Weekly Totals

August 13, 2010

I did some major shopping this week!!  My pantry and refrigerator are slam full from my exploits this week!  I am going to have to get creative to make sure I use some of the things before they spoil.  I was able to score some great produce deals so I am going to be adjusting my menu a bit to make sure I use the items before they go bad!  I think I should be able to swing it!

I have to go work on a Brobee cake for my little one’s party tomorrow so I will be quick and give you guys the totals.  This week I spent $56.81 for over $397 worth of groceries.  That means I saved 86% this week! I also have $8.50 in Catalinas to use for next week!

Here is what I brought home:

Where are the fruits and vegetables?? You barely buy healthy foods! A bag of apples, one peach, onion and pepper???? Start early and get your kids knowledgeable about eating healthy and feeding their bodies good food instead of pre-packaged junk!

    • Michelle says:

      Seriously…
Let me point out a few things that apparently you missed because you choose to comment without asking for clarification…

9 POUNDS of apples (each of the 3 bags I bought were 3 lbs each)
5 peaches as they were .68¢ per pound
2 BUNCHES of bananas –otherwise were you not curious why one banana was so expensive???
3 POUND bag of onions–$2.99 would be an expensive onion!!
8 oz container of mushrooms (referred to as shrooms)
TWO 10 oz bags of salad
One 16 oz carton of strawberries (it is rare to find a single strawberry for $1.99)
TWO 16 oz bags of Spinach
      ONE head of cabbage
oh yes and one measly bell pepper…I needed it for a recipe

And a whole bunch of if you don’t have anything nice to say don’t say anything at all :D

Great job, Michelle – both on your weekly total and on the way you handle grouchy people.

      • Ahna says:

Yay for you Michelle. I am ALWAYS impressed by the quantity, quality and variety of what you buy. It is why I follow you! You make it look easy, and that gives me hope that I will someday come close to your skills!

      • Sherri says:

You go, girl! I have a friend who only shops at organic places and constantly looks down at me for buying non-organic stuff. I may have to use that last line when she starts in on me next time…. :)

this is blowing my mind. I just started couponing last week. this week I spent $50 and saved $40, which is a huge improvement for me, but when I see people at 80% I just don’t know how you do it!!!
I’ll be checking back often as I continue my coupon journey for more inspiration and help.
    thanks for your wonderful website!

I did rather well. I saved 65% on my groceries this trip, but I knowingly got some things full price because I needed to, plus I did stockpile some Greenworks because coupons were expiring and sales on those products are actually unusual in my neck of the woods. (I’m still reeling from the 25% off sale and $1.99 Greenworks Laundry detergent!)

I got my cukes for free, and some corn, too, using the Target printables. :-)

We’re pretty well stocked up for the next two weeks (milk excepted), so in essence I spent $81.00 for two weeks worth of groceries!

Why do negative people even bother to post?
Last Wednesday, at Publix, my total at
    check-out was $111.16, after coupons,
it was only $41.84. So I saved $69.32,
    or 63%.

I think you do an amazing job. I always check your site. This week I spent 175.00 and saved 135.00 That is really good for me. That will last us quite some time.

  5. CrissyK says:

Michelle, You do an incredible job on this site. I continuously save minimum of 50 % every time I shop. This past week it was 70%. I could not have done it without the help. Thanks so much for everything you do. Those people who post negative comments should just stay away from the site.

    • Lisa says:

I agree with CrissyK. I, also, save 60% weekly and this week I saved 75%. It is because of reading your website and all your reader’s responses. Thank you for making a very successfull website.

  6. jennifer says:
