Weekly Totals 5/2 – Share Your Savings


Happy Friday everyone!

Another busy week is finally winding down. We have another baseball game tonight so I am going to make this short and sweet. My husband isn't going to be home in time to make it to the game so I have to get the boys fed and ready to go.

I didn't do a lot this week. Yesterday was a trip to the dentist and this morning I had a chance to get my hair cut and colored. A little pampering is always a good thing. My oldest was very quick to point out that my "skunk stripe" was quite bright and shiny 😉 Oh the joys of getting old.

I think this is the 2nd week I have had to go to the doctor. This week is was my little one. I thought he had got sunburned but it turns out he had a type of sun poisoning. This is the kind where he develops a rash as a reaction to the sun's UV rays. I was relieved that he wasn't burnt and I wasn't at fault for not loading him up with sunscreen.

The trip to the doctor did yield a trip to Publix for some yummy ice cream. Here's what I grabbed over a couple of trips this week -

Cilantro - $1.19

Onions - $1.73
Avocado - $1.50
Grape Tomatoes - $2
Coffee-Mate x 2 = $1 (TQ + 2 IP)

Mayfield Ice Cream - $5.33
Publix Ice Cream - $3.50
Garlic Powder - $2.99

I was right over $35 this week. Not too bad but I am hoping to get to shop this weekend to take advantage of the gas card. Hopefully I can get a list going for a trip on Sunday.

    What do you all eat? I hardly ever see any meat, and you get a very little amount each week. Do you use coupons? I usually only see one or two posted? Just curious!

      Hi Sissy! I stock up on a few staples each week to help make some room in the grocery budget for organic meat and fresh produce :) If I can get pasta for moneymakers that helps take the price down on those other things :) Check out some of my other shopping trips so you can see on my Shop With Me page!       I have a freezer full of meat from when Zaycon rolls around. I buy it 40 – 80 lbs at a time so I rarely ever *need* to buy any. There may be a few things that I need but I also have a friend who owns beef cattle and we barter a bit. I usually only have to buy a few meat items every once in a while. I am a believer in cooking what you have on hand and not buying just to spend money.

      I have been couponing for years –way before it was trendy. I have huge stockpiles and really only need to supplement just with what I will need in a week (typically produce) or really good sale items.

      I also get a fair amount of freebies that show up at my doorstep from companies wanting me to try things. I also cook ALOT – I rarely buy bread and things of that nature as I make them myself.       Folks shop very differently and that’s OK as different people eat different things. I learned a long time ago not to buy stuff just to buy it. I only buy what we will eat/use before it expires 😉
