Weekly Totals

February 6, 2010

We really did not need anything major this week so I went to Publix to grab fruit, milk, bread and a few things that were such a good price I couldn’t pass them up!!  I keep telling myself that I am going to do a big stock up at some point but just have not had the chance to shop.  I know that sounds crazy…but we have a great stockpile right now so my focus has been on other things. I am cutting into that stockpile quite a bit–so I know I will NEED to do a big shop soon!  Luckily I have been well below my weekly budgeted amount…so I will not have to feel guilty about a big trip!!

This week I spent $7.54 for $66.17 worth of merchandise.  That means I saved 89% –not too bad at all!!

By the way Publix will be getting a chunk of money from me tomorrow as I decided to let them handle Jake’s birthday cake for his party tomorrow.  So– I will be shelling out over $40 bucks for that cake…but I do have a $3 coupon icon biggrin Weekly Totals   I know many of you are gasping at that decision!! I know I have enough free cake mix in my pantry to bake 20+ cakes for free!  I have been a bit under the weather the past few days and with so much on my plate and a crazy schedule …pulling that $40 from our entertainment budget is a sanity saver.  It is all about balance!

So here is what I got this week for $7.54

I have a question (newbie here!) Can you stack manufacture’s coupons? I saw that you used 3 coupons for 1 tyson entree? Also does publix take free item coupons? I heard they didn’t but saw you had used some? Thanks!

      Hey Malinda
You can’t stack MQ’s I used two coupon on the Tyson–a $2/1 Publix coupon and a $1/1 coupon to deduct $3 total. Publix dodes accept Free item coupons just not printable free’s. Mine were all home mailed coupons coupons.

Publix cakes are the ONLY birthday cake choice for me. MMMmmmmm!! Their icing is absolute delish! At every birthday party we go to I always scope it out to see if they have a Publix cake or not. That’s one thing that I am “brand” loyal about. :)

Today was my first-ever coupon shop and I am SOOOO excited about it! I’ve been reading up and clipping coupons all week preparing for my shop this morning, I was a bit nervous going in – not sure about all of it – but now I’m SOLD!

I bought $165.91 worth of groceries and cleaning supplies and paid $86.70! That’s nearly 50% savings, and I haven’t even begun to stockpile my coupons yet!

Thank you for the wonderful site and all of the great help!

You should try their cookie cakes. You can preorder them circle or square and they’ll decorate them for you. They are really yummy and a fraction of the cost of a sheetcake…

Went last night & bought $120 worth of groceries for the week & snacks for the game…paid $52 total. Not a bad deal for my 2nd couponing trip. It will get better as I stock-pile my coupons I am sure. Thanks for all your hard work Michelle!!!

Don’t feel bad about getting a Publix cake. For my husband’s birthday last month I wrestled with buying a cake or making one. Even though I was pressed for time, I decided to go ahead and make it. I made one of the stacked presents cake, all personalized to my husband’s interests. I spent four hours making, baking and decorating this cake. As I put on the last little top piece, I bumped the board with my hip and sent the cake flying off the counter where it landed upside down. I was in total shock, not even realizing the dogs were having a cake fest. I scooped up the disaster and sat down. Thankfully, I had time to go to Publix and order the cake in time for the party. Moral of the story? If you’re already pressed for time, don’t push yourself or you’ll end up at the Publix bakery anyway.

Dont feel bad you cant replace time with your family. I worked in a backery for 5 years and also did wedding cakes on the side. So my fam expects from me. I usualy make a super bowl cake with the two teames helments butting heads. but this year I was like enough and I got cupcakes from publix all decorated. My yongest is learning how to walk and thats time you cant take back. And I love Publix cake tast the best out of any store I have ever tryd. Love it.
