I have told you guys before how much I love using Restaurant.com gift certificates as a way to stretch our entertainment budget. I have noticed that whenever I post about the promos I usually get lots of emails with questions about how they work. This past weekend I was chatting with a friend and she said she had never used them because she just didn’t know how they worked–WHAT?? I told her she was crazy to miss out on such a great deal! So I thought I would break it down to help with any confusion…so Amy this is for you 
I usually buy Resturant.com gift certificates when they are at 70% - 80% off. That means that I pay $2 – $3 for a gift certificate worth $25. Once I get the email that they are on sale I head over to Restaurant.com and type in my zip code to look for participating restaurants in my area. Each restaurant will have different requirements. Most of the ones I go to require a $35 – $50 purchase to use the gift certificate.
Ok…so let’s do the math for a certificate at 70% that requires a $35 purchase:
My family goes to the restaurant and we order $35 worth of food. Once the bill arrives I give the waitress the gift certificate and now my bill is only $10 + tax and tip! So I will pay approximately $20 for a $35 dinner. Now add the $3 that I paid for the gift certificate and I have paid $23 for the meal!! That means I saved 35% using the Restaurant.com gift certificate! I’d say that is a great deal!!

Oh boy! I just took advantage of this today. There are quite a few new restaurants I’d like to try. I got a $75 (on $150 total bill) gift certificate for $6.00. I’m going to arrange a Ladies Out night where we go for Chinese food, take the $75 off and split the difference. Maybe everyone will let me eat for free!
There are a couple of snooty places I’d like to visit. I always feel better with a “deal” under my belt in case I don’t enjoy it or the service is less than the best! LOL

We love Restaurant.com! We just moved to Atlanta and have used several coupons at nearby restaurants so we can try out these places that are new to us! If I won I would use it on some more places nearby that we would love to try!

What a wonderful site! With the economy being as it is, this is a great way to be able to enjoy a family night out (or a date with hubby!) without breaking the bank! If I won the coupon, I would use it at “Sushi Hibachi – All You Can Eat” here in town. The food is AMAZING and it’s a place I would love see succeed!

It would be a toss up for me. There are two great places near me that I love to use these certificates for – OB’s BBQ and Kuma Japanese Steakhouse. Both are awesome, but offer different types of food.

there are NO restaurants anywhere near where I currently live but we are heading back “home” to Delaware in September and I would love to use it while on vacation since this will cut our budget quiet nicely. I browsed the general area up there and I would probably use it at Dead Presidents in Wilmington. But we might also save it and use it on our 10 hr drive home. Maybe at a halfway point like VA.

Chin Chin, Big Shanty Smokehouse, Highlands Grill (all in Kennesaw) or Medieval Times in Lawrencville. I have only been to Medieval Times, the rest of these places I have been wanting to try. I love Kanpai of Tokyo but there dinner’s are quite expensive. I would love to use a restaurants.com certificate to have a date night with my hubby.
We just tried a Mexican restaurant that has a whole section of vegetarian items and it was fabulous! I saw that they’re on their now!! I would love to go back as it is so hard to find good vegetarian food while eating out!!

I would use the $50.00 restaurant.com credit toward Lobstergram.com. I grew up in New England-and enjoyed Maine lobster frequently, but I have lived in FL for 20 years now, and FL lobster is just not the same. No claws!!! (and that’s where the best meat it!) I miss LOBSTER, and it can be very expensive in FL, so I would love some help to offset the cost.

Not sure b/c there are so many new restaurants in the area. My hubby and I just had our first child 2 months ago and I would use for a free night out. With me loosing my job a few months ago, almost free supper would make me feel not so guilty for going out!

My husband and I LOVE sushi. There’s a place in town (Spice Thai and Sushi) that has some decent sushi. We have use the gift certificate there before and always look again when we are in the mood for sushi but don’t want to pay full price.

my husband and i try meeting for lunch at least once a week with out the kids so id probably say id use it at firehouse subd in melbourne because they make a killer sub!

My husband and I would go out with no children! Having adult conversations, not having to worry about spilt drinks, or not having to get up to take someone to the bathroom right when your food gets there. Ahhh, a night out alone…well with my husband of course.

My husband and I LOVE this site. We would use it for a date night thats very much needed. We love checking out all the local “Mom and Pop” resturants that are offered on this site.
There are a couple of places I would like to try and this would come in handy.
If I won the Restaurant.com gift certificate I would go to Pannullo’s in Winter Park. My husband and I have eaten there several times in the past. It has always been a pleasurable experience. Since I am a teacher and have been without a paycheck for the entire summer an evening out with my husband would be a real treat. It would also be a nice way to end my summer vacation.
I have used Restaurants.com a few times already. However, I would love to win because i have been laid off since mid May and I would love to be a able to take my Hubby out for a nice date night dinner to thank him for all his support through this tough time without complaining.
