This book is perfect for my personality!!  I also learned some new things…did you know you should not store clothing in plastic bags?? Apparently this encourages mold and larvae…hello–I have a ton of things stored in dry cleaning bags as I thought that would keep them clean and help reduce dust!!  Apparently I have a bit of work to do!!

Blog I Heart

March 28, 2010

 Tinkerbell 9 Blog I Heart

Every week I tell you all about a blog that I personally visit.  There are tons of wonderful people out in the great big web publishing some pretty fantastic sites.  Well my buddy Kristin over at Couponing To Disney is definitely one you will want to check out!!

I just love how Kristin uses her site as a way to chronicle her efforts to pay for her family’s vacation to Disney by being a smart shopper!!  How cool is that??!! I bet you would be amazed if you took every penny you saved by being a smart shopper and put it in a jar–what would YOU do with that money??  Here at my house my smart shopping is covering the cost of finishing our basement!  So far we have not had to pull any money from savings and we are nearing the completion of the project!!  I actually have every receipt in a folder and once the basement is finished I will total all the receipts just to see what we were able to accomplish by budgeting and being smart shoppers!

While Kristin’s site is definitely a Disney enthusiast’s dream–she also stays on top of all the hot deals of the day.  She has a great site to find all the deals AND  is a one stop place to find out all the scoop about Disney! Now that my youngest son is 2 we will be planning our first family trip to Disney and you better believe I will be scouring Kristin’s archives to learn all I need to know!

I definitely recommend you visit Kristin at Couponing To Disney.  I have a feeling you will keep going back!!

Weekly Totals

March 26, 2010

I am finished shopping this week so I thought I would go ahead and post my weekly totals.  It was another super busy week so I just stopped at Publix to grab what we needed as well as a few super deals.  My freezer is a bit empty so I will need to do a meat stock very soon… so I am happy I am under budget this week icon biggrin Weekly Totals   I will just add the extra funds to my budget for next week to cover the cost of the meat!!

I purchased a $50 BP gift card this week but did not include it in my spreadsheet since that money is not pulled from my grocery budget.  For me it was a smart purchase as that $50 gas card allowed me to get $10 off my groceries!!

I might also have to up my produce budget a bit as my 2 year old has decided that all he want to eat is fruit!!  Seriously, he went through a bag of apples and an entire bunch of bananas in 4 days!!  I am down to only canned and frozen fruit for the weekend–oh my!!  I just wish he would enjoy vegetables as much as fruit icon wink Weekly Totals

So this week I spent $16.45 for $87.81 worth of items.  My savings percentage this week was 82%–not too bad at all.  I have a feeling that my totals will be a bit higher next week…I must grab some meat to restock my freezer.
