Coupon Question And Answer – Best Of Ask I Heart Publix 7/2

coupon question and answer

We've been answering questions for Ask I Heart Publix for over three years now, and we've definitely found that some questions keep popping up as new couponers write in. So every month we're going to feature a "Best Of" Ask I Heart Publix, where we post some of our favorite questions and answers from past weeks, months, and years.

Don't worry....we'll still be answering the new questions you guys send in, too, so keep sending in those questions! Just remember if we didn't get to your question this week...we will do our best to cover it another week!!

Don't forget to look under the "About" tab where you can find the questions and answers from past weeks!

Here are this week’s "Best of" questions:

  1. What do I do if a Digital Coupon comes off my total when I've already used a paper coupon for the same item?
  2. Why can't I load a Upromise One or Many Offer that is still valid to my card?
  3. Can I do a Upromise One or Many Offer twice and get two deposits?
  4. For rebates - am I limited to one per address- or one per person per address?
  5. What's the deal with the Hopster coupons I see in the weekly matchups?

And here are the answers!

1. Jenn wants to know: When I was checking over my receipt this past weekend, I noticed that a Publix Digital Coupon came off my total and I had already used a paper coupon for that same item.  I know that you're not supposed to be able to use paper and digital coupons  for the same item. Is there any way to fix this with my customer service desk?

Christy: I've noticed this happen from time to time too. I think the system just gets "confused" sometimes even though it's not supposed to. You might want to just take your receipt in to your Customer Service Desk and ask if there is anything you should do to let them know when this happens…but I think it is just a random glitch that hopefully they will work out.

Michelle: I noticed it recently too. I am actually kinda glad to hear that I am not the only one. Mine was a doozy as I got an extra $5 with the B2G1 Digiorno coupon/digital coupon. I thought maybe the register got confused as it was a multiple purchase coupon. I had thought to talk to my store to see if they had any insight on this issue. Have you guys noticed that it's a particular type of coupon?

2. Jared wants to know: I noticed recently that there is a Upromise One or Many Offer that is no longer available, but that is not yet expired. Why can't I load that offer to my Upromise account?

Christy: I've noticed that that has happened for a few of the Upromise One or Many offers. I would assume that Upromise has a limit on the number of offers that can be redeemed - so once that number of users have loaded the offer to their Upromise accounts, the offer is "gone" even though it's not expired.

Michelle: Yep, I would think that they pull it once their limit has been reached. I try to list as many of the coupons and offers as possible. If you see something that strikes your fancy, load it while you can. I always load all of the Upromise never know when a deal might pop up. It's also easier for me to do it all at once rather than try to remember to go back to the Upromise site several times a month.

3. Jesse wants to know: I have a question about Upromise One or Many offers. If the offer is a $5 deposit when I spend $20 on a particular brand, I'm wondering....can I can get a $10 deposit if I spend $40 on that brand?

Christy: Unfortunately, no. One or Many offers are limited to one per person, so you can only get a single deposit when you buy the required item. Always remember to have your cashier scan your Publix Upromise card at checkout so that you get credit for your purchases!

Michelle: That would be nice wouldn't it. Like Christy said you are limited per person...but there is nothing saying that your significant other can't get in on the deal too 😉

4. Carly wants to know: I have a question about rebates. If I want to submit a rebate for P&G am I limited to one per address- or one per person per address? Basically - could I put my fiance's name on the 2nd form and use our one address? I know I can only have one rebate per envelope.

Michelle: This will vary and you'll need to check the details in the fine print on the form. They will usually specify the redemption requirements and specifics. Usually there is also a number or website where you can contact them for help.

For those rebates that are one per address...I have been known to send out extra rebates and surprise my family members with an unexpected perk. If I am buying the items, someone might as well benefit.

Christy:For the most part, rebates are one per household...I can't think of many recent rebates that allowed me to do more than one deal. However, as Michelle says, the fine print (or the customer service number) will tell you for sure if you can send in more than one per address. And if you can't submit your purchases for the rebate for your household, then Michelle is right - why not surprise a family member with a little gift card or check? :)

5. Lori wants to know: I haven't used Hopster coupons before. Are they different from other types of printables? I can't keep up with all the coupon options :)

Christy: Michelle posted about how Hopster coupons work over here. I don't know about you, but I'll take all the coupon options they'll give us! :)

coupons-i-heart-publixMichelle: Yep--I mentioned them a while back and they now have an iframe that I was able to put on the site so you guys can access the coupons right here whenever you need them. Like all the other printable coupons, all you have to do is hover over the PRINTABLE COUPONS tab in the navigation bar at the top of the site and choose which coupon option you want. Just grab what you need while making your grocery list - easy breezy!

I hope our answers to these questions were helpful! Make sure you 'tune in' next week for even more Q&A with I Heart Publix. If you have a question you'd like to see answered, email me at WE COULD REALLY USE SOME NEW QUESTIONS, SO BE SURE TO EMAIL OR COMMENT IF YOU HAVE ONE!

For the hopster coupons, you will still need to register with them first. Then when you return, you will have to log in each time. Sometimes they have some high value coupons.

I was reading the questions about Upromise and decided to join. When I got to the section where you add cards it wanted one for Publix. My Publix is in Gulf Shores, AL and I don’t believe they issue cards. I’ve been shopping there since they opened and never heard of or seen any cards. Would I be correct that I’, not going to be able to use Upromise for my Publix shopping?

  3. Jane says

Pardon me if you have already answered this somewhere on the site but regarding U-Promise: some of the things this month (like the Tuesday”healthy offer” 20% back on bananas) look just like the Savingstar offers that I can redeem at Kroger. Does this mean I could use my U-Promise card for savinngs at Publix and then get the same offer again at Kroger? Truthfully I pretty much only go to Kroger to get the savings star Tuesday and Friday deals, so I am just wondering. I’d rather just get them at Publix. Thanks for reply.

You would not be able to get the same offer at Kroger and Publix. Savingstar and Upromise are connected and you cannot get the same offer on both with accounts that are attached to the same email. Kroger participates in Upromise and Savingstar and Publix only participates in Upromise for some reason. I really don’t do Savingstar anymore-was not even worth going to Kroger for the freebies. I hardly ever shop at Kroger anymore.

      • Jane says

Me either Johne, that is why I just wanted to clarify – as I said, I’d much rather go to Publix! Thanks for your help!

      • pdnr says

I would think you could get both if you link your Upromise card only to Publix and your SavingStar card only to Kroger. I have redeemed some SavingStar coupons at Food Lion and the same Upromise coupon at Publix. Of course for 20% off healthy offer, unless you need to shop twice in one week for produce, it wouldn’t make sense to shop both stores.

    U promise comment
I must be doing something wrong. I have been activating coupons and scanning my card each time I go. (often)
I decided to check my account and I have had the same buck in my account for months! I must be doing something wrong!
Do I have to scan my receipts in to get the rewards? So confusing this U promise.

  5. Jane says

Me too Pamela! Maybe now that they are accepting the savingstar items it will work better!

p.s. do NOT waste your time to call the help number on U-Promise!! They are NO HELP at all and they just say um, um we’ll have to get back to you on that…a day or two later they will call back (if you are lucky) only to say we are still looking into that…

  6. Melinda M says

Happened to me too. The Betty Crocker suddenly salads were bogo. And I forgot I had a digital q $.50/2 & I had (2) $.50/1 Mqs that I printed online and it took off the digital q as well as the paper q’s

Hi, I am sorry don’t know how to email you wish I did. But wanted to thank you for sharing the glad coupon a few months ago you had to take a please to get the coupon, I did and was one of 9 winners out of over 60.000 people. #saveitsunday well when I open the email I thought it was a fake email but it wasn’t. My prize was first place a personal chef experience for myself and 8 other people and also a fully prepaired meal for the next day. Valued at over 1600 dollars. So wanted to thank you for all your information. As it has made a big difference me and my family’s life. Thank you, ruby

Please forgive me but I am new to this style of couponing and had a quick question regarding how many I can use during a single purchase.

Regarding Publix policy on accepting 1 manufacturer’s coupon and 1 store coupon per item purchased would the following hold true:

Yasso Yogurt Bars, BOGO at $5.99 with 4 available manufacturers coupons options, would I need to purchase 4 boxes to utilize all 4 coupon options or can I just purchase the 2 required for BOGO and apply all 4 coupons to those effectively cutting my price down to $1.49 total?

I do apologize if this seems obvious but I am trying to take it slow as I tried to dive right in and had my head spinning.

    Thank you, Liz
