Weekly Totals 1/28
January 28, 2011
Well here it is Friday again and I feel like I was just sitting here typing up my weekly totals from last week only yesterday! I am just not sure where all of my hours and days go. I keep telling myself that I am going to get caught up, but I just can’t quite get all of my to do’s done.
Once again this week, I really did not make a list or plan my shopping like I should have! I glanced at the ad, grabbed a few coupons and went shopping! I did what I tell people NOT to do…I shopped without a list or a weekly menu
So this week I am an example of what you should not do!
My Publix bill was $80 and change. Now, I did have a gift card and knew that when I shopped so I did not make the best choices. I went through the produce department just grabbing what I thought I might need. I grabbed several packages of cookies for the boys and of course I was hungry when I was shopping…so I grabbed over $9 worth of Weight Watchers ice cream treats–YIKES!!
Ok, so I know it is not the end of the world…but looking at the total at the checkout I was a bit disappointed with myself! Yes, I had the gift card and that makes it look like I had a really good week. BUT–had I taken 30 minutes to plan– that gift card would have easily stretched and covered another trip to the store. Oh well, next week I can start again and make up for it
I did grab a whole bunch of super cheap Diet Coke this week thanks to the deal at CVS. So that did make me feel a little better.
This week I spent $25.58 for $255.26 worth of groceries. That means with coupons and gift cards I saved 90% this week. Again…while that sounds great, I really think with a little planning I could have easily kept at least $25 of that gift card and used it next week.
Here is what I got this week:

I spent $11.62 for $88.71 worth of groceries, saved $77.09 = 87%
Don’t beat yourself up, That is really awesome. Look at what you accomplished and focus in that!
My last trip I spent $80 for $160 worth of groceries.
I don’t have gift cards though.
Ditto on mine, almost exactly, LOL
I’m with you, there just isn’t enough hours in the week. I think it is important that even savvy frugalistas give themselves a break once in a while. I grabbed the soda at CVS this week too, it just doesn’t get cheaper than that.
I have been sick all week (suspecting bronchitis), but I still had to walk 4-5 miles every day dropping off and picking up kids at school, and I surprised myself by actually shopping at five different stores this week… I must have looked like a ghost most of the time though, and no one gave me a hard time about my coupons. I did not realize how tired I was, until I passed some utility workers, who commented that I looked tired (I still had three miles left:).
So, yes there just isn’t hours enough in the day, but I sure am glad this week is OVER!

i went to publix today, bought $88 worth of groceries and only spent $28 in foodstamps(i spend coupons with them as if it was cash) thank you publix for making me able to stretch them for a whole month, sometimes with some leftover
Michelle-sometimes you just need a break. with alot of ice cream.
I spent $85 and saved $160, not too shabby and I bought lots of toiletries.
What are the CVS gift cards? Are they literally gift cards or are they CVS bucks??
Wow, you rock, gift card or no gift card! This week, I spent $115 and saved $171, 60%. This includes all the milk and dairy, meat, fruit, veggies, baby food, baby bottle Drop-Ins, snacks and everything to make our meals with for the week, plus many toiletries, paper products and extras that I will be able to give to my family in GA soon. We have the added blessing that my north FL Publix accepts almost all competitor coupons! Your hard work on this wonderful site, and the time it takes me to get organized and prepared for a shopping trip, is so very worth it. Thank you!!!

Since I am in FL, no double coupons and I just started couponing again out of necessity two weeks ago. Mind you, I bought a lot of meat but on $500 worth of grocery, I saved $127. I almost got a 25% off CVS coupon to work but alas at the last minute the manager changed their mind. (would have been another $154 off). I buy for about a week and a half for six people. We just moved our weekly budget to 400 a week (yeah I know that is a lot but I have teenagers and I am on weight watchers, that stuff gets pricey). I can’t thank all of you enough (everyone, commenters as well) for all the help this site has given me. I hope to save even more (I am now buying inserts from the past month that I missed online). Even my mom was helping me print out online printables on her computer and helping me sort yesterday.
Michelle — your site’s been an amazing help to me and my kids (and loads of other people) so thanks again for all you do. Your totals still seem pretty fantastic to me. I’m a beginner coupon-er but wangled a 60% save(spent $45, saved $67)this week. I’m pretty chuffed with that.
