Quaker Oatmeal Giveaway

I am so excited that my boys will both be going to a three day preschool starting this week!!  I am thrilled to be getting a few hours to myself!!  While I will love the freedom, I will also have to get used to getting up and going a bit earlier that we usually do.  I will admit that some days we may stay in pajamas until 10am.  So, to have the boys fed and out the door by 8:30 will take a little getting used to  

I am not one to spend a bunch of time in the kitchen in the morning but I do want to ensure that my boys get a nutritious breakfast.  This will be even more important as I send them off to school to play and learn!  Neither of my boys have ever really cared for cold cereal but both boys love oatmeal!!  I love giving them oatmeal because is is not only is it delicious but it is also a nutritious choice!!  When the folks at Quaker offered to send me their newest oatmeals to try, I gladly accepted!  Quaker is the brand I grew up eating and now my boys are huge fans too!  My flavor of choice has always been Maple & Brown Sugar but now that Quaker has come out with the Quaker Hearty Medleys–I might have a new favorite!! 

New Quaker Hearty Medleys is a delicious new instant multigrain hot cereal designed for adults that has a heartier texture along with real fruits and nuts!  I have tried both the Apple Cranberry Almond and the Banana Walnut and I can’t decide which flavor I prefer as they are SO good!!  Either way I am making a good choice since a serving is between 130 -140 calories (depending on flavor) and is also a good source of fiber! 

Quaker also has great new option that is perfect for kids – new Quaker Mix-Up Creations Instant Oatmeal.  These have been quite the hit at my house.  Each box comes with three different flavors in half pouch servings and the kids can mix and match to create their own oatmeal flavor!  They have so much fun choosing their two flavors and so far they have loved each combination!  There are two variety packs, one with Blueberry Blast, Banana Slamma and Apple-tastic and the second variety pack includes Mapl-icious, Cinn-O-Man and Apple-tastic.  The best part is that no matter the combination, kids will have fun with breakfast.

If you are a fan of the original flavors you will be happy to find out that Quaker has improved three favorites.  Apples & Cinnamon, Maple & Brown Sugar and Cinnamon & Spice are now made with larger oats for a heartier texture.  They are a great way to start your morning off right with a nutritious and delicious breakfast in only minutes!!

Thanks to all the options provided by Quaker, it will be easier to make sure my boys have a great breakfast that I can make quickly so we can be on our way to the carpool lane!

Each week Susan over at My Family Eats brings us a gourmet meal that is budget friendly.  I have tried all of Susan’s recipes and they have all been so good!!  I can guarantee you that I will be making this week’s dish too!! This week Susan’s Big Taste Small Budget is a recipe for Shrimp Scampi.

Publix has large shrimp on sale for $4.99 per pound and I know you all have plenty of pasta in your pantry.  I bet most of you could make this meal for next to nothing!!  You better believe I will be pulling some shrimp out of my freezer this week!  You will definitely want to check out Susan’s recipe…this one would be perfect for a weeknight or when you want to impress guests!
