orgjunkiempm1 300x142 Meal Plan Monday

I can’t believe I remembered…I think it is because I am still thinking about how good Susan’s Spaghetti alla Carbonara was.  It sounded so good that I just had to make it for dinner tonight!!  Mine turned out really good and my whole family thought it was great!!  I did add about a cup of grilled chicken to the recipe and next time I will use a tad bit more pasta water!  You guys have got to try it!

Jake has soccer practice tomorrow night so I am going to attempt to cook my cabbage rolls in the crockpot!  If it is a flop we will have sandwiches icon biggrin Meal Plan Monday

So here is what I have planned for this week:

Spaghetti alla Carbonara, french bread, salad
Cabbage Rolls (made with turkey & lots of veggies hidden in this one so it is a full meal by itself)
Hunan Chicken, Steamed Rice, Broccoli
Tilapia, Mac & Cheese, Green Beans
Barbeque Chicken, Baked Beans, Corn
Shepherd’s Pie, spinach salad

Is your cabbage rolls recipe on here somewhere? I have been looking for them. They sound so yummy!

Mina I have made it so much I can totally tell you from memory:
cut the core from the cabbage and boil for 5-10 min or until pliable

    Mix the following:
    1 lb ground turkey
    1/2 c rice
    1-2 cloves of garlic
1 cup water (can also use chicken broth)
    1/2 cup of breadcrumbs (seasoned)
shredded veggies (carrots, zucchini, onion, broccoli, califlower–seriously anything on hand!!)
    salt & pepper

I typically boil in tomatoes/tomato sauce for an hour

    YUMMY!!!

I make a veggie one that is very similar but I use rice and raisins… no meat, and some OJ for some of the liquid. Its really good :) . I steam my cabbage, though I’m sure it doesn’t matter.

If you haven’t made cabbage rolls before, you just use a “sheet” of cabbage and stuff it with the mixture she listed above and roll them up. Then you place them in the crockpot. I did mine on low for 6-8 hours and then it just sat on warm. I piled a bunch of rolls on top of each other. They were very tender so be careful when removing.

I’m assuming you brown the turkey first and then add everything else? Then roll in leaves of cabbbage? These sound great!

I am not a very knowledgable cook, therefore, what do you mean by boil in tomotatoe/tomatoe sauce. Also do you just roll everything in the cabbage and then cook it? One more question, your menus, are they based on the current Publix add or the one to come?
    Thanks! I love your sight!
