Easy Baked Tilapia Recipe

Easy Baked Tilapia Recipe

easy-baked-tilapiaToday I am sharing one of the simplest recipes.  It’s delicious and a great option with the current Publix sale – Easy Baked Tilapia.

Now, I am not kidding when I say easy. You can have dinner on the table in 30 minutes. I like to sauté the garlic in butter but if you are really pressed for time you could easily just throw everything on the fish and pop it in the oven to cut your prep time down even more.

The great thing about this recipe is that my kids will eat it. There are only about 3 ways that my boys will eat fish. When I find a recipe that works – I stick with it. Now, I will admit that I don’t love tilapia. I have tried it a million different ways and am often disappointed. This recipe is the exception, it makes this fairly inexpensive fish quite tasty. Of course, I would much rather have a big piece of sea bass. For a regular weeknight dinner, I opt for a budget friendly alternative.

This recipe is part of our Publix Menu Plan (Week Of 3/20 – 3/26). Be sure and check out the other recipes that I have shared so far this week:

  1. This sounds delicious! I am with you on the tilapia but it is easy for me to keep in my freezer in a form that is individually packaged so it is what we eat most often. I have pinned it for the next time we have fish. I have done a generous coating of lemon pepper and about 1/2 t minced garlic on each fillet and then some thin slices of butter for years and we like that but I am so tired of it.

  4. I allergic to citric avid so I can use citric juice in the recipe. Is there an alternative to the lemon or lime?

  5. THANK YOU!

I’m pretty clueless at cooking, and am trying to learn, and I actually pulled this off! My husband is very particular and he really liked this a lot! Here are my notes on cooking this fish for two.

The Frozen Tilapia filets on sale at Publix was $4.00 per pound. I started with 2 frozen fillets, fully thawed. (They thawed at room temperature in about 3 hours.) With rice and a couple of side dishes, that was plenty.
I got out the other ingredients at 4:30.
I used the minced garlic from a refrigerated jar, about 3 teaspoons.
I added ~ 2 teaspoons of diced yellow bell pepper and about a tablespoon of diced onion and sautéed them with the garlic.
Next time, I’ll use a smaller baking tray to keep the butter on the fish.
I started preheating the oven at 4:45.
I put it in the oven at 5:00.
They were done in 15 minutes.
    We at at 5:20.
