over priced, processed foods that should be free with coupons. I mean Oreos…No nutritional value. Seriously, how many hot dogs and sausages can someone eat.
I shop the outside perimeter of the grocery store and do not buy processed meat or packaged lunch meat filled with nitrates. It’s bad folks! Eat from the earth!!! We also eat lots of fresh fruits and vegetables. Too bad there aren’t more coupons for healthy items.
Don’t get me wrong, I use coupons a lot! But mostly for medicines, toiletries, paper goods and cereals. I’ll never have as low a grocery bill as the rest of you folks.
You don’t have to get as low as others…it is not a contest.
You do what makes you happy and others will do the same–no judgement here (at least from us!)
Just curious, but how much was the Purdue Chicken breast? I have a couple Q’s with the $ off on chicken when you buy philly.
great job!!
I can’t get my links to submit, BUT I did 2 trips this week…One from last week’s sale…I saved 90%:

& One from this week’s sale…I saved 59%:

I spent $21.99 for $102.97 worth of groceries, saved $80.98 = 79%
Freebeeamy,
I understand what you mean and I actually thought the same thing before I started…you may not save as much as the others but you can come pretty darn close, for example I don’t buy lunchmeat with nitrates either but the hormel is 2 for 5 this week, also some of the hot dogs that were on sale were premium nitrate free as well. My husband and kids love hot dogs so I used to only buy coleman but was able to score a deal last week. I also stopped buying organic at publix and started having my organic produce delivered to save money. I still don’t buy anything with partially hydrogenated oils, trans fat etc. and I am still saving a ton of money. Its just a lot more work, so don’t give up on the couponing!!!!
I do not but too much ” junk food” either. The thing is that if you are saving and stocking up on the staples, for me its baby needs, hygiene, cleaning, dog needs etc…you are not having to buy those high dollar items on a weekly or even monthly basis, so your food bill is going to be lower anyways. I go to my local fruit stand for fruits and veggies and when I do find my bottom line prices on meat, milk and other perishables, I stock up and freeze them. I added up my saving and spending for the month of March and I spent about $250 out of pocket and saved over $600! This is for a family of 5 plus 2 dogs. It can be done even on a healthy diet!!!!!
