Weekly Totals

February 26, 2010

I thought I would go ahead and post my weekly totals since I am done shopping for the week!!  I am under budget again this week as I had several “perks” that helped keep my total low!

  1. Publix: I used a gift card for my Publix trip.
  2. Walgreens: I had some Register Rewards that were going to expire.  I chose to use them to add to my husband’s Diet Coke stash and grab some trash bags (things that we use on a daily basis). I blew all $20 Register Rewards but earn $5 in the process–so I call that an OK trip.
  3. Rite Aid: I had to hit Rite Aid as well since I noticed that I was down to three packs of diapers icon surprised Weekly Totals   That is a no go in my house!!  I actually could have done better at Rite Aid but I went in somewhat unprepared.  If I had done two transactions I would have been able to use two $5 off $25 coupons and would have paid $5 less out of pocket. Oh well–not the end of the world (see–planning can make all the difference!) I will still get a $3 Single Rewards Check for my purchase so the cost per diaper is still great! I also had a $5 Gift Of Savings certificate and two FREE Huggies coupons to help reduce the cost!!  I am really hoping my little one shows some signs of potty training soon!!

This week I spent $13.04 out of pocket for $126.04 worth of products!  That means my savings percentage this week is 90%.  I am already making my list for next week as I have a few gaps that I need to fill.  My lack of shopping is starting to catch up with me a little bit icon wink Weekly Totals

    As always, I’m very impressed!

Do you guys watch the cashier and make sure he puts in every coupon? Or do you wait until you get in the car and check it just in case? I have had a couple of trips where I bought the wrong apple juice, say premium and don’t realize until I look on the receipt when I get in the car. And I am learning that just because their sticker looks like it is over a similar item of the same brand, say Smuckers Crustables PB or grilled cheese, doesn’t mean it’s included.

Where do you get the $5.00 off $20.00 Publix’s coupon? You may have mentioned before but I have been out of the loop.

I thought I saw a code for swagbucks somewhere on this sight but I can’t find it.
Can someone steer my in the right direction?

Jenny – I do BOTH. I don’t always catch everything as they’re doing it if they scan too fast. I have had to go back to the store and make corrections (usually when a free product Q doesn’t get put in).

Cejay – I recall her saying that she trades for them. I wish I knew someone who got those and didn’t need them!!

    Hi,
Is there a RiteAid in the Cape Coral area?
    Thanks

I spent $188 worth of groceries for $119. I’m really proud that I stuck to my meal plan and list, and for the first time, I had a few items that were money makers for me! I also had 2 of my kids with me (under age 3…always a challenge) and I still did it. $150 is my weekly budget, so my hubby is happy too!

tonight i spent $59 and saved $146! not as good as some of you all do, but I was pretty proud! Note: my store had the Bayer blinkies for $1.25, good at publix only. Combined with several of the $ 1.00 manufacturers i’ve been collecting, I made 75 cents a box! I got 6,for a total of $4.50! This is so much fun, thanks to michelle for all your help!

  11. Rachel says:

Tonight I went to Publix for the first time and when the cashier got though ringing my stuff up I could hardly believe it. My bill was 87.00 and after all my coupons I only paid 21.76. I think for the first time I did really good. It was a 65.64 savings. I will be going back next week.

  12. Beth says:

I got $104 worth of stuff for $3.89 :) Before that it was $89 worth of stuff and they PAID ME $27, hehehehe!

  13. StephanieP says:

Beth – which store do you go to? All of mine are extra wary of giving overage. Yours sounds awesome!

I just got back from my Publix run and spent $7.96 on $94.78 worth of stuff, saving 92%! I did get some overage opportunities as they had an in-store special on BeneVia at $6.49/2 and you can still get $5 coupons online and I had a Target Q for the Right Guard Deodorant from the $24 Flip, Clip, Save booklet to go along with the $2/2 MQ. Percentage-wise, this was my best week yet!

  14. Mary says:

I’ve very new to this and need some help. I saved about 86% today at Publix but I can’t feed my family with what I bought. On our real food puchases I only saved about 24%. Is that normal?

    Thanks for the help!

  15. Dee says:

Ok…I know you and others often do way better than this, but I am thrilled to report that I had my best week yet with couponing! Spent $16.64 for $133.31 worth of groceries. Correct me if I’m wrong…but I think that’s 87%!! I’ve NEVER saved that much!! I Heart Publix rocks my socks off!!! :D

Mary…YES! I think that’s very good! I’m pretty new to this, too. Just started in October. But I’m learning more and more that the secret is in the stockpile. It takes a few months to really build up your stockpile, and until we got ours in a good place we ate some bland, weird meals! Ha! But once we really started stocking up, I had so many wonderful options for meals, and didn’t have that problem of, “Mmmkay…How am I going to feed my family tonight with 6 cans of green beans, toothpaste that I got for free, and a jar of mustard?” Haha!
