Weekly Totals 2/25
February 25, 2011
It’s Friday and that means it is time to talk about how we did this week in our shopping adventures! I can’t wait to see how you guys did this week. I did more shopping this week than I have done in a while. I told you guys a while back that I was going to get a freezer and guess what…it came yesterday!! I was so excited you would have thought that I won the lottery!!
I did a bunch of looking around for the best deal possible. I ended up going with an upright freezer. While it is not quite as energy efficient as the chest, I really feel like it will be best for my needs! I have the freezer in what I call the panic room. We have a huge area in our basement that is a concrete room. It is just a huge storage area underneath my front porch and where we sat when we were hit by the tornado a few years back (this the name the panic room
). I wanted the freezer to be out of the way without taking up too much of my storage space so the upright was the best choice for that space.
My husband laughed at me when I called him earlier today. You see Target is having one heck of a frozen sale and so of course I need to fill my new toy–tee hee!! I live in the boonies and the closest Super Target is about 45 minutes. So I threw the boys in the car to do a little shopping.
It has been a long day and I will be honest guys I really don’t have the energy to type up everything that I got. You see I walked out with over 126 items!! Yes I did 18 deals at Target to score $90 in gift cards. So this week I thought I would just do a sort of show and tell.
As you can see I stocked up on Weight Watchers meals and snacks. I also got some pizza and chicken for the boys. Plus I scored a TON of veggies. All of those little things you see in the door are single serve ice creams! I scored a ton of the Skinny Cow and Ben & Jerry’s cups!
I had to get two carts when I was shopping today so I just knew that my freezer was going to be filled. As you see I barely put a dent in it! I just may have to go back
This week I spent quite a bit out of pocket but I totally feel that I got a great deals. Overall I spent $141.59 from my grocery budget (that included an existing gift card). While I do have $90 in Target gift cards I am not going to subtract them from that amount. I am going to tuck those away to use later (maybe even tomorrow if I get a wild hair–tee hee!)
This week I may have only saved 55% BUT….the addition of the gift card will lessen my grocery or clothing spending for another week! So, it will even out in the end! The fact that I have enough to last me for a couple of months means it was a good shopping week!!
So how did you do this week? Leave a comment or link to your weekly totals!

First link didn’t work for some reason (#!)…you can delete that.
Congrats on the new freezer, Michele! Don’t know what I’d do without mine!!
I spent $8.93 for $146.31 worth of groceries, saved $137.38 = 94%
Oooooh, I am so jealous of your beautiful new toy! I have been begging my husband for one too but so far he hasn’t budged. Congratulations & happy freezer filling!
Congrats on the new freezer! I recently got a mall chest from a relative and I also acted like it was a major event!!
My question is why did you not roll your gift cards over onto the next purchase? bringing your OOP way down?
two boys in tow and I knew I could spend them later
I had to go the easy route
They would not allow it during this sale. You had to come back for another trip.
I was able to do multiple transactions at my store. It was a pain though to separate everything into piles with matching q’s!
i had no problem rolling mine. i did 3 transactions back to back at one store.. my cashier even reminded me to go get the banquet pot pies!
Great on getting the freezer, just in time for March:Frozen Food Month. So many great deals coming up!! I loved my trip to Publix this week, hearing the couple whispering behind me about how much I saved!!
Spent 28.67
saved 51.98 (16.50 if it was coupons)
I’m always happy when my savings are at least 50%
We needed a lot of things that did not have coupons for and/or on sale. At Publix’s we bought $314.64 Saved $167.14 and Spent $147.50 which is a 53% savings.
I wanted to do more frozen deals, but I havent found much cheap enough that we eat. I did get Tonys & Red Baron pizza, but we don’t eat Smart Ones, and they were out of the single ice creams. Oh how I wish there were waffle coupons!
Oh my $90 in gift cards, and wow what a beauty you’ve got yourself there! Congratulations!
I did major shopping at Target as well, and my freezer is filled up.
I took pictures of the pantry and my tiny freezer, just to show exactly how filled up everything is….. I sure hope we don’t loose power any time soon.

I want to give a big thanks to Crystal at CouponBeat.com for the great service in getting me my Publix $5.00 off $30.00 coupon. I loved the fact she had those for sale on her website.
I have freezer envy.
Great job, Michelle! I stocked up as well at Target.
Great Freezer! I love mine too! I have a small chest freezer because I didnt have a lot of space, but the uprights are nicer, it’s easier to see what you have stored in them. I have to occassionally empty mine out and repack it so I get the stuff from the bottom:) I guess that’s a good problem to have:)
I saved $199 on my first trip to publix this week and paid $50, my second trip I saved $99 and paid $36.51….my freezer is so packed, that I had to skip the Target Deals! Bummer! Considering my deals at Publix included Ensure Shakes for my Mom who just stated Chemo for Breast Cancer — also on sale with coupons, I was pretty excited:-)
Thanks for all you do! I love this site! In fact, I just told the nurse who came into the room last night about it. She saw me organizing my coupons in my moms hospital room and she said she was a big coupon user and then told me how expensive Publix is. I told her about my shopping trips and how I didnt think it was and that she should check out your site…. So she wrote it down:-)
Thanks! Because of you, I can fill my pantry and my Moms while she’s dealing with Cancer for less than I used to fill my own. I was a great couponer before… but since I find your site… I’ve become a Awesome couponer!
Congratulations on your freezer! I couldn’t live without mine. In case you have trouble filling your freezer with actual frozen items, I always put extra pastas, pancake mixes, flour etc in my freezer. It allows more space in my pantry for other items and the freezer keeps items fresher for longer periods of time.
What kind of deals do you make at Target to get the gift cards?
Money saving mom dot com reported doing this deal in her “Tonight’s Target Trip” post. She listed a promotion at select stores where you get a $5 Target gift card when you buy 7 frozen items.
I too stocked up for hurricane season. I loved that I got cheap soup and chef boyardee! I had an awesome trip and Publix gave me back $21.60 and I saved $843.
I need a freezer. Your’s looks wonderful!! Where did you get it??
Hi. I am new to using coupons and already I am already saving so much and I an going to need a freezer very soon. I just wondered if you could recommend a freezer, and where you were able to purchase it? Thanks!
LOVE your new freezer. You have so much room left – I bet you spent all day Sat in Target HAHAHAHHAHA tee hee
I would be there if I had any room left in my freezers lol.
I wanted those skinny cow cups! They were all out but I did stock up on 31 frozen veggies, 2 Boca Burgers, and 2 Lean Cuisines for $10! I have a deep freeze too, and I love it! Great job Michelle!
