Tell me your cleaning tips when getting your home prepared for guests.
I like to go through the house and clean using a product that makes my home smell nice.
Clean up the day before so you won’t have to rush the day the guest are due to arrive.
I make sure my floors are clean and my carpets are vacuumed- that makes everything in the house fresher.
I always have my family help me clean up. It makes the process of cleaning up easier and quicker.
The powder room always needs a wipedown and a check of the tp, hand soap, and towels.
Dusting furniture with a scented polish, clean counters and glass with a scented multi-surface cleaner and use a scented carpet freshener. All the scents together smell great and inviting to guests!
With 3 boys (and my husband) we make sure beds are made daily and that nothing is left on the floor.
Wipe all flat surfaces, vacuum and clean all floors and wipe all glass with products that make my home smell clean.
I am a cleaning machine ! Believe it or not, but I find cleaning relaxing. So before guests come, I use a variety of wonderful Mrs. Meyer’s scents. So many of my very favorite scents 🙂
I try to do a couple of things each day the week that my guests are arriving. If I try to do everything in one day, I get stressed and aggravated that they are coming!
Give the spare bedroom a deep clean dusting top to bottom, fresh sheets, and a thorough vacuum.

I cleaned the floors already but I still have to clean the bathrooms and dust. All the laundry has to be done as well tomorrow so we can just rest and enjoy our time on Sunday 🙂

basically I procrastinate and then panic – sigh….. then make sure powder room and kitchen are clean and coffee tables dusted – I assume guests won’t be looking anywhere else! 🙂
I try to clean as I go so nothing much special required but if the house isn’t all that clean and I have ZERO time before someone is coming over I at least wipe down the mirrors in the bathrooms and the pics on the walls!

Always keep my bathroom clean
I clean daily, but somehow I still spend 6-7 hours cleaning on Saturday. I like to clean though, so it’s all good.
Wiping counter tops and vacuuming
I divide up the cleaning chores on slips of paper, put in basket and then each member draws one and then we have a competition to see who completes their chore first!
I like to clean a bit every day, tackling projects as I am able. When I know I have company coming things have been kept up and only need a quick once over.
I’m retired and live alone so I try and lightly clean daily. If company is coming I try and thoroughly clean; make sure the house smells good; take time in between to relax and occasionally have a glass of wine; turn on soft music This helps me so that when guest arrive I’m in a good mood.
I let Wally do the work. He is my robot vacuum. I love it. I leave the house and come back with clean floors.

I start a few days before my company is due to arrive but it seems like I’m still running around trying to get everything done before they get here.
I like to make sure that the guest bedroom and bathrooms are spotless and smell fresh and clean, maybe add some fresh flowers. They lend a special flair to the room.

I was going to say let the kids help, but that doesn’t make it quicker. It actually ends up taking more time if they help LOL

I tend to only use safe for my family environment friendly products.
I make sure the guest bathroom is clean and smells great. If they are staying overnight, I also make sure the closet is straightened and there is space for them to hang their clothes and have a place to access their luggage.
I tackle it one room at a time. Starting with the rooms we will spend the most time in.
I swish & swipe the bathrooms every single morning. (I use the FlyLady cleaning system, it works!)
Sweep & mop floors, vacuum carpets, dust all furniture, surfaces & knickknacks, clean sinks & toilets, wipe mirrors, shake rugs, tidy up & clean up clutter, sterilize surfaces (especially in the kitchen & bathrooms!) with a natural cleaning product, such as Mrs. Meyer’s Clean Day products, so that the whole house looks, smells, and IS clean, as well as safe for children, pets, & people like myself with chemical sensitivities!! 🙂
I make sure bathrooms are clean, floors and carpets cleaned and vacuumed, counters wiped down. I also take down curtains and wash to freshen them up…and while the curtains are down, wash the windows.
I try to clean the basic things each day.
I am a clean freak in general but I do a thorough cleaning everywhere because I want to make sure every spot in my house looks good. You never know where guests may look.
The guest bath must be spotless and have plies of fresh clean towels for their use. The guest room comes second and then the kitchen.

I try to make sure the downstairs and more public areas of my home are clean. The areas like the upstairs bedrooms aren’t as big of a deal.
To help home prepared our home for guests I make a list of things that need to be done, like a chore chart. I then delegate different tasks to members of the family. This makes is easy for every one to know their task. They can take as much time as they want and ease into it or get it done all at once. Just as long as it’s done right and done by the needed time.

I don’t want to be stressed the day guests arrive, so I focus on cleaning and putting things away at least three days ahead of time. Then I do at least one major thing each day. Cleaning all bathrooms is a big project. Making sure the kitchen shines is another day’s project. The day guests will arrive, I polish all mirrors, sweep and vacuum floors, and mop non-carpeted floors. That last day is just a quick clean to make sure everything looks good and smells fresh.

My grandsons are a big help, they do a very good job dusting.
I like to use cleaning products that do multiple surfaces, like Pledge for my furniture and stainless steel.
I make a list of everything I want to accomplish and I try to stay focused on my list so I don’t get overwhelmed. I want the house nice and clean for my guest but I also don’t want to be so worn out from cleaning that I don’t get to enjoy everyone:)

My cleaning tips for when guest are coming is to start a few days ahead and clean one area at a time. I like to make sure I clean my carpets, mop floors and wipe down door handles.
Walk through the house with a box picking up things I know longer need, this helps decluter. Donate these things to charity.
I tried to keep my house clean by doing some cleaning every day, but a day or 2 before the guests arrive, I put fresh towels, do a last minute vacuuming and dusting.
Vacuum, wash windows and spray some good smells near the front door!
Set the table the night before. Put out serving dishes/trays/bowls with post-it notes indicating what will be served in it. That ensures that you have all serving pieces and allows other to help get the food out.
Get the dust off and put things behind closed doors.
I try to prep ahead of time when I know guests are coming. I pay special attention to the bathrooms and mirrors. I will put on music in the background and that helps me clean quicker. I will stash away any extra clutter in a backroom, out of sight.
My cleaning tips are put on a big pot of coffee or tea, crank up your favorite tunes and have fun cleaning. Make sure you have some nice soaps in the bathrooms, pretty towels and a fresh fragrance. Scents make a difference in the perception of your home.

