MrK - it is my experience that you buy a "filler" item when you are purchasing other items that are considered "money makers" or that give overage. I have never had a problem using a manufacturer coupon that gave me overage when I had other items to absorb that cost - especially if I am using one coupon and not stacking a store coupon with a MQ. I hope you have better luck next time!

I am new to this site (and a single man). I really appreciate the effort that goes into making this site work. I have a question about money-maker deals and what everyone's experience is. I tried the $2/1 Healthy Choice coupons backed up against the 50% off sale in this week's super deals. However, the store would only let the items be free (not bad, I guess) and would not apply the extra $$ to other items on the bill. However, I would think the store would get the face value for the coupons - thus the store makes money on the deal (granted, I do get the meals for free).

So what is everyone's experience. A coworker went to a different Publix and got money back. Did I just pick the wrong store or did my coworker get a break?

I just want to defend myself here & say that I'm not one of the ones who takes handfuls of booklets. I too have had to go to 3 or 4 diff. stores to find a booklet!I'm just trying to save money & feed my own family as well,& when I can,I like to help those less fortunate!

I went to my publix (Alabaster, AL) today and the Pillbury Crescent rolls were not tagged as being included in the 10/$10 sale. They were also not ringing up! Just a heads up to check your receipts, they had to override my ticket!

Benz1968... cheers to you! thank you for your most obvious point for those of us who like you are just trying to save money and feed our families. In this past week I have been to four different publix stores trying to make good on the sale with coupons and find the mysterious coupons that publix puts out. The shelves are empty as well as the coupon holders. I have spoken with several employees and a manager of a couple of these stores and the manager became outright upset at the mention of coupons. Not at me, but as he explained, whenever they put coupons out for everyone, a few regular people who seem to know when the coupons are put out, always manages to be the first ones to take "greedy" handfuls of what should be enough for everyone who frequents his store on a regular basis. They know who the "abusers" are (his word not mine) because every time there is a sale, these same people come in with arm loads of coupons and clean out the shelves. He has been getting more and more reports of complaints about the empty shelf spaces from his regular non coupon customers that whenever they go to buy a particular item, it's gone. He said that the (again I quote him) "selfishness of these few coupon abusers is wreaking havoc for everyone as the regular customers are having to take their business elsewhere because this problem has increased tremendously in the last few months." He went on to say that "the coupons that publix puts out is a courtesy for everyone, not financial aid for a few. But because of all the problems, his store is reviewing their coupon policy to make changes." He didn't say what kind of changes, but it won't be helpful as it has been. I'm with you in not trying to be mean here, but common sense and respect toward others really needs to be practiced or we all will be out in the cold with no coupons.
