Weekly Totals

April 16, 2010

I am not sure where this week went!!  I am seriously in awe that today is already Friday!  I had great intentions to shop this week but I just never had the time.  I popped in to Publix on Monday to pick up a few things with the intention of going back to actually shop and I just never made it!  So this week my weekly totals are pitiful!

I said I was going to start spending my budget and I really am going to do it at some point!!  I am determined to make a list tonight and shop tomorrow after my son’s t-ball game!!  If I don’t my husband may cry icon smile Weekly Totals   He has been out of Diet Coke for the past week!!  He has gone through pretty much every beverage in the house!  I am even out of sugar so I can’t even make him sweet tea!!  He is living off of canisters of lemonade right now–is it bad that I am giggling at his misery???

I wish I could say that things would slow down but I know they are not!!  The boys just started SoccerTots, t-ball is in full swing and I just signed them up for swim lessons!! Yes I think it is official –I have lost my mind!  I really do have to start prioritizing as I am watching my stockpile shrink every week!  Having a stockpile is wonderful but if I am not careful I will wipe it out and have to start paying retail–OH NO!!

This week I bought $10.42 worth of groceries. I did not use one single coupon but I did pay with my gift card so technically… I spent nothing out of pocket.

Bread 1 1.25 1.25   1.25
milk  1 2.28 2.28   2.28
bag of apples 1 3.49 3.49   3.49
bananas 1 1.61 1.61   1.61
dozen eggs 1 1.49 1.49   1.49
tax 1 0.3 0.3   0.3
      0   10.42

I try hard to save as much as possible, but I don’t think we could ever survive on what you spend each week. You always impress me with your shopping lists and savings. Thank you for all of your help!!!

  7. Marie says:

Isn’t it nice to take a shopping break once in a while though, even if it’s unintentional?

I don’t understand why so many resoursouces are spent on documenting “weekly totals”. Coupons should be used anytime.

I believe that most of the “weekly totals” posted on the Internet are faked or fail to show true expenseses. I rarely see dairy, deli or alchol included in the purchase.

So, is this a good deal for a REAL Weekly total ?:

    4/15/2010:
    buy 1 beer = 18 pack Bud @ 14.99

    buy 2 Benadryl @ 4.99 each
    use one -5.00/2 ‘wyb’ any 2 of ….. ( redplum, 4/11 )
use two -$1.50/1 any Cortaid, Benadryl 1 oz, or larger or 6-100 cnt.( Publix Green Flyer )

I saved $8 with the Benadryl Qs but ruined the bottom line with the beer. oh well…..

    SteveO….

I spent $49.70 and saved $136.37, I’m also sending in for the $5 SC Johnson rebate, conagra coupon book and banquet MIR. I had to pick up a few things at Aldi but still within the $100-every-two-weeks-for-three-people-grocery-budget!

I’m glad to see other people eating from their “stockpiles” too… we are in the process of selling one home and buying another home and between the time I am spending on showing the home to sell and packing… and having to run around and do things to get the new home ready for us. I haven’t had time to shop much and least of all blog. Our family has been living on our stockpile of food for 6 weeks and only buying fresh fruits, vegetables, milk, bread, and eggs… over the past 6 weeks I have spent on average $20.00 per week (mostly on fruits and vegetables)!!! What surprises me is that we could actually go this way for another 6 weeks before I actually have to “really” shop!! I love the stockpiling method!!!

  15. Dianne says:

Saved $121.60 – spent .86! Another great week at Publix…now just to figure out who will drink the 30 free bottles of Powerade, lol.