If they’re staying over, I clean their room and bathroom well and make sure there’s a supply of clean linens and toiletries. Otherwise, I go with as-is (which is usually pretty clean already).
I start with the bathrooms and like to use lemon scented natural cleaning solutions like Mrs. Meyers. Vacuuming is the last cleaning job.
Usually I do some vacuuming and mopping because it is so difficult to keep the floors clean with pets.
Just clean up to eye level unless you have tall people visiting.

My husband and I divide and conquer the chores together. It is just the two of us so the house is pretty much company ready all the time.
My guess are my kids with Grand kids and dogs so I don’t do anything UNTIL they leave and then the cleaning starts.
I try and keep a decently clean house on an everyday basis so I won’t have to do much but run thru with vacuum and put up clean towels in bathroom.
It’s just my husband and I so the guess area stays pretty clean. I just have to tidy up the kitchen and we’re ready to go.

I start at the left side of a room and work my way around, decluttering and dusting. When I get to the door, I complete the floors.
Vacuum, dust, wipe down the counters with Mrs Meyers all-purpose cleaner. Light a couple of glade candles and I’m ready for guests.
We keep pretty much every room neat and tidy most of the time, so if guests are coming, all I have to do is dust mop the wood floors and do a quick dusting job on furniture. Baking something that smells wonderful adds to the welcoming atmosphere too!

I vacumn and dust the main entryway and living room area and put in some Glade Plug ins. I also like to use Mrs. Meyer’s dish liquid – it not only cleans my dishes and makes them sparkle for my dinner guests, but it is hypollegenic and I don’t have to worry about breaking out in a rash on my hands when I use it.
I make sure the bathrooms are sparkling clean and nice towels are in place. A deodorizing candle and matches are handy for quickly freshening the air.

My TIP is to let Mrs. Meyers products help you do the cleaning work for guests. Just do not go crazy cleaning, otherwise you will clean and clean and clean. Your guests know YOU and your home the way it is.

My cleaning tips when getting my home prepared for guests is to be thorough and use cleaning products that smell good. You don’t want your home to smell like bleach and like you’ve just cleaned! You want it to smell inviting and pleasing to guests.

I like to use scented candles to create a nice ambiance and organic cleaners to wash down surfaces for dirt and dust.
I make sure to use scents in every room a couple hours before they arrive, so it’s not overwhelming, but still smells nice 🙂

My husband and I work as a team and tackle the job. We do the floors, dust, scrub the showers/tubs, clean the bathrooms, wipe the windows and mow the lawn. It’s a big job and usually takes a few weekends to get it all done.
We wait until the day before we’re expecting guests, because the house will be trashed again if we don’t, then me, my mom, and my sister spend (almost) all day cleaning the house from top to bottom. It really takes forever because we have such a large house. We usually spray a light air freshener or light a small candle to get rid of the bleach scent.
I clean the bathroom and the kitchen first, because these rooms are used the most with visitors. I set candles out because they are warm and inviting.
I fill the sink with the lavender multi surface concentrate cleaner & water (fills house with good smell), I take a wash cloth and I quickly wipe down all counters and entry way surfaces (first impressions) and while I do that I have the toilets soaking with the lemon scent. Then I run vacuum. All done and smells great!
I like using all products with fresh citrus scents which seems to crisp up the air in the house
My tip is to not wait until the last second to clean but do a bit at a time so when people come over, you won’t have much to clean.
Have everyone help to get it done faster.

This sounds horrible, I always have a space in a closet to tuck things temp. That allows me to clean surfaces quickly.
After discovering a severe skin allergy to most household and cosmetic liquid soaps I tried Mrs, Meyers products which do not contain the offending chemicals. Yay!!

One of my favorite cleaning tips, I quickly wipe counters, appliances etc every day using disinfecting wipes. By doing this, weekly cleaning is easier, plus, things are a bit prepared if unexpected guests pop in.
If possible, do a full clean top to bottom the day before, and plug in scented oils a few hours before, so the smells are just filling up the air when they arrive.
I go on a cleaning spree for about 4-5 days before! I make sure my plugins are new, & spray the carpets with a lavender essential oil spray.
Definitely have to get the bathroom done before they come and we usually give it a good wipe down.
I just try to some cleaning every day so it’s not a big cleaning job for when someone is planning on coming over. And using nice smelling cleaners is always a plus 🙂

I love pine sol. All bathrooms and kitchen is cleaned before visitors.
If it is last minute I lock the spare room where I place all of the items I. don’t have time to organize, spot clean and. put some cinnamon sticks on the stove.
Get things done a few days ahead of time, then just a touch up before they come.
Get everyone to help clean
I use a laundry basket and walk around to pick up anything that’s out of place. I then put it all away or if I don’t have time, I’ll put the laundry basket in a closet.
I keep a cleaning list weekly and If I am to expect company I just start before and make sure everything looks nice and presentable. Usually if I stay on top of my list weekly everything stays clean. 🙂 It’s so much easier and relaxing that way!
