Weekly Totals

August 20, 2010

I did a little shopping this week.  I am pretty well stocked from my big trip last week so I really just ran to the stores to grab the super deals to add to my stockpile.  I just couldn’t pass up cheap soda, tissues and pancakes!

I know a lot of you will look at the list and wonder how on earth I made our meals from it but the stuff on the list this week will likely be used much later.  Remember I buy things when they are cheap or free so that I have them on hand when I need them.  I have had a bunch of requests to bring back my meal plan Monday so I am going to try very hard to remember to do it each week!!

This week I spent $31.88 for $173 worth of groceries.  That means this week I saved about 82% this week AND I still have a $4 Catalina to use next week!

Here is what I bought for $31.88:

Wow, your prices are great. I need to shop at your Publix, except I am in Florida.

    • Jodie says:

Yes, Publix has the monopoly on grocery stores down here. They don’t need to compete as much as they do up north. Sad we don’t get some of the great deals they get in GA:(

  2. Cheryl says:

Yes, some weeks we can bring home some crazy looking combinations.

I am link #21- This was probably my best trip. I had been working with my store manager for a few weeks now on the vitamin D. He preordered 40 for me, but they did not come in until this week. He told me he still wants to honor the store coupon. This gave me the overage I needed to get my other groceries. I lost the paper where I listed all of my coupons used in this transaction- sorry.

I’m really sad that my publix dosen’t do overage… is there a coupon policy I could print? Or is it just a store to store decision? They get their money (plus handling) for the manufacturers, and I end up spending on things I need that don’t have coupons! (meat, produce, etc) Silly, but I love Publix!

    • Jodie says:

I have read that some people grab publix gift cards at check out to capture their overages. Just an idea, but not mine:)

  5. Elizabeth says:

Just wondering about your Dr. Pepper deals…is there an additional coupon that you used besides the B2G1 to get $19 off? Or am I reading that wrong? Cause that’s an unbeatable deal! $9.50 for 6 12-packs?! Awesome!!

    • Elizabeth says:

Oh wait, that’s how it works with the store B2G1 and the coupon B2G1 combined? Just got it…sorry new to all of this couponing!!!

Hi this is my FIRST trip I’m a rookie :) I got $240.08 in groceries for $81. I wad pretty excited for my first time and I know it will get better as I learn more!!!

  7. Jo says:

I made 3 shopping trips, 1 to Publix and 2 to Kroger…such great deals at both stores this week!

    Publix: Spent $17.46 for $133.40 worth of groceries, saved $115.94 = 87%
    Kroger1: Spent $8.60 for $84.27 worth of groceries, saved $75.67 = 90%
    Kroger2: Spent $3.02 for $48.53 worth of groceries, saved $45.51 = 94%

  8. Jodie says:

spent 75.56 on 209.61 worth of groceries. Saved 135.99.

  9. Sharon says:

Please help me with the math…I come up with only $109.96 not $173 in total groceries? Does this price not include “specials” like B1G1 or something?

    • Michelle says:

Total savings is $173…it comes from the receipts and would include sales and store discounts. The $109 that you came up with is the actual price (post sale)

  10. Dina says:

Publix/CVS/Dollar General: Spent $10.43 for $252.22 worth of groceries, saved $241.79. Plus I qualify for the Kellog’s $5 rebate bringing my total OOP to $5.43.
